Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Hammer
Hammer tried to show he came to fight and win when he starting throwing them looping hooks and missing.
But we know he was just faking it.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Hammer
Saying hammer wasnt motivated and took a way out crazy talk.
He didnt shell up and accept a loss, he tried to win the only way he could, chin joyce. and he tried hard. even after he was hurt he was throwing bombs. Hammer proabably could of kingpined it, gone into his shell, and made it 8 rounds or so, but he went for it and gassed early as a result. his fitness probably wasnt prime due to short notice, but he put in a fair effort. (interestingly he did what many think AJ sould of done vs usyk, swing hard and if you gass you gass because your less skilled and wont win on points, he just did it on a 2 week camp so instead of lasting 6 or 7 he lasted 4)...
its not like he stayed down on a soft shot for a 10 count, ref waved it, for all we know hammer was getting up he just needed a break, its what happens you put a 30-50th ish guy in with one of the most fuked up people to box in the history of the world, 100 billion of people have lived on earth, joyce may be the most fuked high cardio, steel jaw, big man plodder of them all....(not saying he is the best boxer, just saying he is a uniquely fuked up puzzle to solve).

Wilder will surely face Helenius, Martin or Kownacki. Not sure who else is even at PBC and Showtime anymore other than Arreola (beat), Breazeale (beat), Kauffman, Ortiz(beat), Ruiz (Vs Ortiz) and Washington (beat). Unless he's waiting to see if Ruiz beats Ortiz.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑03 Jul 2022, 11:34 Shame most them middle guys have no fights scheduled.
Wilder should be out this year at least.
Parker fought 3 times last year. Should have at least fought in June/July.. then get out again later this year.
I don’t think we’ll see Whyte this year.
Ruiz vs. Ortiz is set so that’s good.
As for Joyce’s win.
No change.
Parker will need something scheduled soon but I don't have high hopes for the opponent.

To throw few punches, to fail in hurting opponent, to get frustrated, clueless and to go backwards - all these things don't define a will to try hard.gregregegg wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 04:04 Saying hammer wasnt motivated and took a way out crazy talk.

Sanchez wants to fight Wilder. But that would likely be too risky, since Wilder is similar to Ajagba who Sanchez easily outboxed.joshj909 wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 04:53Wilder will surely face Helenius, Martin or Kownacki. Wilder will likely fight one of the three you mentioned: Martin, Helenius or Kownacki.

Wilder would bash Sanchez. Frankly I don't think DW fights again.Perkin Warbeck wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 12:24Sanchez wants to fight Wilder. How does anyone demote Joyce? Demote him under fighters that didn't have a fight?

1. they thought he was too high before hand
2. they completely overblow the significance of chris hammer landing some shots before joyce bounced his arse off the canvas and stopped him in 4

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Hammer
I think most are happy for him to stay where he is.
His recent fights have shown gaping flaws in his defence that will definitely have an impact if he steps the opposition up a level.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Hammer
what's that level where he falls short?
i dont think he's cut out to be one of the elite, but after that i think he's in with a shout vs anyone. would've love to see the joe vs joe fight

Half votes for 7., might lean towards it.. majority saying to stick him.
It’s not just being active. It’s quality of opponents right?
Wallin’s on his last leg.
Then it will be all to play for when Ruiz and Ortiz fight.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Joyce vs. Hammer
Yes, I think quality of opponent is a factor. To be fair to Joe, he has done the job asked of him each and every time. But even at the level of Hammer, some worrying things are showing up.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑04 Jul 2022, 16:51Half votes for 7., might lean towards it.. majority saying to stick him.

Some say he was not bothered about Hammer's power - but if your building up to being a title contender you fight like your not taking unnecessary punches. You practice defence as well as offence.
Taking a punch to land a punch is a tatic that doesn't work in the HW division because there will always be that punch that will stop you.
I thought when Joe turned over to pro he had what it takes to be a top contender, I still think that, but as age creeps in (37 soon) and we see fights like this one, well...
