wilder said he'd ddone 253 in 11 days
now at 13 days he's done 367? another 104 rounds in 2 days?
sounds like bullsheeyat, unless he's doing 1 minute rounds or something

that would be 52 rounds in a day, dude will be worn the hell out by fight time if its true and he keeps this up. he doesnt need anything special for helenius, throw 1-2s, be prepared to move a bit if helly's aggressive....should be enough for a routine ko

Fuzzy math? 367/14 = 26.21 three minute roundsmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 18:06 that would be 52 rounds in a day, dude will be worn the hell out by fight time if its true and he keeps this up. he doesnt need anything special for helenius, throw 1-2s, be prepared to move a bit if helly's aggressive....should be enough for a routine ko

he said he'd done 253 in 11 days, if he's now at 367 after 14 days (i had thought it was 13 initially) then he's up to averaging almost 40 rounds a day since day 11 --> 3 days/114 rounds. if that's true and those are 3 minute rounds then ya he better watch out for overtraining, the fight is still 2 months awayBandog wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 20:55Fuzzy math? 367/14 = 26.21 three minute roundsmargaret thatcher wrote: ↑25 Aug 2022, 18:06 that would be 52 rounds in a day, dude will be worn the hell out by fight time if its true and he keeps this up. he doesnt need anything special for helenius, throw 1-2s, be prepared to move a bit if helly's aggressive....should be enough for a routine ko

I wonder who Sanchez will be fighting on the Wilder-Helenius undercard?
Someone like Gerald Washington wouldn't do him any good, he's past those guys now.
Bakole, Demirezen or Wallin would make for better opponents.

He is tricky to match, doesn't bring much money to the table either.
I'm a fan of his, but even I see he is a high risk low reward guy unfortunately.

I thought Sanchez was a lil guy. 6”2.5 220ish.
Listed at 6”4, witha solid reach and 240…. Crazy times when there’s are the perseved little heavies.

Looked a bit short next to Efe in their fight, but was purposely making himself a small target.

He is way too green just yet.
Ortiz/Ruiz winner is an excellent idea.
I fear that the winner of that fight will wait for the title shot unfortunately... But it seems they way things work now.

Press Conference Quotes
DEONTAY WILDER
“We’ve put in over 400 rounds so far and training camp has been great. I’m trying to do something different with adding Don House to the team working in Las Vegas. We wanted to change up some things, go more rounds and see what happened.
“This training sounds like it could be a lot on your body, but when you’re in shape physically and mentally, nothing is impossible.
“I’ve had a great career and now I’m back again for my second reign. It’s amazing to reminisce about all the years and about how I got to where I am now. It’s been an honor. We had a gameplan and we executed that game plan.
“I’m looking forward to October 15 and sharing the ring with Robert. I highly respect Robert and his team. We’ve always had a connection, but unfortunately in this business, you have to go against each other sometimes. But make no mistake, just because we know each other, it doesn’t mean this fight won’t be interesting.
“Every time I fight, you’re on the edge of your seat, because I’m going in there 110%. I’m looking forward to this fight and coming back to Barclays Center, where some of my most exciting knockouts have occurred. I have remarkable memories there and I can’t wait to display my talent.
“I know what Helenius is capable of doing and I know what kind of heart he has. He’s coming to bring his best and I always bring mine. This is a serious fight between two warriors in the heavyweight division. We’re coming to put it all on the line.
“Getting a statue in my hometown let me know that there was more work to do. I have to continue to fight and motivate and inspire. This reign is going to be a special one, because it’s going to be dedicated to the people.
“Over these years everyone has seen what I’m capable of doing and what my mindset is when I step in there. Everyone knows what I’m coming with on the 15th and what we’re going to give. Whether it’s for our family, our country or our fans, there’s one night and one fight, it’s going to be fireworks.”
ROBERT HELENIUS
“I’m feeling really good and training camp is going great. I’ve fought a lot of good opponents and had a long career so far. This is of course a big fight for me. I have respect for Deontay, but when I come to America, I’m going to give everything that I have.
“I’m ready to do everything in my power to win. I only took two weeks off after my last fight and I’ve been training since then. I know what it takes to win at this level.
“I’ve promised my fans in Finland that I would bring the world title back home and sometimes you have to go through a lot to get there. But I’m going to do everything I can. We’re doing all the extra work that we need to.
“This is a huge deal. All I’ve ever wanted is to get the chance at the world heavyweight title. That’s why I’ve continued to fight. If I didn’t see myself becoming a world champion, I would have stopped and found a much easier job to do.
“I’m thankful to Deontay for his nice words, but on October 15 I’m going to bring the Viking spirit into the ring.”

Emmanuel Rodriguez-Gary Antonio Russell Rematch To Land On Wilder-Helenius Card
Emmanuel Rodriguez and Gary Antonio Russell will settle unfinished business more than a year after their very brief encounter.
Boxing Scene has learned that a Rodriguez-Russell rematch is set to take place on October 15 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The bout will serve on the undercard of the already announced heavyweight clash between former WBC champ Deontay Wilder (42-2-1, 41KOs) and Robert Helenius (31-3, 20KOs) atop a Fox Sports Pay-Per-View that includes a WBC super title eliminator between former titlists Caleb Plant and Anthony Dirrell.
As previously reported by BS.com though not yet publicly confirmed by Premier Boxing Champions (PBC), the show will also feature a vacant IBF junior welterweight title fight between Puerto Rico’s Subriel Matias (18-1, 18KOs) and Argentina’s Jeremias Ponce (30-0, 20KOs). Matias and Rodriguez are both locally promoted in Puerto Rico by Juan Orengo’s Fresh Productions.
Rodriguez and Russell previously met in a WBA title eliminator, downgraded from interim title status after the sanctioning body was beginning to phase out such belts. The stakes mattered little in the end, as their August 14 Showtime-televised encounter lasted just 16 seconds. A clash of heads busted and bloodied the bridge of Rodriguez’s nose, at which point referee Sharon Sands ruled Puerto Rico’s Rodriguez (20-2, 12KOs; 1ND) unfit to continue.
A rematch was hoped for by both boxers, who have since fought once each against separate opposition.
Russell (19-0, 12KOs; 1ND) barely edged Alexandro Santiago in a ten-round majority decision win in the opening bout of a Showtime tripleheader last November 27 in Las Vegas. The 29-year-old southpaw from Capitol Heights, Maryland—whose older brother Gary Jr. is a former WBC featherweight titlist and younger brother Gary Antuanne is a rising junior welterweight contender—hoped to parlay the win into a bantamweight title shot, but has instead sat out all of 2022 while awaiting word on his next assignment.
Rodriguez’s lone ring appearance since his 16-second fight with Russell didn’t last much longer.
The former IBF bantamweight titlist from Manati, Puerto Rico stopped Roberto Sanchez at 2:22 of the first round on March 25 in Cancun, his first win since October 2018. The three-fight winless skid for Rodriguez included a second-round knockout to Naoya Inoue—ending his IBF title reign in May 2019—followed by a highly questionable 12-round, split decision defeat to unbeaten Reymart Gaballo in their December 2020 interim WBC bantamweight title fight, along with the Russell debacle.

It's shaping up to be a reasonable card.
Well, we have seen much worse on the PPV front this year.

Yes. We are spoilt for choice when it comes to ppv, but unfortunately not for quality across the card.

I picked Wilder by KO/TKO but I am not very confident about my pick.
As the late great Angelo Dundee used to say, "This is a he go or you go kind of fight." I think most would agree that picking a stoppage is an easier pick than picking a winner here.

Ruthless-RKO OP
Those are crazy odds. I'm not saying I predicted Helenius to win that fight, and I haven't bet on boxing in a long time but if I saw those odds before the fight I would have put something down on Helenius. As I said, I didn't expect him to win but those odds were nuts.

Vito Mielnicki Jr.-Limberth Ponce Added To Undercard
Vito Mielnicki Jr. will try to extend his winning streak to five when he returns to the ring October 15 in Brooklyn.
Boxing Scene has learned that the 20-year-old junior middleweight will meet Limberth Ponce that night on the Deontay Wilder-Robert Helenius undercard at Barclays Center. FS1 likely will televise the 10-round bout between Mielnicki and Ponce before the FOX Sports Pay-Per-View portion of the Wilder-Helenius undercard begins.
Mielnicki (12-1, 8 KOs) has won four fights in a row since Philadelphia’s James Martin (then 6-2) upset him by majority decision in an eight-round fight FS1 aired in April 2021 from Shrine Auditorium & Expo Hall in Los Angeles. The Roseland, New Jersey native most recently stopped veteran Jimmy Williams (18-9-2, 6 KOs) in the sixth round of an eight-rounder on the Danny Garcia-Jose Benavidez Jr. undercard July 30 at Barclays Center.
Mielnicki wanted to avenge his loss to Martin in an immediate rematch that was supposed to take place 13 months ago at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Martin came in 4½ pounds over the contracted limit for what was supposed to be a welterweight fight, though, and Mielnicki instead stopped Noah Kidd (then 6-3-2) in the second round of a fight FOX televised in July 2021.
Another young fighter affiliated with Premier Boxing Champions, Joey Spencer, beat Martin by unanimous decision in an eight-round junior middleweight match the night Martin was supposed to meet Mielnicki again.
Ponce (19-5, 11 KOs), of Rock Island, Illinois, was knocked out in the fifth round by Spencer (16-0, 10 KOs) last December 25 at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. The 31-year-old Mexican veteran bounced back from his loss to Spencer by defeating Ramiro Hernandez (3-2, 1 KO) unanimously in his most recent action, a six-rounder May 6 in Davenport, Iowa.
Wilder, meanwhile, will fight for the first time in more than a year by the time he faces Finland’s Helenius. The former WBC heavyweight champion from Tuscaloosa, Alabama hasn’t boxed since England’s Tyson Fury viciously knocked him out in the 11th round of their third title fight last October 9 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Helenius (31-3, 20 KOs) hasn’t fought since last October 9, either. He stopped Brooklyn’s Adam Kownacki (20-3, 15 KOs) in the sixth round of their rematch on the undercard when Wilder (42-2-1, 41 KOs) fought Fury (32-0-1, 23 KOs) a third time.
