De La Hoya 'Can't Wait' To Sell Golden Boy Promotions: 'I'm Sitting On Billion-Dollar Company'
On Tuesday, Ryan Garcia officially kickstarted the promotional tour of his upcoming fight against Javier Fortuna on July 16.
Missing from the press conference was Fortuna, who opted to stay back training in Puerto Rico and instead fielded questions virtually with select media. Another principal figure missing from the media festivities was Golden Boy Promotions head Oscar De La Hoya.
Although a seven-foot-tall bronze statue of himself sat outside Star Plaza at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, the Hall of Fame fighter instead handled several media obligations earlier in the day nearby in his downtown headquarters.
In one specific interview, De La Hoya started promoting the possible sale of the boxing company he founded in 2002 to potential investors.
"I'm sitting on a billion-dollar company," De La Hoya told ESPN. "And I can't wait to get rid of it. And most importantly, I can't wait to be the very first fighter ever to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a promoter as well. These are goals that I have."
"We're sitting on a gold mine. When I'm ready to get out, the time will come. But in the meantime, that's the reason I want to make these big fights happen. It's crucial. It's crucial for the sport. It's crucial for my company. It's crucial, most importantly, for the fan base."
The big-time fight the 49-year-old De La Hoya was alluding to was a proposed November showdown pitting Garcia against Gervonta Davis.
"I'm ready to give Tank Davis a multi-multimillion-dollar [deal]," said De La Hoya. "I strongly feel that's the fight to make. Those are the types of fights that make superstars."
De La Hoya has been adamant to stage a joint pay-per-view with DAZN and Showtime.
The development of De La Hoya trying to sell Golden Boy dropped during the middle of a Garcia roundtable discussion involving BS.com and several other media outlets.
When Garcia was asked to share his thoughts about a potential sale involving Golden Boy, he appeared surprised and raised his eyebrows twice. He looked in the direction of his team, which included his parents Henry and Lisa Garcia as well as his advisor, Lupe Valencia.
Before Garcia could offer a response, Valencia quipped: “ask him how much – maybe we’ll buy it.”

Can we have more than one vote please?
I believe it is a cocktail.
And maybe "BILLION" is a name for a buttplug, because if he is sitting on anything, it will be a buttplug.

Re: De La Hoya 'Can't Wait' To Sell Golden Boy Promotions: 'I'm Sitting On Billion-Dollar Company'
Golden Boy’s original deal with DAZN obliged Oscar De La Hoya to promote up to ten events per year, with an annual budget in the range of $15m to $18m.
You can't stage impressive events with a budget that small.
And I’m guessing the contract extension that GBP signed with DAZN last month would have similar terms, because nothing has really changed since their first deal (other than Canelo's departure).
Also, if you review Golden Boy’s stable, the only recognisable commercially-popular names are Ryan Garcia, Jaime Munguia, Vergil Ortiz Jr. and Gilberto Ramirez.
So I’d be surprised if GBP was valued at slightly more than $60m, let alone $1bn.
Perhaps Oscar really does want to sell the company and has cited the fake $1bn valuation figure to grab the media headlines, to invite offers from potential buyers?

De La Hoya Wants To Sit Down With Dana White To Bury The Hatchet
Golden Boy Promotions CEO Oscar De La Hoya would love to bury the hatchet with UFC President Dana White.
The two executives, who at one time were good friends, have been feuding for several years.
The rivalry first began in 2017, when De La Hoya urged fans to boycott the pay-per-view fight between Floyd Mayweather and UFC superstar Conor McGregor.
Their dispute erupted even further in 2018, when De La Hoya's company staged an MMA event in direct conflict with UFC Fight Night 141.
De La Hoya revealed that he's moving to the city of Las Vegas, where White lives and the UFC is headquartered, and wants to end his rivalry with UFC exec.
“Dana criticized me and all that, for a good reason, it’s for a good reason. There were some exchanges going back and forth, me and Dana, which I apologized to him a 1,000 percent. I think that there’s still a lot of business to be done between me and Dana in the future," White told The MMA Hour.
“If he ever wants to talk and sit down, imagine merging our two powerhouses together and creating something together. It would be pretty unique. I would love to work with him. I’m actually building a house in Las Vegas, I’m going to move there full time to focus more on my business, and other businesses I have as well but yeah, it would be a lot of fun, interesting to build something together. Boxing is a very fragmented sport and what the Fertitta brothers did and Dana did with the UFC is incredible.
“I’m extending an olive branch and I would love to sit down and talk and smooth things out. Let bygones be bygones and then focus on business.”

I don't really know why he keeps getting press time. He does jack sh*t as a promoter, and just babbles absolute nonsense anymore. They need to quit even acknowledging him until he gets his sh*t together. He's embarrassing himself.
Re: De La Hoya 'Can't Wait' To Sell Golden Boy Promotions: 'I'm Sitting On Billion-Dollar Company'
His relevance as a promoter is fading.

I watched a YouTube video on TheMacLife channel titled Dana White has ALL-TIME rant on "sack of s***" Oscar De La Hoya; Shows documents to debunk lies. I don't think they are ever reconciling.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑09 Jun 2022, 12:59 De La Hoya Wants To Sit Down With Dana White To Bury The Hatchet

"im sitting on billion dollar company"
when oscar says that, it most likely means he's having a fishnet party and is actually sitting on some rich old dude as part of a depraved sex act

Re: De La Hoya 'Can't Wait' To Sell Golden Boy Promotions: 'I'm Sitting On Billion-Dollar Company'
Eddie Hearn derided De La Hoya for his recent claim that he received a 10-figure offer to sell his company. De La Hoya told ESPN recently that he wishes to find a buyer for Golden Boy.
“Billion dollar offer?” Hearn said rhetorically, while making a mocking gesture. “He’s just off his swede. Take a few zeros off of it and that will be the value.”
