I'd wager how Norwood did: make him lead. When forced to come forward against Salido, Marquez looked unexceptional. There were even one or two minutes in the Medina fight where JMM had to go forward, and all of a sudden looked a tiny bit plodding.Wonder how John handled Marquez though?
(However -- and I know comparisons are odious, but so am I -- compare relative performances betwixt JMM and Harrison vs Medina).
To be honest, I can't really see Scott Harrison suddenly developing a yen for counter-punching and backing off, which is the way to trap Marquez, because you almost lull him into a false sense of ultra-cautiousness.
Frankly, anyone who can sit Polo on his arse with one solid counter, could take everything Pacman could throw at him (and get off the floor to do it) AND throw a counter right to the body, right uppercut to the head combo off the back foot, is going to slice Harrison into tiny ickle pieces.

Yep, cannot see Harrison suddently turning into a cagey counter puncher fighting off the back foot and trying to pick Marquez off. Scott's only chance to win would be to try and make the fight really ugly from the off, and break a few rules in the hope of rattling Marquez. He may have to risk a DQ to do so.

I had John winning 115-113 (I think) with the points deducted, close fight but I don't think it was a home decision.hitman_hatton1 wrote:running round the ring getting picked off most of the night.Max Molyneux wrote:Wonder how John handled Marquez though?i think marquez was robbed badly in that fight.
117-111 seems dodgy though.

IMO, it's highly unlikely Harrison will be facing JMM in his first comeback fight, even though Marquez is now Scott's mandatory.
Then again, the WBO stood by Harrison when they simply could have walked away from him, stripped him of his title etc - they might not be willing to compromise on a Marquez fight?
If, Harrison-Marquez does happen, JMM will win, and win hands down. Scott is very strong, determined fighter, but he's not in the same class as Marquez for ability, skills, defense etc.
If Scott were to beat Marquez though, that would put him in a great position, IMO! He would have the BIG fights then. Not that I'm saying Marquez is not a big fight.

Check out Youtube for highlights of JMM's last fight, he looked great and a lot more aggressive. The Thai he fought was really good and would have beaten a lot of other guys that night.
This is one of those fights I couldn't see Harrison winning in a million years. He doesn't have the punch, the speed, the skills or anything he needs to beat JMM. Marquez has the worst style imaginable for Harrison.
On another note. I look at the way the Marquez brothers fight. They've been taught amazing combo's and skills by Nacho Bernstein. If Amir Khan would hook up with that guy he would learn so much. I think he's Spanish though. JMM punches are so tight and his combos so unique, he looks a million dollars sometimes. He dropped the Thai with an amazing uppercut, he landed a number of them.

Would be great for Scott to move up to Super Feather to fight Pac though, that would be boss!

as i said, i thought marquez won that fight and john was put on the defensive by marquez's quality punch picking.
judging is a debateable thing though and lvlarc obviously prefers negative little runners.
I was just talking to Scott tonight, he was training away in my gym weights, running etc. Keeping himself to himself and he was friendly to anyone who did talk to him.
I wished him the best of luck in his training but did not want to start asking him any questions about his career as its not the time nor the place.
I was in the weights area and turned around and 5 feet away there was Scott, I thought I was seeing things at first

Hi Stu,stujones wrote:How was he looking, Hawk?
He was looking well, training away non stop between weights and the cardio. He did a good long run, full track suit on, plenty of sit ups etc. Seemed to be in a training zone in his mind, but when I spoke to him he was pleasent and seemed in good spirits smiling etc.
I would say most of the people had no idea who he was, couple of other guys spoke to him, but apart from that he was left in peace which is what he needs and is why he's over here.
Must say, it was good to see him training away in the same gym.

Well, that's excellent news! That's a very good sign that he's already in the gym. One thing about Scott, I don't think anyone can say he's ever skimped in training. The Hawk wrote:Hi Stu,stujones wrote:How was he looking, Hawk?

Whilst I am a big fan of Marquez, part of me will be rooting for Scott if they fight, gotta support anyone who seems to be trying to overcome their personal demons, which Scott seems to be.
8 rounds to 4, that's 116-112 2 points docked that's 114-112, so a close fight. I don't think most people had it 8-4 John, I remember reading fightnews, 3 of there reporters had it to John, and scottmalon on here had it to John also. Oh and Maxboxing also had Forrest beating Quartey, so I don't know how creditable they are.viciousmaussa wrote:Marquez schooled John. I had him winning. 8 rounds to 4 is how most ppl have it. Maxboxing's Steve Kim & Doug Fischer had it similar, so did Ringtalk's Cliff Rold.
No fvckig way did John win that fight. Even with the two deductions. it was about as close as the Polo fight.
In that fight tho' we saw Juan getting countered quite alot, and the deductions were abit harsh anyway. I only seen it once so I'l watch it again this week. He shouldn't of even been there in the first place, 30k!!

Harrison could have a tune up before that.Blue wrote: Rumors in Mexico say Marquez vs Harrison is on Nov 4th
Either in Los Angeles Staples Center where each fight will split
the purse 50-50 or in Glasgow where Marquez will get 60-40
Maybe Marquez should come to Glasgow for more money then as he doesn't seem to ever get well paid.
Well he turned down a good offer for a Pacman rematch didn't he? (I'm sure there was a story on that a while back)Max Molyneux wrote:Harrison could have a tune up before that.Blue wrote: Rumors in Mexico say Marquez vs Harrison is on Nov 4th
