£1m? Seriously? I may be way off, but I doubt Inoue himself made much more than half that for fighting Donaire. I wouldn't have thought Butler has ever made more than £50k for a fight. No idea what he'll make for fighting Inoue, I hope he's paid well, but a million sounds outrageous - I doubt it's much more than a fifth of that, if even that much.Glass Joe wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 08:06Poor money for Butler if he doesn't come away with at least a million after every deduction. Depending where Butty lives he will “want a house” with his purse. Not a bad demand but it’s just cashing out.
His purse for an Inoue 4 belt fight will get him around 300/400k and he will be going to Saitama.
What you reckon he's left with?

It’s all based on commercial value.
I’m sure he’ll be happy with £100k.
Inoue’s team will probably say take it or leave it..
Where else does Butler go from there?

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
Let’s be honest here, this is a complete waste of time for Japanese champions legacy. Butler is in no way shape or form a competitive match, or even a legit titleholder; and nobody cares really if the monster is holding a WBO strap or not
he should be going for the big gun legacy fights while he’s at his peak, instead of wasting half a year for a no name knock over job.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
I’d imagine he’d get 400k and use maybe 120k on that on expenses/fees. All conjecture but lower weights tend to pay less and it’s a fight that no one wants to see unless you’re a pure boxing purist. And even then we all know it’s a mismatch.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 07:35Take out all his expenses? trainer/manager, tax, flights, hotel etc..Dioufy wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 07:15 His purse be given on the terms of other doomed Brits fighting monsters.

Yep - Inoue should try and get the Butler fight sorted inside the next 12 weeks and then move up or so if one of the top Super Flys is planning on moving up.Dioufy wrote: ↑10 Jun 2022, 10:03I’d imagine he’d get 400k and use maybe 120k on that on expenses/fees. It's such a mismatch that nobody wants to see it. Butler and his team wants the payday and Inoue wants the legacy but there isn't a person on the planet who gives Butler any chance at all. I wouldn't even back him if you gave me 100/1.
Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
Tbh I thought you was implying 400k was too low.
I said 300/400k and he’d be going to Saitama.
You might be right; it may be as low as 250k.
Not a lot considering Naoya hits like a 737.
Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
I don't give Butler a prayer, but he's roughly a contender. It wouldn't be the first time a lowly contender got a shot at a great world champion (as I mentioned earlier, Paul Lloyd).
If Inoue is out fighting again within 4/5 months of winning, I can live with this match. Adding the last piece of the jigsaw (WBO title) tends to serve boxing well....there's nothing to dispute, one champion and Nayoa richly deserves that accolade & status

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
I don't give TBFA a chance either, but I DO give him a chance of doing himself proud, outboxing The Monster for a round or two, getting ground down in about 4.
Think that's more likely than KO1 with the first punch like most seem to think.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
Butler's good at International level (below world class), but will deserve very high praise if he outboxes Inoue for 2 rounds and hears the bell to end the 2nd round.
If Paul tries to put it on Inoue like the guy who outclassed Butler (Emmanuel Rodriguez)....he'll go exactly the same way, only quicker.

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
i mean a guy who absolutely tooled butler and nearly stopped him in 1 got destroyed by inoue in 2. a bunch of tough guys who'd never been stopped before (unlike butler) have been destroyed within one or two by inoue. i dont think people are too far off
i can see butler being evaporated in 1, though can also see it going into 4 like you say. my prediction would be that he gets battered the first 2 and then stopped in the 3rd. if he just comes to survive, maybe he can last a bit longer, but he's not going to outbox inoue. inoue is just too good for that. aside from the power, he's got the speed and timing to land
imo butler won 0 rounds vs tete and roddy

However much Nayoa Inoue is being celebrated on this forum, it's not enough !
Nothing lasts forever and Inoue brings everything a boxing fan could want to the table everytime.
Enjoy every minute of his career while it lasts![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

You catch Naoya checking your girl out in a bar you’d happily walk over to have a word until he’d send you back 48 years to the rumble in the jungle.

