Our talent pool in this country is very lean at the moment , we need to cling onto any glimmer of prospect doing well.dr_devious wrote: ↑16 Jul 2022, 18:05 Why is Sheeraz being touted as a future world champ? His best win before tonight is........................Bradley Skeete.
Always seems wrong for such a lanky beanpole ( upright looking ) fighter to go far but he's obviously got something that the people in the know have seen in him .
Not world class imo but what do I know .

There isn't a football commentator who doesn't piss off someone, me included.blanca wrote: ↑16 Jul 2022, 18:00He's better on the boxing, but on the football he's useless. If you can't even do the basics of pronouncing player's names right you have no right to be a commentator. Plus blaming footballers for being attacked by fans, just because you are a fan of the club whose fans attacked them, shows a lack of class, professionalism and basically makes him a cuuuuunt.
I can't comment on the Forest thing with regards to Fletcher, I didnt heae what he said. The fans shouldn't have been on the pitch, and the players should have made themselves scarce, coked up, entitled moron fans in football are more prevalent, in the current climate, over remunerated players are a target.

Anyone watching Foreman v Perelta on BT? A prime example of learning fight for a prospect.

well, FW is amazing at getting boxers to WBO number 1 without having to fight outside British level. Gary Lockett, Enzo Macc, Michael Jennings. Yarde so least theres a good chance he will get a shot.Cholo_cws wrote: ↑16 Jul 2022, 18:12It's utterly bizarre that they're mentioning world titles.dr_devious wrote: ↑16 Jul 2022, 18:05 Why is Sheeraz being touted as a future world champ? One of the better BT shows of the year.
Itauma needs a step up. It’s stupid he’s still fighting these guys in his 8th fight. He’s fought just one guy with a winning record.
Decent fight for Abdulah. His opponent came to win and he’ll learn loads from it.
I wasn’t that impressed with O’Leary until he ended things. He looks like he’s got real power.
The Ball fight went as expected. Nothing wrong with the matchmaking considering it’s come quickly after the Lowe win although I hope they get the Collins fight rescheduled.
The British title fight was a real good one. I thought Clarke would win comfortably but he looked really out of sorts and Heffron went for it. It was fairly one sided but I wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch considering how long Clarke was out for.
It’s amazing how a British title fight rarely disappoints yet promoters don’t often really push for them and the BBBC don’t seem to do enough to keep their belts active (the heavyweight title being inactive for c. 20 months now).
I’m not sold on McCann. He boxed fine but I think he’s pretty reckless and doesn’t have the power he probably thinks he does. Still a reasonable win at area level.
Sheeraz did what I expected. They hyped the Argentinian drawing against Benevidez Jr whilst in reality it was a guy who’d spent most of his career at light-welter not having the same desire, fighting 20 lbs above that and overlooking a tricky, naturally bigger opponent.
Frank was asked about matching Sheeraz against Bentley for the British. He said it’s a fight that’s bigger than the British. That’s crazy to me given who Sheeraz has beat. Only opponent of note has been Skeete and we know how that went. Frank said they wouldn’t look to make that next but maybe at the end of the year.
Perhaps if they made fights like Sheeraz/Bentley then they’d have more than what looked like 1,500 people there. People are struggling and when the bulk of your fights aren’t ones that people genuinely want to see, and you start tickets at around £60, then he’ll do well to sell more than a couple of thousand.

Frank is stepping up his game recently.
He controls the domestic scene.
He may not have many world class boxers, but he has so many prospects.
Just need to continue to match them well.

