Three of my mates in the UK who are on a sports forum with me said they were suprised Warrington v Kiko wasn`t on TV. One of them said "I think its on DAZN" and the other one said "What`s that?"

These are hardcore sports fans but not specifically boxing. They watch boxing but not like I do. I was shocked that they had never really heard of DAZN. If blokes like them have no idea about DAZN, then the pure casual would have no chance.

Give it a year or two and Eddie will be out of there. It doesnt have the platform in the UK to market itself properly to the casual.

Eddie clealry said at DAZN`s boxing launch that we would get 12 PPV worthy cards included in the subscription and 4 mega cards a year where every fight would be worthy of stand alone PPV. All this was supposed to be included in the monthly subscription cos PPV was dead.

Now we havent seen anything like this, and I dont recall one mega fight card to date. Now we are told that just one mega fight (Canelo and/or AJ) HAS to be PPV as its the only model that can work.

Hearn is s snake oil salesman and I have lost so much respect for that bloke over the past few years. No one seems to have the balls to put this on him and have hm admit he was wrong (which he never will)

I`m going with Schlong :) far less ego, at least for now
DAZN will win some footy rights in 2024/25, at some point Matchroom will move the darts over to DAZN, they’ll get a channel on the sky platform to show PPVs, it all takes time, your mates didn’t know about DAZN but now they do

Crazy to strip him if true. Was fighting his mandatory and clearly seems to be a genuine injury.

IBF just enforcing the rules (good statement on Dewi Powell's Twitter post). As long as he's installed as the mandatory at some point in 2023, I think it's fair enough.

Whilst part of me respects the IBF for enforcing their rules better than the other organisations I just think this is the time to use the interim. Let Barret and Rak fight for the interim with the winner fighting Cordina in the spring.

Have IBF ever used an interim belt?

Yes - I’m pretty sure Lee Haskins was IBF interim champ at one point.

I’m usually against interim titles, particularly the way the WBA used them and the way the WBO used it for Joyce/Parker when Usyk isn’t injured and just fought.

This just seemed like a reasonable opportunity to use the interim fairly.

Yeh. The IBF use them very rarely then.. unlike the others.

The Joyce-Parker was absolutely no need. Just a money making scam to get additional sanctioning fees.

No one see’s Joyce as the champion. He’s just the mandatory.

Pretty certain that Robbie Reagan was one of the first interim world champions ever with the IBF?

With Warrington losing, Eddie is down to just one (Big Lawrence) and he's trying his hardest to get away.

I'd credit eddie for 1 x "3 min champ". but its paid in instalments...

-1/2 a champ for leigh wood having the WBA reg (normaly its 1/100th of a champ but underdog and fight of the year to win it i'll give him half champ status).

- 1/2 "ownership" of Laurence okolie whos a full champ... (wording consistent with Laurences slavey accusations).

Babic, future undisputed Bridgerweight champ...

Realistically you're only looking at one of his guys picking up a vacant belt, perhaps if Gal Yafai can take on some huge fights he could.

I think with AJ not as big of a cashcow as he was before, Hearn will call himself a global promoter as he has GGG, Bivol etc. He has a great stable everywhere else, just not enough champs here. Should probably have a "Junior Promoter" to promote Matchroom UK if he's focusing on big US names though.

Cordina will likely fight for the IBF belt in Feb.

So that’s a shout.

Callum Smith is headlining Liverpool as wel but I doubt that’ll be for a world title.

Who needs UK world champions when he can PPV someone like Benn or Eubank Jr?
The belts don't seem that important any more, it's all in the beef baby! :yay:
