Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Make the damn fight, or admit you are afraid to face one another. We need to blame both if it's not made this year.
My two favorite boxers, acting like diva chickenshits. Sad. If you don't fight, get the he'll out of the way for guys like Boots.

It's beyond frustrating.
Both guys are approaching their mid 30s and each other is the biggest and best opponent they could potentially face, yet they still haven't got this one over the line yet.

Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
My only intent was to see if I could make a small difference. get the two to fight. Insults sometimes works.
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
They actually should be ashamed of themselves - I don’t mind them being criticised.

They want to cash in big time like FMJ vs Pac, something like that, but those big money are not there. They are not high profile fighters. Its a fight for boxing enthusiasts.

Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
I don't agree with much Eddie Hearn says but hes right about these two, they want $25mil a piece or something like that and whilst people who are really into boxing know it's the biggest and best fight out there, joe public doesn't and it just won't generate that kind of money unfortunately.

That's the thing, isn't it.Syntax Error wrote: ↑09 Jul 2022, 03:17 It's beyond frustrating.

Either guy could lose their edge overnight. We see it all the time in the SMW and below weight classes.
I thought Crawford last time out had lost a bit of timing, but ultimately got the job done.
We have seen so many guys fall off a cliff between fights with age related degregation. Especially in the lower weight classes, and especially with reflex fighters.
Not everyone is a Manny Pacquiao, and even he had to make adjustments as he aged, and he was never the beast he was in his prime.
If this fight doesn't happen this year, I feel we are going to be robbed of what it could have been.
And that's bad for boxing.

Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
i think it's already lost at least 10% of its potential greatness as a contest. at least. and if it doesn't happen within a year that number goes up considerably IMO
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Your probably right, and as we have seen over the years, form can drop off a cliff, the smaller guys get old overnight. 10% could be conservative.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 03:39i think it's already lost at least 10% of its potential greatness as a contest. at least. and if it doesn't happen within a year that number goes up considerably IMO

indeed, why they're both dead to me. I ain't letting myself get invested in a fight more than the fighters themselves (obviously) are.KiwiRider wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 05:38Your probably right, and as we have seen over the years, form can drop off a cliff, the smaller guys get old overnight. 10% could be conservative.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 03:39i think it's already lost at least 10% of its potential greatness as a contest. at least. and if it doesn't happen within a year that number goes up considerably IMO
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Yeah they need to stop faffing about and get on with it, they're also holding back all the potential Frank Spencer/Michael Crawford jokes/puns.

Hard case you

I think neither guy is all that smart, or as skilled and courageous as they want all to believe.Counter-puncher wrote: ↑12 Jul 2022, 06:13indeed, why they're both dead to me. Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza remains hopeful of the Spence Jr.-Crawford bout going ahead within the next six months or so.
He claims the hold up is the purse split demands of both fighters.
Espinoza said that Errol feels he deserves the lion’s share, because he’s generated a lot more PPV revenue and also holds three of the four main titles at 147lbs.
However, Crawford feels he deserves a massive payday, because of the sums he previously commanded at Top Rank, coupled with being classed amongst the top-three pound-for-pounders.
The media are also reporting the fact that Showtime are reluctant to pay the minimum purse guarantees both fighters are demanding, because they don’t want to lose money funding an event that mainstream casuals won’t buy.
Ultimately, the purse splits and the minimum purse guarantees are the main obstacles.
And I hate to say this, but as much as I’d love to see the Crawford-Spence Jr. bout, it’s a fight that only hardcore die-hards are clamouring for.
It simply won’t be a commercially massive PPV event. And both fighters need to realign their purse expectations or the bout definitely won’t happen.
Spence Jr. and Crawford shouldn’t expect to earn Canelo style purses to face each other if they can’t generate Canelo-sized gate receipts and PPV revenue.

If im correct, we already waiting 4 years for this ?
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Boxing needs to get rid of all these belts, ratings and maybe even weight classes. Nobody cares about the best fighter of some category fighting for the so-called 'undisputed' championship, except the so-called 'hardcore boxing fans', about whom nobody cares even less. Jake Paul should fight Canelo, that's what everyone wants. Mike Tyson vs Floyd Mayweather sounds good too.

Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Crawford had lost a great deal of my respect well before this year, and I've long since given up on him ever trying to prove how great everyone thinks he is.
At this point, I'd be happy to see Boots kick both of their asses.

Both are quacking. Gotta protect that 0 for some reason.
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
If it's money they are worrying about generating, PBC has a massive stable. Put Wilder vs Helenius on it, and get Boots vs Thurman as well.
If it goes into next year, I have my doubts it will happen...or fail if it does.

I remember Crawford beating Burns what, eight fvking years ago?
In the meantime boxing and its pathetic politics has become all but unwatchable. Fvck these guys for fvcking up their careers and fvck boxing for fvcking the fvck up.
Re: Spence & Crawford: Man Up!
Spence and Crawford are at a standstill about $ guess?. Squabbling about money?
I was wrong thinking both guys wanted to see who was best, There was a time when it was true. They don't deserve to be mentioned among those with courage.
Hang your head pussies.

'V' isn't a well used in English, but in this case it is justified.Bard of Boxrec wrote: ↑14 Jul 2022, 17:31 I remember Crawford beating Burns what, eight fvking years ago?In the meantime boxing and its pathetic politics has become all but unwatchable. It is one of the many things wrong with boxing.
Some say don't blame the players, but blame the game.
In this case I blame the players.
