Ya, Indongo rose and fell fast didn't he. The Craw fight definitely took something, his legs in particular were never the sameRuthless-RKO wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 05:37The Postol fight was genuinte unification, decent on paper.gregregegg wrote: ↑16 May 2022, 02:31
Craws path to 140 undisputed was pretty weak. didnt have any trouble along the way though.
He got a weak vacant title shot for his first belt. then got another belt in a very legit unification with pistol, Then the other 2 on a platter from indongo (who i bet on in mabey my worst bet ever).
The Indongo fight hhas looed worse as it's gone on, but at the time, he was looking good.
KO'd the Russian on Russian soil,
Then decisively outpointed Burns in the UK..
It wasn't the best run, but I remember at the time, there was some question marks. Then T-Craw, being who he is, just dealt with him and he certainly took something from Indongo..
Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
How great do you have to be to be the worst undisputed champion? um, pretty great.
Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
Yeah. Better than most non disputed champs.
It’s a bit like these worst world title challengers, worst world title holders. They’re Infinitely better than anyone who’s never done that or never been a pro.

indeed, it's all relative to one another within the group, which is obviously a group of very strong fighters
Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
Did he retire after Marquez? I seem to recall he just dropped off but he was a smart lad and either practicing law or studying it. Imagine walking into his office and seeing all the belts on the wall.

Anyone said Bad Intentions?
Taylor only had to beat one man to become undisputed.
Lucky for him Hopkins turned up half hour late and gave the belts to him.

Pernell Whitaker at lightweight. He won the IBF title against Greg "Mutt" Haugen in 1989, a game white fighter with no speed, and then picked up the WBC belt against a shopworn Jose Luis Ramirez of Mexico. Finally, he added the WBA belt to his collection with a first-round dismissal of the Puerto Rico's pathetic Juan Nazario, who turned up simply for the money.
Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
I don't think Smith, Saunders, Plant was that challenging a run for Canelo to unify SMW.
Was anybody seriously in doubt Alvarez would be remotely troubled in any of those fights?

with saunders and plant, it seemed their whole super middle reigns were built around waiting/playing safe just to get a canelo fight. guys stopped challenging themselves out of fear of losing the canelo payday

TBH, there was some doubters and some who believed Cal Smith could trouble Canelo, and there was many on here who thought Saunders would do it.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑17 May 2022, 11:07 with saunders and plant, it seemed their whole super middle reigns were built around waiting/playing safe just to get a canelo fight. guys stopped challenging themselves out of fear of losing the canelo payday

Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
was there about bjs?
he looked pretty unimpressive at smw to be honest. though i guess there were some who bought into the idea of him being some boxing savant who would school anyone on his day

Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
Surely Evander Holyfield, one fight against an out of shape unmotivated Buster Douglas.
Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
Undisputed is all 4 belts, right?
There’s only been 6/7 of them, right?
Wonder what the easiest unification fight of all time was.

Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
Kit answers your question in the post above (Holyfield-Douglas). Another easy one is Bob Foster's two-round destruction of Vicente Rondon back in 1972.

Re: weakest run to undisputed champ
TBRB entered Jermell Charlo at #10..
They made a good argument as to why he isn't higher.. From their homepage.
Charlo also debuts into the P4P List at #10. Several members thought he deserved a higher spot.
There is a lot of nonsense flying around about how Charlo has now “made history” with his 4-belt unification win. Don’t believe the hype. A closer look reminds us of the folly of following belts:
1. Charlo won the IBF belt. We can trace that succession -loosely termed- back to February 2017 when Jarrett Hurd fought Tony Harrison for the vacant “championship.” Neither Hurd nor Harrison were ranked at the time. How then, could the winner of that bout (Hurd) be recognized as a champion when there were at least ten more deserving contenders ahead of him and his challenger?
2. Charlo won the WBC belt. We can trace that succession to May 2016, when Charlo defeated John Jackson for the vacant belt. The problem is that Charlo was ranked #4, while Jackson was not ranked at all.
3. Charlo won the WBO belt. That one goes back to February 2021, when Castano defeated Patrick Teixeira for the vacant belt. Castano was ranked #5 and Teixeira #9. That is rightly considered a bout between contenders and nothing more.
4. Charlo won the WBA “Super World Super Welterweight” title. That’s a hard one to trace and so silly a belt, who wants too?

Any run to undisputed is pretty good, shows consistency.
You could say tyson had an easy run to it
