Sparring without your trainer

I saw an interesting argument on Twitter between Billy Nelson and Sam Jones about the former not being with Bakole while he spars Usyk.

Billy says Usyk's conditions were that he wasn't allowed to go and he respects that, whilst Jones believes that the boxer should have his trainer with him for such a major sparring camp and not accept those rules.

What are people's thoughts on this?

No right and no wrong here , Now if there ameteurs going to another gym for experience i would never allow it unless I was there to supervise it happens a lot where i've seen gym pride come into it , and sparring gets heavy with the visitor doing more rnds than he should with bigger and better guys than he should ,, .

But on the other hand Bukale is a pro , he's got a living to earn , he would, i hope be getting decent money and gaining invaluable experience , you cannot begrudge him that ,not too mention hopefully cementing future work and good contacts , They obviously want it behind closed doors don't want spys and all that .

But heh like i said both correct , no right or wrong here . In Billys position i would allow it ,, If Billy sent an ameteur to another gym , i'd say i would'nt allow that .

Paid sparring, you are getting paid for the A side fighter to do what he wants. If your trainer is with you and is telling the A Side fighter to ease up they aren't getting their money worth.
If you are helping each other out and there is no money involved you should have your trainer there to control stuff as all fighters are too proud to quit or complain.
You shouldn't be sending your fighter out for paid sparring unless you know he can look after himself.

You shouldn't be sending your fighter out for paid sparring unless you know he can look after himself.

I've known trainers tell their fighters to go hard and not be afraid of upsetting the star, with the aim of being invited back as good value.

Since travel and accommodation is often included, I can't see many covering trainers to tag along.

The only reason i can see not to invite billy nelson there is they might think he will run his mouth. Bakolie could run back to AJ and tell him stuff, but it will be harder for him to relay info seeing as his heads being smacked... Billy as a trainer spectating could probably report more detail.

Doubt very much he would open his mouth its not good etiquette , plus he would'nt want to ruin the chance of his boxer not being invited back .. think it would be more a case of Usyks camp being a bit paranoid ,, who knows it may be a standing rule in that camp ,,

Maybe the boxer can pay out of his own pocket to take him? Billy was in Iceland anyway with Thor, definitely paid work.

Surely as a paid sparring partner you wouldn’t be expected to bring your trainer along? He’s being paid. Nelson can’t fly to Poland just to watch sparring anyway
