Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Tervel Pulev | Triller - May 14, 2022
Ref ruined that a bit for me. didnt get to see pulev test Kov due to allowing nothing on the inside. then when kov got a bit hurt he was in to break em up instantly.
Kov wide. i bet on kov so wanted him to win, but i wanted pulev to be able to work and really test kovs old legs. wanted to see if kov could come through some adversity and be fit enough to get through it.

that fight was pretty sucky, pulev just gave nothing and kov was happy with merely winning the rounds
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Tervel Pulev | Triller - May 14, 2022
How good is the smaller Pulev, career wise? I've never watched him before.
He caught Kov on the chin several times but didn't look to have much pop. I'm not sure how much you can gauge from this regarding Kovalev's future at CW.
Wasn't this a catchweight as well?

i second the call for makabu-kov, makabu can lay kov out but also be hurt even by glancing shots. that would explode at some point
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Tervel Pulev | Triller - May 14, 2022
Kovalev wants one more fight before a title shot. Who can it be?

Kov vs Chris Billam-Smith for the Euro belt would be cool.
He absolutly has not earnt a world title shot. and if he wants to earn one befor he is too old he will have to get busy.

Kovalev vs Dorticos sounds quite interesting.

he's okay but pretty basic, no real notable attribute and not really a 2nd gear either. reminds me of the stereotypical upright euro level fighter

he's kovalev, his name and elite 175 accomplishments can get him a shot already. i say go for it, i'ld be all up for him vs makabugregregegg wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:10 Kov vs Chris Billam-Smith for the Euro belt would be cool.

not a f@cking chance he;'d come to the uk to fight chris smith for a euro title. plus smith probably has another couple rounds to go in the uk cruiserweight circle jerk

i think dort would lay kov out, he's tough enough to buy himself the time to eventually get a bomb home

Kov would get murdered i think.
People are getting carried away, he beat trev... an old mediocore cruiser thats never been able to adapt to the pros, and through his entire carrer probably never cracked the top 50 and never beat a top 100...

people arent getting carried away at all. is anyone really rating that performance?
no one is saying he's going to run through cruiser, but he could still be in some interesting fights, including vs thee rightly chosen titilist (e.g. makabu)
at kov's age, doing something like 'proving' himself by fighting chris smith for a euro is just a waste of time if he can get bigger fights

People are suggesting he fights for the WBC world title, or dorticus, who is a top 5 beast.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:18 people arent getting carried away at all. is anyone really rating that performance?

mabey people arnt rating the preformance, but its a bit supprising to me when a 40 year old goes to a new division, beats number 50?ish in the world, and not excelently, says he felt tired in there, and then has people thinking he should fight those kinda fights.
If im Kov obviosly i want to fight for a belt, but i dont think that preformance should even get him ranked at cruiser... so i dont think it should be an option for him.

Dorticos gotta be a threat for Kovalev, but he's still hittable and vulnerable himself, while he's more limited. Both are ageing, which brings more questions.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:17Kov would get murdered i think.

Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Tervel Pulev | Triller - May 14, 2022
what's so weird about him fighting for a wbc title? world class fighters come up from lower weights all the time and quickly challenge for titles. worse fighters regularly fight for belts too. remember that dilan patsy okolie beat?
he's got the name, was elite the weight below, and on paper just dominated an unbeaten cruiser olympic medalist. it's not getting carried away at all to talk about him in a title fight already. id be far more interested in kov vs makabu than kov-billy smith too
show people raving about his performance tonight, or predicting him to lay out every top cruiser, and then you'll have people going overboard

I guess, Kovalev is ready for Makabu right now. That's his best chance to become a CW champion. Maybe the only one.

dilan prasovic doesnt have any win as good as dominating pulev, but challenged oko for the wbo title
jai opetai has beaten eff all, but is challenging briedis for unified next
usyk and gassiev had won f@ck all prior to their first title shots, which they both won
kov now the #4 cruiser on boxrec btw

Not many come up from getting KO'd, take 3 years off, then beat a 50th ranked bulgarian and walk strait into a title shot. (while jumping the biggest gap in weights and being 40)..margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:25 what's so weird about him fighting for a wbc title? world class fighters come up from lower weights all the time and quickly challenge for titles. worse fighters regularly fight for belts too. remember that dilan patsy okolie beat?

I dont disagree that kov vs makabu could be fun because makabu is a very weak champ right now in a very weak division. I just dont know if i agree with him wondering into a title based on ^^ and the preformance i just saw.
I would watch it, but i really wanna see that WBC get unified or challanged by someone I actualy think is world cruiser champ worthy.

This is true. which is why id watch it just not love it. when worse fighters get a shot, I always disagree with the fact that they should be happening.... (unless there australian, then i say its justified.)margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:40 eh, worse fighters get title shots all the time in boxing, im not too bothered by it

boxing would be better with fights like makabu-kov than the conor benn pillow hands crushing mismatch fests you seem to love
Re: Sergey Kovalev vs. Tervel Pulev | Triller - May 14, 2022
Okay, let's get something straight. You guys are going too far in the opposite direction. Kovalev is a freaking HOF fighter. He'd bring more eyes for Makabu than fighting the very unknown Dorticos.
He can jump anyone in the division because he brings fans and is a name. Makabu is a vulnerable CW. It's the perfect opportunity for Kovalev. I'm glad he's going to take another fight, but I do want him to fight Makabu for the title.
Hell, Bellew was a blown up SMW and had a crazy great CW/HW run. Kovalev is far more talented.

i agree that we have to give him some credit based on his lhw career. despite it being his cruiser debut we pretty much all picked him to beat an unbeaten olympic medal winner tonight because we know he's a hof caliber fighter. he's not just some rando with 1 cruiser fight and that's all we have to judge him on. i'd still take him to beat the vast majority of cruisers, though not the very best

I don't think you mean that. I honestly have huge doubts most even caught Makabu/Mchunu: 2. No one will really care if Makabu fights Dorticos in front of 100 fans. Kovalev/Makabu would have a substantially larger fans base watching on top of a more lively RBR.gregregegg wrote: ↑15 May 2022, 02:39Not many come up from getting KO'd, take 3 years off, then beat a 50th ranked bulgarian and walk strait into a title shot.
