“I’m going to retire soon anyway. With his help or without his help. Let’s face it, I’m 40 years old and nearing my retirement,” Golovkin told The Sun.

"We had very good sparring sessions back then. Those were exciting spars to watch," Golovkin explained.

“We had a normal relationship. But he then felt too much of himself. He’s now a big star so the consequences of that was probably a side effect of him shooting to fame.

“I don’t feel any hatred towards him. To me, he’s just an athlete, just another human being. Just a boxer. I guess that’s how he as a human being decided to behave and decided to think of himself, love himself and position himself.”

GGG is right and he's a smart guy speaking politically correct about Canelo.

Btw those sparring sessions would be like a treasure for boxing fans.

The four-weight-division world champion - but now seemingly fallible - Canelo enters the rematch on the heels of his close loss in May via unanimous decision to defending WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol. While the Canelo vs. GGG series stands at 1-0-1 in his favor, Canelo will be placing his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO and The Ring super-middleweight titles on the line when he once again faces an opponent against whom he previously earned a controversial draw and then a close majority decision.

Golovkin knows that his upcoming third bout against Canelo is the last throw of the dice for him.

One final marquee super-fight that’ll grant him the opportunity to earn one final huge payday, before he hangs up his gloves and rides off into the sunset.

The thing is, when the going gets tough and he is being forced to dig deep against Canelo, will he have sufficient determination, drive and ambition to be willing to go out on his shield in an to attempt to overcome adversity, or will he wilt under pressure and concede defeat, because it’s clear in his own mind he’s already got one foot out of the door?

I suspect it’ll be the latter, resulting in a decisive stoppage loss for Golovkin.

Whatever the outcome, I can’t see GGG fighting again after this fight unless he decides to engage in a safe farewell bout in his homeland of Kazakhstan against a journeyman.

G has a strong proven chin and I don't think he is reckless about his health, age and how to prepare for his last hurrah. Also G is a gym rat , keeping himself in a good shape.

G's defense is his piston powerful jabs and his left hooks. Canelo would have hard time too.

Canelo is in his prime peak at 31 and also accustomed with 168 weight class and GGG is not. Thats a fact.

Didn't he fight north of 160 and looked fat and useless? I think it was the Rolls fight. I think GGG's weight ceiling is 160. He's not a big guy.
