Re: who is the best light heavy?
I voted Bivol, only because he beat the guy that some dumb shits thought would beat Usyk. Head to head? Not sure? Maybe Zurdo beats Bivol? Honestly though, Beterbiev deserves the #1 ranking at 175, no question. I do, however, think Bivol gives Beterbieiv a much tougher fight than what's his name.

zurdo, lol, what a guy zurdo is
Re: who is the best light heavy?
It's a tough call and this must be determined right now. I lean slightly towards Beterbiev. Bivol can take a punch, but probably not Beter's one. Bivol can outbox Beter too, but the distance is too long.

If i were bill gates/ elon musk/ amazon man this is how i would find out.
-Beterb vs Bivol + Yard vs Buatsi. + Canelo vs GGG
-Russia winner vs england winner + canelo vs Zuro
-Russia/england winner vs Mexico winner.
All excelent meaningfull fights that really really should make everyone involved money. yet seemingly a pipedream.

If boxing was ran like pretty much any other sport, that is the kind of thing that would happen.
The losers would also get to fight eachother and have another run at the top spot down the line.
Re: who is the best light heavy?
Beterbiev was knocked down by Callum Johnson,
Has Bivol ever been knocked down ?

not that i know of, although joe smith did rock him slightly, that's the only time i've seen him hurt. he doesn't get hit clean much so hard to give it a precise amount. clearly it's not glass and clearly he's not got an undentable freak chin.

Re: who is the best light heavy?
id take bivol over gvozdyk, more accurate, more fluid. good enough defensively to avoid KO shots. while not as hard a puncher, he's a better boxer, you'd never see him dropped by a C level guy like tommy karpency
bert and bivol probably are undefeated against each others opposition. against opponents they can both easily hit, bert will pretty much always look more impressive because he has a lot more power. i think atm its only them who could beat each other. maybe canelo could as well considering that he'd basically only need to actually win 4 rounds to get a decision

Re: who is the best light heavy?
I voted Bivol, but not with complete confidence.
I just believe that if they met, Bivol would take a close points win.
I just hope we don't get another Stevenson/Kovalev situation where the two big dogs circle and insult each other, but never actually fight.
Bivol/Beterbiev is boxing's other must happen fight after Spence/Crawford.

he is so damn good he doesn't have to win a single round and the fight is still even after 10.
Re: who is the best light heavy?
Bivol is a pretty solid boxer as was evident against Canelo, but he was boxing against someone moving up and held some physical advantages.
Beterbiev on the other hand is an absolutely monster puncher on a level that we don`t get to see too often, literally anything he lands on an opponent is going to do some damage.
Hard not to lean toward Beterbiev at this point, he was outstanding on the weekend and has firmly put himself on the boxing must see radar.
Put me down for Art.

Re: who is the best light heavy?
Gvozdyk is bigger, just as good, and more powerful. Bivol would shell up and lose wide, imo. People forget how good Gvozdyk was.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 01:20 id take bivol over gvozdyk, more accurate, more fluid. good enough defensively to avoid KO shots. while not as hard a puncher, he's a better boxer, you'd never see him dropped by a C level guy like tommy karpency

And Beterbiev got dropped in his fights, btw. Bivol is a safety-first fighter that takes little to no chances. I can't see him beating monstrously big fighter with a huge punch like Gvozdyk.

disagree.........gvodzyk had good but defo not huge power, he was easier to hit than bivol, and less fluid and accurate. bigger guy and bigger puncher, but bivol the better boxer
Re: who is the best light heavy?
Wtf, he almost killed Stevenson, dude. He has huge power.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 21:32 disagree.........gvodzyk had good but defo not huge power, he was easier to hit than bivol, and less fluid and accurate. bigger guy and bigger puncher, but bivol the better boxer

Re: who is the best light heavy?
serious ring injuries and fatalities are usually an accumulation and exhaustion thing, not a huge power thingy. they virtually never happen early from a single big shot flattening someone, and often the winning fighter has average power at best, hence why their opponent stayed up to take such a beating.. hannah rankin just put an opponent in a coma too, is she a huge puncher now as well?
gvo-steve ended in the 11th of a tough fight. if gvo had huge power and laid adonis flat in round 1 it's highly unlikely he would've suffered such serious long term injury
good puncher, but not a great one who i think could one shot bomb out bivol

Re: who is the best light heavy?
The nail has been beaten by Bert in the amateurs. Respect to him but he was clearly intimidated and mentally compromised imo. Bivol is the smarter fighter and I believe he would fare better against Bert.
Re: who is the best light heavy?
Lol accumulation. Stevenson got laid out, wtf are you talking about!?margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 22:08 serious ring injuries and fatalities are usually an accumulation and exhaustion thing, not a huge power thingy. they virtually never happen early from a single big shot flattening someone, and often the winning fighter has average power at best, hence why their opponent stayed up to take such a beating.. hannah rankin just put an opponent in a coma too, is she a huge puncher now as well?

So a 70% stoppage ratio doesn't mean anything unless you lay out a reigning champion in 1 round
Re: who is the best light heavy?
Now I can't wait to see this fight. Reminds me a lot of the people who were saying Usyk was too small for LHW. Beterbiev beats Bivol in easy fashion. Gvozdyk H2H is a far better win.
Beterbiev/Gvozdyk was like the Usyk/Briedis fight in the WSB.

steve got laid out at the end of a long tough fight, is hannah rankin a huge puncher too just because she put someone in a coma? seems like it if we go by 'omg they almost killed them!'Mexi-Box wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 22:53Lol accumulation. So a 70% stoppage ratio doesn't mean anything unless you lay out a reigning champion in 1 round. I guess Deontay Wilder was only a good puncher since he couldn't KO Fury in one round. Klitschko wasn't a huge puncher either because he "accumulated" a KO win over Pulev.

gvo had good but not great power. the guys he flattened were mostly 3rd tier opposition and then he went long in his fights vs world class opponents, not putting a dent in bert (who'd been dropped not many fights before) and needing 11 rounds and plenty of right hands to wear down old steve. he didnt hurt medhi amar or ngumbu either in his other wbc title fights either. i think he'd have the power to make bivol cautious but not to ko him or shut down his counters
wilder-fury and wlad-pulev are weird cases to mention. wlad dropped pulev within a minute with pretty much the first power shot he threw, had him down and hurt repeatedly, and stopped him way faster than gvo stopped stevenson. wilder hardly landed anything yet still manged to put fury down twice and nearly ko him
Re: who is the best light heavy?
... but they weren't first round KOs! There is nothing weird about it. This is boxing. Higher caliber fighters will withstand punches better, hence why GGG couldn't stop Canelo or Jacobs even though he hits hard. Kovalev didn't stop Darnell Boone I guess he was just a good puncher.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 23:12steve got laid out at the end of a long tough fight, is hannah rankin a huge puncher too just because she put someone in a coma? seems like it if we go by 'omg they almost killed them!'Mexi-Box wrote: ↑20 Jun 2022, 22:53Lol accumulation. Gvozdyk almost killed a reigning champion, and he has a 70% stoppage rate. He hits really hard and has the power to stop anyone at LHW. You're bringing up Hannah Rankin is just a straw man.
