It’s a dangerous fight for Benn, but it seems a very dangerous fight for Jr, he’s a big fave yes, but what they’re asking him to do seems borderline sadistic: losing that weight and same day weigh in, i surprised the board are letting them get away with that. He could be so dehydrated he’s fucked - that’s how you get badly hurt ..his trainer Roy knows all about how losing weight can finish your punch resistance doesn’t he …

Just shows what a cut throat buisness this is , and what scumbags , hang around the sport , because this is a dangerous fight ,, For whom i'm not so sure ,, but normally theres NO WAY would you put a guy in at 147 with a supermiddleweight , especielly when said guy has not fought anyone really who is young enough and/or good enough to be a match for him but the bigger guy has mied it at top level with other big guys and done ok

Then again , you would never expect a supermiddle to boil down to a weight he last saw at 18 years old , with a same day weigh in no chance for rehdration , and a big chance he could be going in with the last few weeks of starving himself and losing muscle mass not fat ,

both scenarios dangerous ,, and why so Eddie can keep his ppv fighter from getting beat unless he has an excuse , he was just too big

The £100k for every pound doesn't mean much of a penalty for coming in those 3lb heavy.
I imagine losing a further lb from what he recently fought Liam Williams at won't be too difficult .. so coming in 1-2lb over means Jr loses chump change and is still strong at the weight.

Plus he goes onto a further celebrity fight .. maybe Jake Paul afterwards? Or Tommy Fury??

It’s being reported that Chris cannot be over 162lbs at 11am on fight day.
If that’s true the BBBC should be looking into this. If anything happens to Eubank it’s on them.
Hearn also said it’s more than 100k per pound so I’d imagine Chris will make 157lbs.

Thats a heavy restriction and im completly against it. They changed to day befor weigh ins for fighter safty, this is effectivly a same day weigh in.

Interestingly Can connor be over 162 at 11am.... because he would be close to that as well.

A 5lbs rehydration clause is dangerous. It shouldn’t be allowed.

Conor was apparently 170lbs v van Heerden so at 11am on fight day I’d imagine he will be a super middle.

Fight stinks… it’s a 50/50 because Hearn is dragging Chris to dangerous levels. If something happens to a dehydrated Eubank will be a nightmare for the sport.

I like the fight. and dont hate the 157, I just think alll rehydration clauses should be banned (i also think catch weight should be banned for belts but due to no belts i dont car here.)

Id be supprised if BBBoC would be ok with this. If eubank were to get hurt it would be very hard for them to say "this is a freak accedent and therss nothing we could do about it"...

No issue with 157…. Big issue with 162 on fight day.

I agree with you regarding hydration clauses and catch weights for belts.

5 pounds is not good.

They should just do an IBF style 10 pound limit for both of them.

Should be same rules for both.

Ecatly , Benn should not be allowed to come in heavier than Eubank , same for both ,, In fact i hope this fight falls through , and Benn has to fight someone decent WITHOUT THE BULLSHIT

Desperation

That's what should be on the poster.

Up till now, Benn has had every card stacked in his favour. The moment they couldn't hide anymore from a decent challenge at his weight they've come up with this fight. Which low and behold has it all stacked in Benn's favour again.

chwistopher doesnt strike me as someone who would sign on to a mission impossible type task. maybe there's something he knows that gives his side confidence regarding the weight

Yeah, mebbe. Think he might well surprise us like Brook when he made 149lb - looked fab and not drained at all.
Just do not like hydration clauses. Period.

Once you've weighed in at the stipulated weight that should be it, the weigh in the day before was brought in for safety reasons and it's surprising that the BoC are allowing all these clauses. A welterweight fighting a middleweight plus has so many safety factors involved that their silence is concerning

I suspect Eubank does as well. He's not taking a fight like this to take big risks.

Benn has been hurt at welter and normally gets matched against non punchers.
All depends on the weight loss and how it effects ,, Think weve all seen lots and lots of guys , who just seem to lose power and strenght when they go below a certain weight ,, is Eubank going to come in completly and utterly drained , losing muscle he can't get back with hydration , or is he losing fat , ,, what % body fat does he normally have ,, You would of thought they would of used a scientific aproach and looked at his body fat now , when he usually enters the ring and determinned if he's going to cut into muscle and be depleted totaly ,, or are they just looking at the DOLLARS
Both are taking the risk because of the pound note, and of course it is all about how Eubank copes with the weight.
Personally I don't think Eubank would have taken the fight if wasn't confident of doing the weight, let's see!
Or is Benn much better than we think!
Looking at opponents, both have been matched carefully but Eubank has campaigned at a much higher level, I think Liam Williams would win well against Benn.

I agree. I don't think rehydration clauses should be allowed at all. Personally think that weight cutting via dehydration to the extreme should be banned (like ONE FC does it - https://www.mmamania.com/platform/amp/2 ... ing-in-mma) but unless they have a blanket rule, they shouldn't enforce it for specific fights at all. It could easily come back to haunt them one day.

I don't like weight restrictions that impact one fighter more than the other. Eubank Jr said in interview he knows he won't be at 100% and hasn't been at this weight since he was 18. If Benn loses it shouldn't be a massive dent to his career because he's younger, he can always argue he was the much smaller man and less experienced but it will be harder for Eubank to comeback from. It will all hinge on how Eubank deals with the weight, he said he's never used a dietician or chef before and will try and manage his weight himself again but might resort to help later.

He probably thought.... I get 1-10 million (i have no idea what purses are so iv left that wide...) and if i make weight well i should win. IF i make weight kinda bad its close. And if the weight cut fucks me i can always pull out and winge about how fuked the contract is.

Thats what id do. Sign for it, get it locked, try even if its ambitous, and if it works out it works out. if it dosent you wasted 3 months... gambling 3 months for more money than most make in a lifetime is fair for me

Could be, could be

Looking at his career, for all his brashness he's obviously very conscious of limiting the risk he takes in fights. He basically hovers around cherrypicking. I think either he's had some experience in training that leads him to believe he can do the weight okay, perhaps willing to endure a financial penalty for some extra weight, or maybe he indeed would do a pullout.

I just dont see him getting into a situation where he's dead at the weight and everythings in benn's favour when they go into the ring. it's the opposite of who he is

Way to stack the cards for Benn.
Talk about lack of confidence. If you can't fight the guy without draining him to a skeleton, then stop mouthing off and jog on... :shame:

I’ll be rooting for Eubank Jr in this one, purely on personality alone. He’s always struck me as a decent and sensible guy, just looked a bit silly early in his career when he was imitating Snr and posing around.

Conor seems like a total dick.

I cant see him going in dead at the weight anymore really too think he pulls out befor that.., because he is as you said, risk averse kind of.

Bet: Eubank to come in 158, pay a lil fine. then fight day to demand the same day weigh in be scrapped or changed otherwise the fights off due to fighter safty isues.... hold dazn and matchroom and Benn hostage and eventualy get it relaxed a bit.
