Joseph Parker vs. Otto Wallin - Being Explored
Joseph Parker vs. Otto Wallin Explored By BOXXER'S Shalom
Former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker is still hunting for an opponent for the fall.
Parker recently signed a promotional agreement with BOXXER and Sky Sports.
The New Zealand boxer was in action back in December, when he battered Derek Chisora over twelve rounds for a clear unanimous decision win in their rematch.
There was then talk of a bout with Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce, but the negotiations fell apart when Parker signed his new promotional agreement. Joyce is promoted by allegedly, who has an exclusive content deal with rival network BT Sport.
BOXXER's head, Ben Shalom, would like to get Parker the biggest fight possible and is currently exploring a possible fight with top contender Otto Wallin.
"We are still hopeful of the Dillian Whyte rematch and Joe Joyce fight for him, but we have had an offer for him to fight Otto Wallin," Shalom told Mirror Fighting.
"It is another thing we are considering, he would also like the fights with Deontay Wilder and Andy Ruiz. He wants to fight anyone and everyone but the end of September or early October he will be fighting. We are still hopeful of making the fights we identified at the start and we think Joseph is going to perform very well on Sky. We think that one of these fights will be announced in the next couple of weeks."
Wallin was due to face Dillian Whyte last October, but the fight fell apart when Whyte withdrew with injury. He's been staying busy with two decision wins so far in 2022. Wallin's sole defeat came at the hands of current WBC world champion Tyson Fury, by way of a tough twelve round decision, in September of 2019.

Not a bad fight but it’s a tough sell in the U.K. Would need some big ticket sellers on the undercard.
It’s not an inexpensive main event to put together either.

Shalom is speaking to Whyte about returning to Sky.
Frank is interested in him too as is DAZN of course.
He's considering his options.

good fight for boxing fans. cant see how the income could cover the purses though.

The Sky/Parker angle only works against a Brit imo.
He’s been well beaten a couple of times now.

I did think the signing of Parker was a little odd especially when he isn't a ticket seller and not British. SKY looking a bit desperate to get some marquee names in. Even so, surely Hughie is the easy fight to make.maverick23 wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 05:43 Not a bad fight but it’s a tough sell in the U.K. Would need some big ticket sellers on the undercard.

The talk of fighting Whyte again appears more of a tool to get Whyte on SKY than anything else, and probably on PPV.

Bakole will be ok and so will Otto but only for regular Sky. I see no fights for Parker that are PPV quality at the moment.
Maybe Wilder. That’s it.

No-one would want to see Parker/Hughie 2. The first fight was so one sided with Shades putting on a masterclass and then getting robbed by the judges.Twinkle Toes wrote: ↑15 Jul 2022, 08:16I did think the signing of Parker was a little odd especially when he isn't a ticket seller and not British. The only fights that would even approach PPV worthiness involving Parker would be against Fury or Usyk... Possibly AJ.
Anything else is standard Saturday night fare.

Re: Joseph Parker vs. Otto Wallin - Being Explored
A quite even matchup. Yet, I guess, it won't be entertaining. Both prefer to box methodically, while Parker is always timid against the top guys and Wallin doesn't have the firepower to push Parker to the limit. Parker gotta edge in the snoozefest.

Re: Joseph Parker vs. Otto Wallin - Being Explored
If this fight happens I think Parker loses the first fight on his sky deal.
I don’t think he likes fighting opponents with a significant height advantage and above and he wont like fighting a southpaw.

Otto will cut him up with his scissors punches
Don’t get the hype regarding Otto tbh. Getting all his props for cutting then losing every round thereafter apart from the 12th against Fury and not really showing much after. Parker is supposed to be a top 5/6 heavy and he’s just coming off Chisora x2, Fa who took him 12 when Browne blew him away, Winters and Flores.
Hardly inspiring.
It’s time for another step up for him with the financial backing of Sky. He either goes after a Whyte or Wilder or takes a crossroads fight against an unbeaten fighter (obviously no Queensbury fighters).
Sanchez, Zhang, Hrgovic, Kabayel, McKean, ect.

Everyone always underestimating Joe Parker.
