Worst British Champs of all time?

Maybe I'm getting soft in my old age but this whole thread feels a bit harsh to me - seeing a lot of decent, dedicated participants in the sport we claim to love getting run down and disrespected. Winning a British title is a great achievement and while some of them may have over-achieved relative to their talent, it's surely hard to think anything other than 'good on you' given the sacrifices they will have made.

I agree, the tone of this thread is very disappointing and disrespectful, these forums used to be better with more insight and knowledge.

There are some minor trolls on forum nowadays, I tend to just dip in and end up rolling my eyes at a lot of the disrespectful posts and threads

Andy Bell sprung to my mind. Beat Chris Edwards and lost to Lee Haskins in what was one of the sh1ttiest title fights ever seen.

I do agree with Deserter, threads like this can seem like a put down to some fighters. I think the British title has been devalued. Too many belts out there nowadays.

if you take a group of people who are good at something, you'll still be able to order them by achievement/ability etc. someone 10th out of 5 billion is amazing at whatever it is, but will be the worst in a group where the other members are the #1, 3, and 5. the all star team for any elite pro sport league will still have a worst player, etc

worst in no way = not good at what they do, failure, etc. and im sure all you who dont like this thread have at some point implied that one fighter is worse than another, through predictions, reaction to an outcome, saying someone doesnt belong at a particular level, etc.

there's nothing wrong with this thread topic in itself, grown men should be able to have discussions on the subject.. for sure some people can be overly disparaging, but they'll do that in any thread, not just this one

When you say best, do you mean British Champs who never won anything else, or best British fighters who also won a British title like JC and Hatton and not Hamed?

Just checked, Rhodes was 90 days, I actually thought it was less, 3 wins in those days

But he only had 19 days in between the 2 defences

Meanwhile Ritson took like 8 months(4 wins)

He did, was a great story. Journeyman to British champ. Very tough man. Shame he died so young.
