Canelo Vs GGG next....

Canelo announced it.

Inevitable given the disappointing PPV numbers on DAZN for Bivol.

Canelo money machine needs to get back on track. Golovkin is finished and will likely be stopped on his feet.

Eddie’s saying it did a bit over 600k buys and that Markowski would confirm it.

It’s not the 800k that they did for Plant (an unbeaten US champ who’d been featured fairly prominently on US shows and had the he slap stuff in the build up) but I’d imagine they’re fairly relaxed on the 600k buys for a fairly unknown (in the US) Russian challenger. The people who bought the PPV from DAZN who hadn’t previously subscribed will also be on the hook for subsequent monthly payments.

Plant was also for undisputed.

Boxing fans recognise that Bivols light heavy world title is worth as much as a weak 168 undisputedd. But building undisputed is so easy for casuals. "All the belts" "undisputed" "first ever 168 undisputed 4 belt champ" "first 4 belt mexican" all little tagline that are super easy to drop in a build up and make it feel like if you dont buy it your missing history.

Plus DAZN PPV is new and unproven and feels weird.

I think it was more those factors that plants profile.

Yeh, it was Showtime vs. DAZN

Showtime is a linear channel, DAZN is a hidden app..

600k isn't bad at all.

Boxers and promoters are excited over figures between 200k to 300k these days.

520k is the number reported by Dan Raf.

Someone said it was less than 300k and Hearn said it was double that. Then said it was over 600k and DAZN would back him up.

Either way, half of what was done for the GGG matches (and also JCC).

So the GGG fight is inevitable.

Eddie explicitly said it did over 600k in a couple of interviews. Said it won’t reach 700k but it’s done more than 600k.

On certain things I take what Eddie says with a pinch of salt but I’d be surprised if he’s out and out lying about it.

Either way I think we can all agree that the Golovkin fight is easier than the Bivol rematch and will generate more cash so not surprised it’s what they’re going with.

im not a fan of the fight, but if it allows bivol-beterbiev (assuming he beats smokin joe) for undisputed lhw in the meantime, then i'm all for it

btw, it gives some perspective on how much these other dudes need to step up. a lot of ppl dissappointed in this fight, ggg's old etc, yet ggg absolutely battered hyped up benavidez's last opponent, and in his last fight beat a guy far better than who charlo and andrade faced last time

Sorry to say I think GGG’s getting battered in this one, but can’t blame him cashing out.

Better not be PPV in the U.K. or I’m cancelling DAZN out of principle.

The poster stated PPV in the US and Canada so I’m assuming that’s it and it’s part of the normal subs in the U.K.

What weight will his be at? 168 I assume… is it for all Canelos’s ‘marbles’?

its cos he knows he has no future at 175 / bivol rematch .

GGG makes a lot more sense in terms of money and winability

Say one thing for Canelo, he doesn't mess around in booking in his next contest. Wish a number of others fought half as regularly...

Canelo's a G, regardless of how easily a lot of people think he'll deal with Golovkin this time, to get things done swiftly shows how boxing should be done

Fights 3 or 4 times a year every year too.

I dread to think how many fights he’s going to have had and how much money he’s going to have made when he retires.

I am predicting the opposite. I believe Golovkin will win by TKO.

Just curious, say the fight was PPV in the UK, what is the principle you make reference to ?
If it’s because they said they weren’t going to do PPV and now they say they are, well they’ve already announced that intention, so what has been holding you back from clicking that cancel button ?
