Naoya Inoue's amateur fight against Rongguo Wu

Post by ieatpasta24l7 »

Naoya Inoue fought against China's Rongguo Wu in the semi-final of the 2011 President's Cup tournament. Inoue was victorious. But apparently there's confusion about the score.

BoxRec says the result is 21–9.

Wikipedia says the result is 21–19.

So I did a little research, and found this report about Inoue's performance in that tournament. The website is in Japanese language. So right click and translate to English.

https://www.townnews.co.jp/0403/2011/07 ... F%E3%80%82

Translate says "The most difficult battle was against China in the semi-finals. I couldn't carry out the match as I imagined, and I got a lot of punches. Inoue allowed the opponent to lead 2 points in the 1st and 2nd rounds, but was not defeated there. He showed his full mental strength in the third round and regained two points to win the decision.".

So I suppose the real score was 21–19. Can anyone confirm it?

Yes, it does according to the source. I wonder if BoxRec editors can confirm it and correct it if there's a mistake.

According to: http://amateur-boxing.strefa.pl/Tournam ... up2011.pdf the result is 21-19. It´s now been corrected on Boxrec.
