Loving the comments on this thread!

The problem is that younger people than me will lap up the BS and be buying their Eddie Hearn NFT’s!

NFTs aren't all pictures of monkeys and whatnot. There is the ability to eliminate touting if tickets were issued as NFTs, goes into it here https://www.entrepreneur.com/article/427707

Personally I hate going to boxing shows although small hall shows are good I've been to a few in Dundee when Ronnie Clark was coming up and it was always a good night and I go to most amateur shows here but I'll not go back to a big televised show, much better view on TV, cheaper and no dealing coked up wannabe hard men

Looks to me like that would be good for the promoter/artist but not the end user. It would actually encourage the secondary market. The promoter would benefit by getting a cut every time a ticket is resold on the secondary market. This would incentivise him to mess with the show, add fights, speculate about things that may or may not happen, etc, to create uncertainty and excitement.

1. Announce AJ v Usyk, with undercard, Tickets are snapped up by tout bots and resold (promoters gets ticket money and promoter gets a cut of resale)
2. Leak info that AJ has a niggly injury. Panic stations, Tickets sold (promoter gets a cut)
3. Come out and say everything is hunk dory. Tickets bought (promoter gets a cut)
4. Add a big fight at late notice. Tickets sold again for more (promoter gets a cut)
5. Usyk gets injured, last minute replacement brought in. Tickets sold (promoter gets a cut)

Etc...

It will just make it easier for the fans to get fucked with and fleeced,.

Yeah - I know what you mean. Am shows are my favourite as you get competitive fights and usually you can get into it without someone behind you saying that if Mike Tyson came back he’d probably beat Fury.

I dislike most small hall shows because there’s rarely a competitive fight and the away fighters rarely even try to win. I don’t remember the last small hall show that I enjoyed more than one fight.

I don’t go to as many big shows as I used to but if I do then I usually pay a bit more for the tickets to get a better view and there’s usually less chance of trouble.

Also, a promoter or an artist could advertise an event, cancel it and still make a fortune.

1. Announce Fury v Joshua. Sell £10 million of tickets at face value and set NFT to pay 20% to promoter's wallet of any secondary sales.
2. Secondary market buys 80% of tickets for £8 million and resells for double £16 million, Promoter gets £3.2 million of that.
3. Promoter cancels event and refunds the original £10 million. Keeps £3.2 million from resale royalties. Feet up. job done.
4. Announce the fight again three months later and repeat. It could probably be cancelled twice and still sell out for real the third time.

Also, if promoter sets NFT royalty at e.g. 50% the resellers will need to charge even more on the secondary market to make a profit.

Buy a ticket for a £100 and it needs to be £201 for the reseller to make £1. Rather than deterring touts it would just encourage them to charge even more. No way a promoter is going to set the NFT not to allow resale or for 100% to them in royalties (that would kill secondary). It pays for them for the secondary market to thrive and be volatile. There are so many ways to play it and make money before the event even happens.

Also, the carbon footprint of NFTs is obscene and the off-setting claims are bullshit. Like saying we'll burn your house down and then plant a tree where it stood and everything will be okay (or even worse, we'll burn one forest down and then buy another one somewhere else to offset the original one and burn that down at a later date and by one twice as big to offset it and the original one, etc, etc until we are all dead). That's pretty much what Google, Apple etc and all these other tech companies do, and blockchain men are just as bad if not worse.

I'm still getting my head around them. From what I have read, it seems barely anybody makes anything after the original purchase. In fact, a lpt of people have lost the shirts off their backs.

NFTs are for absolute imbeciles trying to get rich quick and shilling a bunch of nonsense. Literally every single ‘problem’ they claim to solve is either not a real issue or a better solution already exists. Digital ticketing has existed for years and years, it doesn’t need a fvcking blockchain. Morons.

I’m getting the same way now. There’s a show in Cardiff on Saturday which I was going to get tickets for, but just can’t be fvcked with the hassle. Will watch at home instead, may as well get some value out of my DAZN sub.

The promoter becomes the tout. I can see the benefits of signing up to this as the promoter can advertise all sorts of future events and also sell online merch as well. I get that but the end user/fan could get badly ripped off. This type of scheme would only be profitable for the very biggest events imo like a Joshua or Canelo ppv. This won't work for your average TV event. And also. The young fan may buy into this but what the about older generation? I will be interested to see how this pans out.
