Amaizng how Joshua can lose and it still be a robbery.
Split decision lol.
Joshua did a bit better this time, but Usyk was still the clear winner.

Great fight. Thought it could go either way after the 10th. Thought AJ was definitely going to win after the 9th.
The big what ifs for AJ will be if he put more pressure on in the 9th and if the ref had not stepped in for those borderline low blows. I don't think they were but can see why you would step in. Not all refs would have done so though and AJ could have been on a verge of a stoppage.

I didn’t have the fight close at all. Although some rounds were close Usyk was still winning them. I didn’t give AJ more than 4 rounds and that was being generous. Il have to watch it again but I thought Usyk was just a level above

I dont think he was anything near a stoppage, so many of those shots were missing (as the replays unintentionally showed lol). usyk was stung but when it was obvious that aj was in aggression mode i think he consciously let aj blow his wad and prepared to take advantage next round, which he did by having a huge 10th and also winning the last 2

Re: Round-by-Round: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua II - 20 August 2022
i gave aj 3 rounds, you can have it closer but no way aj won that
the body shots were by far the best thing for aj in that fight, if i could change one thing for him i would've had him focus on those even more. i dont think he has the stamina to be much more active than he was though, nor do i think mentally he would committ to a do or die strategy of unloading it all early
you can see where aj had certain tools to trouble usyk, but he lacked the parts to his game that he needed in order to use those tools enough for a win

I had it 10-2 Usyk, same as the first. AJ looked better tbh but it still wasn't enough. The cards were fornicating shocking.

Joshua won 7 out of 24 rounds vs someone given a few months could make cruiser again.
Tried to box again; wrong tactics. Went to the body more and that’s good but has no significant engine.
Was even getting weird advice in the corner. Garcia telling him he’s 3 up was great when he was arguably 3 down.
For Joshua to ever beat Usyk he needs to jump on him in round 1 like he did in round 9 and hope he gets him out of there before he gasses. To win he has to know it’s win by early KO or lose by early KO,
I don’t think he has as much character as he thinks. Tremendous fighter; great power… but at the very top level of the game he will always fall short.

just having a closer look at the cards and I can not belive Usyk had to win that last round to win the fight. That is fornicating mental.
I feel like just because the right guy won this judging preformance will soon be forgotten. But seriously, how can people just do nothing about the guy that gave AJ the win. Ill have to rewatch it, but fornicating hell.

Would’ve been a draw if AJ wins that last.gregregegg wrote: ↑21 Aug 2022, 05:51 just having a closer look at the cards and I can not belive Usyk had to win that last round to win the fight. That is fornicating mental.

Feldman would’ve had it the same because he give AJ the last.
Steve Gray (terrible judge and ref imo) would’ve had it a draw.
The Ukrainian would’ve had it 115-113 Usyk.
Pray for the people who bet on an Usyk UD.
They read the Ukrainian judges card out last; imagine he gives it to AJ.
Zelenskiiy would have his head on a stick in Kiev.

Talksport radio covered the show live and did a decent job covering Callum Smith win and Hrgovic v Zang, but I conked out during the Usyk v Joshua bout
The Talksport crew felt Zang was hard done by and kicked up a bit of a fuss. Even though i haven't seen it yet for myself, Spencer seems to have made a bit of a fool of himself because on the one hand he said he could accept a draw, but Zang losing was something of a bad decision. If he could accept a draw that suggests a close fight and the scores for Hrgovic weren't massively wide.
Listened to a few of Bunce's BBC sport Pods and he scored it 7-5 to AJ.
Two things struck me from listening to Talksport and BBC were :
1) Gareth Davies was a disgrace in suggesting (before the fight) that AJ should foul his way to a win over Usyk. Absolutely disgusting
2) Bunce was clearly biased and took almost every opportunity to either inflate AJ or excuse anything negative from AJ.
Hardly surprising he scored it for AJ, irrespective of what actually went on. Also tried to diminish other scorecards that went for AJ by saying he was sitting on the ring apron !
Fair play to Barry Hearn who absolutely stumped Bunce when asked for his scorecard and replied....8-4 Usyk. And said if AJ had of got the decision he would felt guilty. I think that says a lot because I've never seen Hearn as the most honest of people !

Another great moment from the latest BBC Bunce pod....Bunce & Richie Woodhall speaking to David Diamante asked him who he thought won the fight and Diamante replied...."Come on, you thought this fight was close!?" "Usyk won the fight".
Re: Round-by-Round: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Anthony Joshua II - 20 August 2022
When the first verdict went to Joshua I thought there was going to be a robbery to set up a third fight , thankfully not . I had it 117-113 to Usyk and that maybe was generous to Joshua.
He hadn't learnt much from the first fight and after a couple of rounds it was obvious he would be outboxed again.
Not sure where he goes from here, does he want to fight again ? DAZN must be kicking themselves as that deal is worthless now.

I think the punch stats are actually a fair picture of the fight on this occasion. Rounds 2, 8 & 9 were probably Joshua rounds.

I liked how Joshua acted hard and squared to Usyk afterwards. As if he hasn't had 24 rounds to try and beat him up yet won a grand total of 4 ....

Looks like they are counting the shots Joshua landed on gloves or that were completely blocked to me here.

Didn't want to post until I'd seen again. How anyone can give AJ 3 rounds without being extra generous is beyond me. What a fantastic boxer Usyk is.
