First and foremost we should acknowledge that Canelo choose to take a big risk by fighting a prime top skilled LHW @ 175 with no rehydration clause. Canelo could've chosen to stay at 168 and take easier fights like Charlito, Benavidez, 40 y/o GGG or even Spence but he chose to fight one of the best LHW's!
Indeed the last two fights of Bivol, didn't suggest that he could handle that well a fighter like Canelo but some fighters are getting better and very motivated when they fight big champions.

Indeed the judges favorited Canelo but I was very surprised they didn't rob Bivol, bc like everyone I thought that Bivol would need to stop Canelo to get the win.

After this loss I think Canelo will learn and improve even more and he'll keep moving forward to achieve greatness by remtaching Bivol.
Also I really hope that in rematch he would not try to rely on crooked judging or rehydration clause.

ya, canelo will improve from this and now he'll be more equipped to run through the heavyweight division and unify the titles there. canelo was the real winner tonight

Canelo has bulked up to much. Sturdy as fuk but flat footed and with limitations on his work rate now. Looked massive in there, might struggle a bit at 168 again if he dosent lose some size.

I think bivol should offer him the rematch at 168 for all his belts. Bivol says he can make it, put Canelos belts on the line. Take away Canelos "step to far excuse".

I wonder what both of them weigh right now, who's heavier?

I don't think Canelo will improve. Anyway, he has just tried to bite too much for him. So, there's no tragedy in Canelo's case. Top LHWs are just too good, but the Redhead can return lower to face Golovkin or Charlo.

Canelo will not improve. This kind of fighters always being trouble for him. Should go back to 168 and looking for Benavidez and Charlo fights. Bivol will beat him again in rematch IMO

ya its true, canelo sets himself to punch and doesnt jab much for a top fighter........guys who move well and have good sense of distance like bivol have given him his most problems. canelo would still beat the likes of zurdo, benavidez, charlo,etc.....and pound ggg i think now

I think Canelo should come much lighter in weight for the rematch , maybe 170-171 lbs, and try to box more, be more busy and sharp.

Indeed there is a notable difference in talent between smw and lhw. I'd say that the top guys from LHW are on a par in talent with the fighters from the S6.

True. He doesn't use his jab and he's plodding, waiting to counter hard. He should come lighter in weight, use his jab more, angles, speed and be more busier.

Thats what canelo weighed fight night vs Lara 8 years ago... I think we can all agree he dosent want to be that small vs Bivol, but somewhere between that and the 190+lb he probably was last night.

I think Canelo should give up on fighting career light heavyweights that don't have a glass chin.
There are plenty of interesting opponents at 168/160.