That's basically it.
How much is Butler willing to sell the belt for?
What is Inoue's team and Top Rank gonna pay for the belt.

Brilliant.
To be fair, I've not thrown a punch since I was a kid. I'm thin as a rake, lover not a fighter.
If I saw that little guy at a bar, I'd think it was my best opportunity to look hard.

Inoue: I Want To Give Performances Worthy of a Number 1 Pound-For-Pound Fighter!
WBC, IBF, WBA bantamweight world champion Naoya Inoue (23-0, 20 KOs) is looking to stamp his top-tier status as a pound-for-pound great by capturing the last remaining title - and then making a move up to super bantamweight.
Earlier this month, Inoue destroyed future Hall of Famer Nonito Donaire in two rounds. Their bout was a rematch of a Fight of The Year battle from 2019, which Inoue won by decision.
The recent victory, combined with last month's loss by Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez, allowed Inoue to gain status as the new pound-for-pound king by many observers.
"People were saying that me becoming the number one pound-for-pound fighter all depended on what happened in the Donaire fight, and things worked out as well as I could have imagined," said Inoue to France 24.
"From here on, I want to give performances worthy of the number one pound-for-pound fighter. In order to do that, I need to unify the bantamweight world titles and then take on the super bantamweight division."
The UK's Paul Butler currently holds the WBO world title. He won the vacant belt back in April, with a decision win over Jonas Sultan. The belt became vacant when champion John Riel Casimero violated weight-making procedures for the fight.
Inoue hopes to get that fight in the coming months.
"If it happens by the end of this year, I don't care whether it happens in Japan, the US or Britain," Inoue said. "It doesn't really matter to me. I want the fight wherever it is.
" show everyone who comes to watch me what I can do. I think that's how I've been able to get my record of 23 wins with 20 knockouts. I always try to knock out my opponent and I think that's been recognized. I'd like to think when I turn 35, I will be able to look back and think I was happy that I became a boxer. If I'm able to feel that, I think I'll be content."

Re: Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler | Undisputed - Who wins?
Donaire Explains What Butler Must Do To Have Any Chance Against Inoue
Nonito Donaire has warned Paul Butler he must correct two mistakes if he is going to have any chance of upsetting Naoya Inoue.
Talks are on-going for an undisputed world bantamweight title fight between the UK’s Butler and Japanese hero Inoue before the end of the year.
Donaire was brutally stopped by Inoue inside two rounds, in June, and says Butler – the WBO title holder – must employ the type of tactics he had intended to use and avoid getting drawn into a fight with ‘Monster’.
The Filipino Flash has studied Butler’s win over Jonas Sultan in Liverpool in April and has some advice for the 33-year-old.
“What Butler has to avoid is reaching and sometimes in the Sultan fight he was reaching,” Donaire told Probellum.com.
“There were also times when he stood still which is very dangerous when you fight Inoue, who has a tremendous body shot.
“It is a very difficult fight for Butler if he stays in there but if he moves around, he is going to make it difficult for Inoue as well.”
Butler’s victory over Sultan in Liverpool saw him win the WBO interim world bantamweight title but the following month he was upgraded to full champion.
And though the 34-2 fighter has been called out by Probellum stablemates, including Sunny Edwards and Lee McGregor, Butler only had eyes for an undisputed showdown with Inoue, who holds the WBC, IBF, WBA titles.
“He is very confident in himself and boxing the way he boxed Sultan, would be the best style for him against Inoue,” Donaire added.
“Using his jab, utilising his speed and lateral movement. That was something I had planned to use in the fight with Inoue, but I ended up getting caught up in fighting. We came into the fight with a game-plan to box and that is something Butler should be able to do because he is used to that type of fighting."

What Butler needs to bring to the fight is a bloody shotgun!
