It's a nice dream. But for now Calzaghe is making it clear october 14th is gonna be his last fight at SMW. Doesn't even bother to aknowledge that Kessler and Beyer are fighting each other.
Don't get your hopes up.

At this stage of his career, Calzaghe is only interested in two things, making money, and being able to call himself a 'two weight world champion' which is a shame.

If he cleared up the SMW division, beating Kessler, and defending against the top contenders (whoever they are, nobody seems that great right now), it would be hard in my book to argue against him being the greatest SMW of all time.

Lol... The words linear & super middleweight..? Lineal link to who? Donny Lalonde!?!?

This division has no history.

Yes, the division has never been unified as far as I can see. When it began there was not one single champion. Sven Ottke is the closest thing we have to a lineal champ in the division's history.

ultimately it doesn't matter whether he fights Johnson (who will get the nod in a close fight v Woods) or Kessler (who will beat Beyer, though ti won't be easy). Each one is a very good fight, and when we think about it, Johnson is the more known fighter in Britain.

See Dumdane's post.

Calzaghe COULD NOT fight Beyer on Octboer 14, but he CAN fight some drunkard from underneath a Cardiff bridge (or whoever else FWarren will sell us as the most threatening opponent to date).

Duck duck duck... duck duck...duck duck......

Hes right. You cannot say someone was ducked without the suffix "perhaps" until you have proof from a source.

Well i'm sorry for being biased - i'm sure you're not.

Check this article (among others) for source. http://msn.foxsports.com/boxing/story/5777658

Though you'll probably dismiss it as it's not straight out of Warren's mouth.

All that says is the fight is signed.

Plus Calzaghe would have to wait for Mundine and Andrande.

Mundine would be only mandatory for the vacant normal belt he won in 2003 though!

Plus Kessler injures worse than Calzaghe and Beyer might get cut.

"We had it agreed in principle for a September date" said Beyer, "but then Markus' cut needed more time to heal. But Calzaghe's promoter allegedly was unable to postpone it."
Is this the bit you, mean? i dont see what it proves.

Right will have to cut it out for u - thought u could read - sorry - my mistake.
"We had it agreed in principle for a September date" said Beyer, "but then Markus' cut needed more time to heal. But Calzaghe's promoter allegedly was unable to postpone it."

Thing about Calzaghe AVOIDING Beyer was not my interpretation (though the thought did occur to me)

What i said was how funny it was that Calzaghe couldn't wait for Beyer's cut's to heal - and then ended up fighting no earlier anyway.

I don't know what "proof" you still need.

1) Calzaghe said he couldn't fight on October 14 when the opponent was Beyer.

2) Now it turns out Calzaghe intents to fight EXACTLY on October 14, but an opponent different from Beyer.

3) The only possibility to link 1) and 2) in a logically coherent way is: Calzaghe would not fight on October 14 BECAUSE the opponent would have been Beyer.

Which is exaclty the same as: Calzaghe duck...duck duck...duck duck duck ducked Beyer.

There isn't really anything new or special about this. It's fully consistent with the pattern of the past 10 years.

If Calzaghe ever makes it into the HOFer, it will be in the "most compulsive ducker ever" category.

Cheers, P :TU:

Get bent. You should check your grammer.

Doesn't prove he's ducking Beyer and who would duck him? I still don't favour Kessler or Beyer though.

I want proper prove that he's ducking him.

I thought it was Beyer not being availble for September?

Calzaghe would never duck Beyer! :o

Beyer is garbage! Kessler is average.

I remember you as well saying Ottke needed Calzaghe, so did you only start this after Ottke retired?

This is a totally proper chrystal clear 100 percent exact and absolutely compelling proof. :TU:

I admit: it does not prove that Calzaghe is pissing in his pants when he hears the name "Beyer" (although there is a fair chance of this too).

But it does prove that Calzaghe duck.... duck duck....ducked Beyer.

It's more opinion.

By this logic then, Beyer ducked Green until he was forced to fight him and Mundine schooled Green.

Plus Calzaghe owned Sheika while Beyer scored a UD like Lacy!

He'd beat Kessler while making sweet love to Beyer. :TU:

Haaaah?

Did Beyer turn down a Green fight saying the date would be impossible for him, and then fought a different opponent on exactly the same date??

Only problem here is WHY was Calzaghe absolutely unable to wait for Beyer's cuts to heal - and then end up not fighting any earlier anyway?

There are several possible explanations.

Calzaghe ducking Beyer is not the most likely - granted.

More likely it's just because Warren is doing a piss poor job.

...and that was the point of my original message.

But then as said, there is nothing special about this. Calzaghe does this all the time. Everybody knows it anyway. Noone would get upset about a compulsive drinker having a beer, or a compulsive lyer telling a lie - so there are no groudn of getting upset about a compulsive ducker ducking a half-decent opponent. :TU:

Took him long enough to give Green the rematch since Green was screwed!
