"We had very good sparring sessions back then. Those were exciting spars to watch," Golovkin explained.

“We had a normal relationship. But he then felt too much of himself. He’s now a big star so the consequences of that was probably a side effect of him shooting to fame.

“I don’t feel any hatred towards him. To me, he’s just an athlete, just another human being. Just a boxer. I guess that’s how he as a human being decided to behave and decided to think of himself, love himself and position himself.”
GGG is right and he's a smart guy speaking politically correct about Canelo.

Btw those sparring sessions would be like a treasure for boxing fans. :box:

Not sure if GGG hinting he'll soon be done will hurt or help sell the fight. I doubt if it does big numbers.

In a boxing rubber match for the ages, Saul Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy "GGG" Golovkin, two of the Sweet Science's all-time pound-for-pound greats, will confront each other a for a third time on Saturday, September 17 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. And thanks to a partnership between DAZN and Fathom Events, fight fans nationwide will be able to experience all the DAZN PPV action and drama LIVE -- on the big screen in more than 700 movie theaters.

The live DAZN broadcast begins at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET with a jam-packed undercard, with the main card ring walk expected sometime after 8 p.m. PT /11 p.m. ET. Tickets are on sale now at FathomEvents.com.

The four-weight-division world champion - but now seemingly fallible - Canelo enters the rematch on the heels of his close loss in May via unanimous decision to defending WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. A complete list of theater locations and showtimes is available on the Fathom Events website (theater participants are subject to change).

Golovkin knows that his upcoming third bout against Canelo is the last throw of the dice for him.

One final marquee super-fight that’ll grant him the opportunity to earn one final huge payday, before he hangs up his gloves and rides off into the sunset.

The thing is, when the going gets tough and he is being forced to dig deep against Canelo, will he have sufficient determination, drive and ambition to be willing to go out on his shield in an to attempt to overcome adversity, or will he wilt under pressure and concede defeat, because it’s clear in his own mind he’s already got one foot out of the door?

I suspect it’ll be the latter, resulting in a decisive stoppage loss for Golovkin.

Whatever the outcome, I can’t see GGG fighting again after this fight unless he decides to engage in a safe farewell bout in his homeland of Kazakhstan against a journeyman.

Smart buisnes up until he has the smart knocked out of him.
40 is too old to be facing a machine like Canelo.
I bet Adonis Stevenson would give up his last half dozen paydays so he could have stopped fighting into his 40's

G has a strong proven chin and I don't think he is reckless about his health, age and how to prepare for his last hurrah. Also G is a gym rat , keeping himself in a good shape. :box:

G's defense is his piston powerful jabs and his left hooks. Canelo would have hard time too. :box:

DAZN announces “The Making Of” series with Canelo Alvarez ahead of third Golovkin fight

Canelo Alvarez will feature on DAZN’s “The Making Of” in September.

DAZN’s “The Making Of” series will feature Canelo Alvarez in a three-episode run starting in early September, just ahead of his third fight with Gennadiy Golovkin on DAZN pay-per-view on Saturday, Sept. 17.

Here’s the trailer for the show:

A few quotes from the series:

On his loss to Floyd Mayweather in 2013:
“Simply, it was down to experience. If I compare that Canelo with Canelo today, they are completely different. It’d be a completely different fight now. I’ve always said that perhaps if I’d won that night, everything would have come my way. Fame, money and perhaps it wouldn’t have worked out well then. I could’ve perhaps gone crazy. It wasn’t my moment. That’s how I take it, it wasn’t my moment. It took me a few days for me to accept it.”

On his rematch with over Gennadiy Golovkin in 2018:
“I’m not a person who cries a lot but there are times you can’t take it all in. The truth is that those feelings are unique. Having my family there, my wife, my children, my mom, my dad, my siblings, my friends, all my team. For me, it’s very important; it means a lot. Why? Because, in the end, family is the most important thing for us.”

On his 175 lb title win over Sergey Kovalev in 2019:
“Being a world champion in another division, imagine! Such a small boxer like me, a Mexican, winning a world championship as light heavyweight when nobody thought I’d win a world championship in the 154 division because I was very small. Imagine what that means to me.”

GGG would have to punch as hard as he can Canelo's nuts in the first round and make it look like an accidental low blow. :box: That would make Canelo's thinking twice. :OhYes:

A rivalry, which a lot wants to end similarly to the Pac-Marquez one, but it'll be sorta repetition of the Toney-McCallum affair.

One question no one seems to be answering is whether GGGs power will carry up to 168.

How does it actually work?

Is it mainly a question of increasing weight bringing increasing power versus increasing punch resistance as fighters move up?

Who has the better chance of sucessfully moving up, GGG from 160 to 168, or Conor Benn who's going up from 147 to 157 to face Chris Eubank?

Usyk has managed to move up successfully, but not by order of quick KOs.

It is possible that GGG will be stronger at 168, he may also not come in much heavier at all.

GGG’s persistent boasts since 2008 prevent Gennadiy from using size to excuse his potential loss in the third Canelo bout.

For sure, Golovkin’s age is a decent excuse, but it would be hideously moronic for GGG to suggest that “size” would be the main factor determining the outcome of this fight, because it undermines fourteen years’ of his media claims.

Its a fact that G is old, I mean 40 y/o is old in boxing no matter how you slice it or dice it but we know for a fact that G is a naturally strong fighter that he likes to stay in good shape and also stay clean.

Canelo is in his prime peak at 31 and also accustomed with 168 weight class and GGG is not. Thats a fact.

Didn't he fight north of 160 and looked fat and useless? I think it was the Rolls fight. I think GGG's weight ceiling is 160. He's not a big guy.

Canelo has every advantage, and if he loses, it'll be a major blow to his ego.

Absolutely a cash out for GGG.

Anything on top of a good 12 round workout will be a nice extra.
