Paul Gallen Fight night. Hironori Mishiro
Paul Gallen Fight night. Hironori Mishiro
I didn't pay to see last nights fight, Can't buy them all. But I read on social Media the SD for Hironori Mishiro was a bit suss and that it was mostly one way in favour of Hironori. Can anyone comment or know the scores?. Thanks
Re: Paul Gallen Fight night. Hironori Mishiro
The split decision by Hironori Mishiro over a game Francis Chua was certainly dubious as I had Mishiro winning five of the rounds, sharing one and Chua winning one. Mishiro was a class above Chua.
The media report confirms that a white cane is needed by one judge:
The media report confirms that a white cane is needed by one judge:
Sam Goodman defeated Fumiya Fuse via unanimous decision, but I saw the fight a bit closer than the judges, with Goodman up by 4 points. The media report and scores:Undefeated Japanese star Hironori Mishiro (12-0-1, 4KO) defeated Perth’s Francis Chua (8-3-1, 3KO) via a seven-round majority decision.Mishiro had the more accurate shots and smarter footwork, winning 69-64, 67-66, 65-68 to win his first fight outside of Japan.
Let’s hope the judge that scored it for Chua gets some sense knocked into him before the main event starts because he must have watching a different fight.
Crowd favourite Sam Goodman won the WBO Oriental and IBF Inter-Continental bantamweight titles with a unanimous 10-round decision despite being floored in the third round.
Goodman (11-0, 6KO) defeated game Japanese opponent Fumiya Fuse (11-2, 1KO) with a clinical display of tactical boxing set up by his outstanding jab.
He won 98-91 on all three cards, and is now a chance of being ranked inside the top 10 in the IBF and WBO.
Goodman was dropped by a straight left counterpunch in the third round and his raucous support fell silent.
However, the slick fighter rebounded to claim his biggest win yet.

Hironori won pretty comfortably in my opinion. Chua had his moments in the fight and showed plenty of resilience but the Jap had to win 5 or 6 of the 7 rounds.

Paul Gallen certainly had a crack at the sport despite the early derision, and did fight twice for the national heavy title. His most memorable performance was his early KO of Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne, who badly underestimated just how determined and fit Paul was.
Despite his lesser boxing skills and age, he showed tremendous heart backed up by strong fitness regime. It was under his headlined name on a lot of cards that many of the younger and talented brigade got their starts and came under notice.
I just hope he retires now, keeps his fiscal and grey matter marbles and doesn't chase any future novelty bouts.
