Definitely tempted to go to this one though - only thing that puts me off is the unreliability of any Warren card...

Goes without saying that Bet v Biv is the fight we all want to see but i don’t get all the anti Yarde comments. Gave a good account of himself v Kov and then had two big domestic clashes with Arthur who everyone was touting for a world title shot himself before Yarde destroyed him in the rematch.

Out of all the Brits he’s probably the one most deserving of a title shot, certainly moreso than Buatsi

i thought he laid a bit of an egg vs kov tbh. i picked him to win that fight, but aside from that big round and a half he hardly did a thing. just kinda of marched forward without letting his hands go, losing round after round as kov jabbed and moved a bit. was frustrating to watch cuz i thought he could get to kov. then when he finally does unload, he's gassed almost as soon as he gets started and ends up ko'd by a jab

a lot of these comments arent really hating on yarde at all tbh. he is probably gonna be ktfo. his prep hasnt been ideal (another huge leap without an in between), etc. of course ppl are gonna be disappointed its not the undisputed fight. there are some positives to this one of course, with it being in the uk, and two big bangers. though not sure how much yarde will be able to put his stuff to use.

I’m no big fan of Yarde and I fully expect Bet to deal with him easily but I think he’s worthy of a shot if the unification fight can’t be made. He fought in December so not that inactive given we’re coming out of a pandemic and he did enough against Kov to warrant another title shot given how everything was stacked against him that night. Kov’s display a few weeks later against Canelo also reflects well on Yarde

i dont really rate his showing vs kov tbh. thought he won 2 rounds and he was ultimately ko'd by a jab, having punched himself out almost as soon as he starting going for it. destroying arthur to avenge his loss prob puts him around lower top 10-12 range atm though, he's not an awful challenger or anything, and bert being in the uk adds some fun, but i hate when top fights are cockblocked

I don’t remember anyone saying Arthur should challenge for a world title. I personally never particularly rated and outside of Yarde he hasn’t really beat anyone of note.

Why do you think Yarde is the most deserving of a title shot? Do you think his wins are better than those of Buatsi?

Everyone’s on board…except Beterbiev who seemed more keen on Bivol. Hopefully this isn’t another Joyce/Parker.

good question

who is arthur's best win outside yarde?
who is yarde's best win outside arthur?

it's a funny situation where yarde's most credible win is beating a guy whose credibility was largely based on beating him. kinda got a 2 man circle jerk thing going on

Could do with British promoters not announcing fights until they are actually signed. From Eddie "announcement in the next two weeks, within the next three months" Hearn to Frank "live together on BT, but leaving just enough doubt to allow Boxxer to get on the phone to Parker's management" Warren it's a heavily annoying trend.

They would have kept fighting each other until one was mandatory.

I genuinely don’t think Arthur would win the British title. Yet he’s Yarde’s best win after he was beaten by him.

Arthur is not good I agree with you. He has struggled in fights. Yarde is just not a bright guy in my opinion. Keeping that team, fighting the way he has, you can't even trust him to come in with a good gameplan here. I don't think he trusts his stamina after gassing vs Kovalev so we will get a low volume effort where he tries to fight off the backfoot and eventually gets done trying to roll with shots. Beterbiev will have read him like a book after a couple of rounds. I'll be doing my best to make a case for Yarde because he will be a huge underdog and Beterbiev is getting older by the day. Joe Smith was coming right at Beterbiev which clearly you don't do as Beterviev will pick you apart and has concussive power. I think Yarde needs to hurt him early. If I can see a way that happens then I could see myself having a small punt. I look forward to looking into it more and trying to make a case for Yarde. At the moment the problem is I can't see Beterbiev having any main weaknesses other than age. Caught with a left hook from Callum Johnson in an exchange and taken rounds by negative guys with good stamina but otherwise he's looked very good. He throws a lot of mickey mouse punches which disguise the power punches.

The fact that he DIDN’T stop Kov that round showed where he was at.

He went broke and just tried to KO him.

He didn’t really do much else apart from that round.

Apart from Arthur and Kovalev.

Of the top of my head, I don’t even know who else he’s fought.

Whereas I can at least make 3/4 that Buatsi has fought.

Undoubtedly Yarde's best win is Arthur so while Anthony doesnt have the deepest resume, on the basis that Richards and Arthur are pretty evenly matched i think the way Yarde despatched Arthur is a better win than Buatsi's narrow win over Richards.

Richards gave Bivol a decent test and beat an unbeaten Pitters for the British on an away show.

I’d say that puts him ahead of Arthur.

Buatsi beat Richards and had a good win against an in form Bolotniks. I’d put both these wins ahead of anything Yarde has done. I also thought Buatsi’s win against Calic was a pretty good one too after seeing how competent he was.

I don’t get why they’re saying o2.. yeh it’s a known arena but they probably gonna tarp off the top.

It probably doesn’t sell 10k..

Only hardcore fans know Bert..
How many fans has Yarde got?

At least in the US, they pick the right arenas..

I don’t think Yarde’s sold out the Copper Box let alone got close to 20,000. It’s a good fight and I could imagine it doing 14-15,000.
