The more I watch the Cunningham fight, the more I think Usyk dominates Fury. Also, you don't improve when you have been getting bad habits fighting plodders. Referee will also need to be fair and keep Fury from fouling. He fouled Cunningham so much, and the BS KO could've easily disqualified Fury.

I rewatched the McDermott fight a few times too and have concluded Fury will never be top ten at the world level. Kid just doesn’t have it.

when has fury done a dominating job on a quick, mobile opponent with boxing skill? it was just a few fights ago he was cut to shreds by one, not a decade ago

I’m just having a bit of fun. The Cunningham fight has zero bearing on today and cuts happen in boxing.

Fury and Usyk will be a close fight, neither dominating the other. If the ref lets Fury make it dirty he would probably take a close decision. If he doesn’t, Usyk takes a close decision,

Its fair
When has usyk fought a 6 foot 9 southpaw whos as shfity as he is and will use his size?

Last time he was in a dogfight was against briedis, and fury is another level of fighter than briedis.

i lean fury, but i think style is a bigger factor than size, and i think usyk has the skills and approach to make it a close fight

As do I. I just think neither has fought anyone close to the other so making previous fight comparisons doesn’t make sense in this case,

he hasnt, but that's not the question. someone raised mcdermott but we've since seen fury easily beat several opponents with mcdermotts style but better at it. the same's not true of fury vs the type of opponent i mention so it's not really a good comparison

I agree, but they are fairly equal in skill so then size is the difference maker.

i think usyk's more skillful, fury's skill has been much less noticeable when he's fighting opponents like usyk who can box and move with quickness. i think fighting bigger slower, more limited guys has flattered him in that area. as i said, he'll always look a million bucks vs a guy like whyte who plods straight to him

Fury beats effing Wilder and all of a sudden he's "on another level" that's an insane take. Briedis fought so many styles and still was the only fighter to give Usyk severe problems. He was also a p4p fighter. Just being undefeated means nothing!

I think Usyk has a fairly decent skill advantage, but Fury is a dog with no quit, stamina, decent power, and he is very awkward.

and is fury making it a dogfight or stepping back and using his 'shifty' distance skills? he usually fights on way or the other, not mixing the styles

usyk will likely have to deal with one or the other, not both

No idea, but he’s pretty intelligent in the ring. The fact he can do either is another layer to the difficulty he adds. Usyk has more than enough skill to make up for it, but this fight isn’t a walk in the park for either man.

agree, usyk defo more skillful for me. with fury it's about the combo of size and ability. and size will be a factor, - it's what makes me lean to him, but i think it'll be close

he can do both, but i've never seen him mix the approaches in the same fight. he's either set on being the aggressor or set on doing the backfoot thing

Same, but as everyone has pointed out, he’s never face anyone like Usyk before. Maybe he’ll prepare and perform differently.

I felt that Joshua would score a KO.

And I was clearly wrong.

That said, I feel that Tyson Fury can beat Oleksandr Usyk. And I have never believed otherwise.
Hurrah EO! This is the first time I have seen you acknowledge a mistake. This is an important moment - a turning point for you on this forum.

With awareness comes change.

I want to see a better EO after this loss. I want you to take stock. Acknowledge that you don't the high level of boxing knowledge you thought you had. Listen to more knowledgeable posters. Learn. Come back wiser. It can be done (with effort).

Have a great weekend!

I thought Fury mixed it up in the Wallin fight. I remember him being back foot and then turning into a forward plodding mauler mid-way.

Anyhow...It's a great fight if it happens. Usyk will land on Fury's body. Both are high IQ fighters. I give the edge to Fury though...although Usyk can beat "fat" Fury.

Reasonable scorecards.

I don't understand Glenn Feldman's 115-113 for Joshua. I expected Gray to score it closer than it was, but Feldman's card was outlandish.
I score 10-10 rounds when close, and i had four of those.

If i give all 4 close rounds to Joshua it's 115-113 Joshua. If I give them all to Usyk it's 117-111 Usyk. Split them 2-2 and it's 115-113 Usyk.
so, if the decision had gone to aj, would you have been cool with that?
Me? No. But it would have been within "reasonable" bounds for judging.

More than one judge going for Joshua would have been unusual. But given the normal variation of judges it's not surprising at all that one judge went for AJ, and in a fight with many close rounds, it's expected

Insane to think "Fury is on another level" to Briedis. Maybe this version of Breidis (who has looked past it since the Grevor fight), but the one that met in the CW semi finals with Usyk was a damn monster.

I gave Joshua 3 rounds. You can maybe give him a 4th at most. Feldman is an utter FOOL

Ive expected first fight to be like this. That body shots from Joshua was very wise tactics. If Usyk would have more steam in round 10 and final rounds, he could stop Joshua IMO. Ive scored it 116-112 for Usyk.
