Matchoom Fight Camp 2022?

Are they doing it this year?

Listened to the Hearn IFL interview yesterday.

He said Saturday is the only Matchoom UK card in June (off the back of one UK card in May and one in April). They are doing an O2 card at the start of July headlined by Derek Chisora, and he said there would be one other July card. So assumed that might be a fight camp as can't think what else it would be.

Benn isn't until September now.

I think they were looking at Birmingham or Liverpool for then.

Their U.K. shows have on the whole been good but there just haven’t been enough so far. It’d be nice if they had a NextGen every 6 weeks too.

I think they were looking at Birmingham or Liverpool for then.

I think they probably weren’t planning a second one but with AJ moving to to August (which is being rumoured now) it probably frees up a weekend.

They’ve got the fighters to put on a good show at the end of July in Liverpool. They don’t have loads of depth in Birmingham (the Yafais are obviously good but haven’t sold many tickets) and I think Dacres may still be injured.

I just wish they’d announce their shows a bit sooner. Nothing in the U.K. confirmed after this weekend. There will be probably be only 4 weeks for tickets going on sale for their July 9th show which has been discussed for about 8 weeks now.

Liam Smith, Callum as you mentioned (although he’ll likely be on the AJ card as you said), Fowler or a quick turnaround for Metcalf as chief support.

You’re right re: short term. I listened to an interview with Terri Harper earlier. She said she’d been told she’s fighting in July. Had no idea whether it was early or late in the month or who she was fighting. They just some to spreading themselves too thin at present. They could get away with no having loads of U.K. shows planned ahead at Sky but with DAZN I think if someone subs to watch U.K. fights and there’s nothing/not much confirmed then it’s an easy one to cancel.
