Re: Standings/Rules; 2022 Fight Picks Contest -NEW PLAYERS WELCOME!!
JCS has kindly shared his explanation for his final season of PTBF.
As followed:
CLOSE = Fight's decision is a split decision, majority decision, or a unanimous decision where the total difference in points are 10 (8 for 10-rounder) or less for the winning fighter.
WIDE = Fight's decision is a unanimous decision where the total difference in points are between 11 and 19 (9 and 16 for 10-rounder) for the winning fighter.
DOMINANT = Fight's decision is a unanimous decision where the total difference in points is 20 (17 for 10-rounder) or more for the winning fighter.
------------
Hope this makes sense and we can probably use it. Seems simple enough for me.

Dude's. Just keep it simple. The current format is fine. It's for fun, not a money league.

I like simple..
But i'm for the decision method. Because we get to pick a stoppage round to earn additional points, so why not get additional points for decision as well.
Did you play in JCS's PTBF?

I like the look of the proposed new points system, they seem basic and fair.
Predicting a KO in the correct round should always gain you more more than predicting a decision...although I like the fact that it's only a couple of points extra. As has been stated, if you fluke a couple of correct stoppage results, you'll get a shed load of points for being lucky!
I've been fairly rubbish so far (Bryan to beat Dubois for example
) so I'm happy to go with the concensus.

This is the kind of thing we wanna avoid...the other explanation of the method includes doing a load of calculations and this thing already takes enough time as it is. There's also the fact that we sometimes include more obscure fights where I don't get full judge tallys right away (like the south african fight the other week), so I'm reluctant to add this part. Just stick to the new points which I have rejigged in the original post.
I know there's extra points on offer for the stoppage and not decisions, but that's just the nature of it and adds some risk/reward factor.
These are the new points.
Correct winner: 5 points
Correct method: 8 points
Correct round: 10 points
Correct draw: 20 points

the June contest has finished and so concludes Season 1 of the Fight Picks Contest!
oogiebe (the bastard) is crowned the winner of fight picks season 1 with a points tally of 765!! Well done chap
adislav123 put up a credible challenge in 2nd place on 750 (oogiebe exta 15 bonus points which was the difference!)
I came in 3rd place 10 points further back with 740 points. May was a big let down!
