I know it might sound ridiculous post Hatton fight but I think Tszyu had the perfect style to beat Mayweather. If it had been Mayweather and not Hatton in there that night I think Tszyu might have won it with the right hand.

Maybe, but PBFs defense, caution, stamina and concentration was much better than Judah and Mitchell. And he isn't a southpaw and his chin isn't china.

Tyszus a tough prospect for anyone so maybe he would win, but if Mitchell went 50-50 with him for 9rounds, hatton beat him to the punch and outworked him. Tyszu-PBF may have turned out like the Corrales fight as Tyszu didnt have the pressure to bring to PBF. Maybe Tyszu would KO PBF though who knows.

BTW why are we saying PBF only moved to 140 after Tyszu was dethroned, he was at 140 when he beat Corley and Brussells ages before that.

One of Tszyu's laser like right hands bang on target and I think Mayweather would be as good as finished. Anyway I don't think he'd beat him now but a year or two ago perhaps a different story.

Bit simplistic, I thought the same about Hatton against Tyszu, PBFs chin is pretty good, his guard and shoulder roll defense is great and he rarely gets hits with right hands and the right hand isnt as effective as it is on a southpoor. PBF has taken flush shots from Castillo/Judah who arent quite at Tyszus level power wise but not far off, also Tyszu doesnt land that often and this is on people with lesser defenses than PBF.

Zoo is a better judge of range than Corrales, has better skills and imo and harder punch. Mayweather isn't going to swam over Tszyu like Hatton did and smother him on the inside, he's going to fight at range and Tszyu picks his punches better than anyone Mayweather has fought.

A couple of years back I would have made it a 50/50

Tszyu did best against fighters who stood off him, which I think Mayweather would do. He also had an excellent chin and was very very strong, only Hatton in recent times is stronger at the weight. He relied on being able to time his opponents, as he wasn't very quick or mobile, but he would usually find the shot to hit and hurt. He struggled against Urkal because Urkal fought on the front foot and made him back off, exactly what Hatton did. Mayweather would not be able to do so, and would need ot pick and poke to win.

Tszyu is right up there for me as one of the best fighters of the 90's, a great fighter.

Who'd he actually beat though? I think his comp was missing something. And what happened when he got dragged into deep waters he got drowned. I also hate hearing his excusefor losing to Phillips, I was stressed and couldnt prepare as well. Well Phillips was a homeless crackhead I think his prep was a little more taxing Kostya. I love watching Kostya land his brutal KO blows, but when he couldn't land them he was lacking. I think DLH/Mosley/PBF would all have beat him - DLH very comfortably.

I'm not a floyd hater, he is a remarkable talent, no doubt, but talent of that order should be taking on the best fighters of his era, as Leonard, Duran and Hearns did. They didn't just move up and take on the weakest belt holders, they took on their peers.

Hatton has nowhere near the same level of talent, he's good at what he does, but we have seen his limitations, even moving up 7 lbs in weight nullifed his offensive prowess and left him vulnerable to the other man's punches. Hatton is all about strength and workrate and pressure, not qualities that translate well in moving up the weights. Floyd is possibly the most complete fighter I've seen in my lifetime, as evidenced by the fact he still looks unassailable at 147 (albeit not taking on the most potentially dangerous opponents), despite his best weight probably being 135.

Floyd has all the skills Leonard had, but not his desire or heart and as a result will never be mentioned in the same hushed tones, which is a shame as I think that had he stayed at 140 he could have really cleaned up.

Fair cop I suppose, but maybe you could say Mayweather has all ready achieved what Leonard did but at Super Feather/Lightweight.

Leonard did it at Welter/Middle (with one win) but his wins/defences of his Light Middleweight/Super Middleweight/and Light Heavyweight titles were not all that.

For Leonard's Hearns/Hagler/Benitez/Duran as a Welter/Middle we could have Corrales/Manfredy/Castillo/Chavez/Hernardez/Carlos Hernandez/ Vargas etc.

Leonard cleaned up the Welterweight and Middleweights - but so did Floyd as a Super Featherweight / Lightweight. Okay, the wer two fighter who Floyd never fought around at that time.... Acelino Freitas and Joel Casamayor... but Leonard did miss out some excellent contenders also... Don Curry, Marlon Starling, Aaron Pryor etc.

My point to my last post was is that people are saying Floyd is wasting his talent, but at least he is fighting - what the f is happening to Ricky.

Other than Phillips he beat everyone who was around who would face him. His performance in the Mitchell rematch was unbelievable after that layoff. His swansong so it turns out.

Have you seen his fight with Hurtado? Slightly off the radar really but one of the best fights I have ever seen.

That was a very good fight, I sometimes wonder if Hurtado was ruined by the beating he took from Whitaker though. Not trying to cast doubts over Tyszu but Hurtado took about 10 solid rights after been ko'd on the ropes. Did you see that 1 Hurtado 1 every round up until the KO.
