I had Garcia by shut out but wasn't overly impressed, neither guy been active so the inactivity doesn't hold too much weight, Tagoe was awkward and negative and its always difficult to get guys like that out if there but Garcia didn't force things enough, he did drop Tagoe in the 2nd with a chopping right hand then a sweeping right, he kept his composure and just walked forward jabbing and throwing rights, Tagoe was in retreat for first 8 rounds even when he started to engage more it was just out of hope more than anything, Garcia hurt him again in the 10th but again couldn't get the KO, a domination from Garcia but didn't shine

Joe Goossen seems to be an interesting match as a trainer for Garcia.

I'm not sure what people expected but that was about as one sided a fight as one can expect.

Tagoe was in survival mode from 1 to 12.

Very disappointed in Ryan Garcia’s performance Saturday. To his defense, he was facing a boxer that most would have a hard time looking good against. He wasn’t in there trying to win but not get hit and is very unorthodox. But we had been hearing about how RG’s right hand was finally healthy after surgery and it was shocking to see how flimsy of a punch it turned out to be when he threw it. It was like a pawing type motion with zero pop in it. As soon as I saw it, I thought of Paulie M’s pathetic right hand. It’s just cocked and thrown at an amateurish angle that will NEVER get quality results from. I was expecting much more.

‘I couldn’t throw my right hand due to injury’ – Emmanuel Tagoe explains defeat

According to the lightweight pugilist, this made him unable to use his right hand to box during the fight.

The 33-year-old was given a real beating by the American boxer, who romped to victory by unanimous decision.

Tagoe was the underdog going into last Saturday’s lightweight bout in San Antonio and he rarely made an impression against his opponent.

Garcia completely dominated the bout and knocked down the Ghanaian twice en route to securing a convincing win.

On his return to Ghana on Tuesday, the boxer who is popularly known as Game Boy said he sustained an injury prior to the fight.

He explained that the injury prevented him from throwing his right hand and that affected him during the fight.

"Those who really know me could see that I didn't throw my right hand despite being the hand which I usually throw in bouts.

“I had a shoulder injury in training the more reason I was unable to throw my right hand," he said, as quoted by Primenewsghana.

Meanwhile, Tagoe is reported to have earned around $200,000 despite losing to Garcia in addition to 30% of the money accrued from PPV.

Garcia traveled to Texas for his second straight fight, this time coming off a fifteen-month layoff in a dominant points win over Ghana’s Emmanuel Tagoe. Their April 9 DAZN headliner from Alamodome in San Antonio produced a live gate of $1,307,735 from 12,314 tickets sold according to the final tax invoice provided by Golden Boy Promotions to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), a copy of which has been obtained by BS.com.

Another 1,342 complimentary tickets were issued for the show, bringing the total fan attendance to 13,656. The official attendance announced on fight night was 14,459, which accounts for every person in the building.

Tickets were sold at five available price points, ranging from $40-250. Every price point was an increase from Garcia’s previous fight, a seventh-round knockout of England’s Luke Campbell last January 2 in Dallas, Texas. A live gate of $353,835 was produced from 4,218 tickets sold for the event from a socially distanced American Airlines Center in Dallas, in accordance with Covid restrictions at the time.