Quite an interesting discussion to be had about the current UK scene in terms of talent and how far people can go in the sport.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Jul 2022, 05:42 Frank is stepping up his game recently.
.....
He may not have many world class boxers, but he has so many prospects.
I'm not too sure we have all that much to look forward to personally but I'm happy to be corrected.....
So who's up and coming to keep an eye out for....
With Fury & AJ coming towards the end, who's gonna be picking up the mantle for British boxing for the next 5-10 years?
Joyce is older than those two and doesn't capture audiences like them. He won't be around for long.
Dubois also lacking in charisma, and still a lot of question marks over how far he can go....No other heavyweight prospects?
Since heavyweight always attract the most attention, followed by any Olympians....Okolie (didn't medal) and Cordina are our 2 most recent most successful Olympians and current world champions.
But are they really crowd pleasers or going to be featured in huge world title bouts where casual fans will be flooding to tune in? Okolie may get more interest if he moved up to heavyweight, but would be be a force there? Cordina is in a division with huge talent around those weight classes.
Sunny Edwards is in the smaller weights that only the hardcore care about
Conor Benn looks to be doing a cash grab with Eubank, but maybe he has the biggest potential/upside currently with his name, style and Matchroom behind him.
Felix Cash & Zach Parker might be on the fringe of world title shots but do you see them being able to compete at the top guys at middle and super middle?
Only real prospect in terms of age and experience I can think of currently with some hype around him is Adam Azim...
Maybe this could be a topic in itself but what have we got to look forward to in the upcomg years chap?

It’s not the most exciting but there are good names.
There are a lot of top level British and potential Euro level guys in the UK.
But how they are matched is very important in terms of how they will be when they step up at world level or even fighting fringe world level guys.
Not guys that are completely passed it.

It’s interesting the split here by TV network/promoter. Frank only has 2 in the top 25 (I’m not including Fury as he’s retired). He does well to get his fighters high up the official rankings but if you actually look at who they’ve beaten to get there (which I guess BoxRec do) then it leaves a lot to be desired (Anthony Yarde as an example).Fightnight Scores wrote: ↑17 Jul 2022, 06:31Quite an interesting discussion to be had about the current UK scene in terms of talent and how far people can go in the sport.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑17 Jul 2022, 05:42 Frank is stepping up his game recently.

The scary part about that p4p list is how few * there are near the top.... AJ is the only fighter in the top 19 that has a fight booked... theres 3 people in the top 37 with a fight booked... Considering people are having 10 week camps these days, half the list should have an * next to there name.

Re: Round-by-Round: Hamzah Sheeraz vs. Emmanuel Torres - 16 July 2022
I really enjoyed the card last night. Seems like Warren is stepping it up now as thats 3 good cards in a row for me.
With Nick Ball he may have stumbled across a kid who could develop into a real attraction if they play there cards right. I hope they consider doing a Liverpool show and have Ball v Collins or maybe Jazza Dickens headline. They could put Andrew Cain, Brad Strand & maybe see if you can do a deal with Probelum to get Peter McGrail on. That could be a real nice card.
Pierce O’Leary seems to have tremendous power - let’s see him again soon.
McCain looked much better at the slightly heavier weight. He seemed stronger and his punches were less sloppy than normal. Look way to go, but he passed a good test.
Heffron - Clarke was a cracking war. Happy for Heffron who’s a good lad, and he also looked a different animal at the bigger weight. Clarke was out for so long with injuries, it was a hell of a fight to come straight back in. I actually wouldn’t mind seeing a rematch - there was also some needle at the end, which they can build on for promotional materials.
Sheeraz is made for TV. Very exciting fighter, who doesn’t really use his physical attributes to make things easier for him. He just likes to get stuck in with those quick hands, and he packs a real punch. I think him blowing away Jezz Smith so easily went under the radar- he has genuine power.
Good nights action.

I didn't.....I think he kind of falls into the same bracket at Okolie though where he isn't going to break through and become a big star like Joshua has become. He's also stuck in a division where the top 2 are way above all those below them in my opinion. He's also moving slow like the other 2016 olympians compared to those that came before from 2000 to 2012.
Would like to see Buatsi face Callum Smith actually....but that is a domestic bragging rights fight rather than world title contention bouts that we'd have expected Buatsi to be in by now given his early hype and promotion.
