Getting rid of ALL boxing on TV / Stream.

Just wondering if anyone has actually cancelled ALL Pay TV / Stream for boxing - e.g. Sky, BT, BN and Dazn. For the first time ever I am seriously considering it (I don't have Dazn). AJ vs Usyk 2 was the first PPV I've intentionally not bought and I enjoyed the catch up free on youtube. WIth the current cost of living / inflation I have got to think about saving.

Just wondering how those who have done this coped really.

I done it years ago and it’s not made any real impact aside from saving me money and frustration. I’ve have also lost interest in the sport because of its myriad of corruptions and shite that goes on. I still manage to see the fights I want to see tho.

This talk about so many different promoters and networks currently in the UK being good for the fans is quite disingenuous imo.

What it actually means for the fans, is that the sport is more fragmented and if you want to watch live fights you have to pay for:

1. FiteTV;
2. Sky Sports;
3. Sky Sports Box Office;
4. DAZN;
5. DAZN PPV;
6. BT Sports; and
7. BT Sports Box Office.

The cost of watching boxing is significant and the value for money often isnt there.

In addition, many fights dont happen because of the number of different promoters and the politics involved whereby promoters try to keep fights in house. Parker v Joyce is a refreshing exception to that but guess what, you have to pay for BT Sports Box Office to watch what is nothing more than a decent fight on paper.

I probably get more excited these days with big UFC fights rather than boxing as the best fight the best consistently.

I’m currently without all sports subscriptions. Had DAZN until last month, cancelled due to lack of content and the arrival of PPV. I’ll just pick and choose when I want to temporarily re-sub to each individual platform, depending on the upcoming schedule. Certainly don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything at the moment.

I've been on freeview now for four years. I had sky sports since 1994. It felt quite liberating to know that I had 50 odd quid free for other things.

The only PPV I have ever purchased was Bruno v Tyson in 96. I never did it again out of principle.
Saying that though, I do spend money on boxing programmes which I collect.

With the internet now, I watch fights on free streams and keep up to date that way. Commentary may be in hungarian though...

Stu - one good way is to watch the great fights of the past. Loads of great stuff on Youtube - I watched Holyfield v Qawi on it a few months back. And reading into the past is also fun - you can get a full year of Boxing News mags on Ebay from the 80s, 70s or 60s for about £20 or £30 including the postage, which compares pretty well to PPV, Sky subscription costs and the like. Plus worth keeping an eye on CH5, BBC Wales, BBC Scotland and Freesports for bits of boxing.

Yes, I've cancelled all except Sky Sports which now have pathetic boxing content but I keep it for other sports.
DAZN was easiest for me, I had it for six months and only enjoyed two shows, also we don't get all the shows down under anyway.
And now they are doing what they promised they wouldn't - PPV

So I wait a few days, avoiding spoilers and watch the decent fights on the cards on youtube.
So many predetermined knockover and chick fights I now don't have to fast forward through
It really is a much better use of my leisure time, and is saving me a lot of money.

I did'nt have any don't ever buy the sky too much money at 50 dollars plus ,, but i did purchase Dazn it was so cheap could'nt resist then has kiwi said a lot of the fights we never got so i cancelled it ,, however last week i subscribed again , to get the AJ fight at 13 dollars a month , i'll leave it till after the Canelo and the Benn -Eubank then undubscribe again , i;m only leaving it because at 13 dollars its not a drain , can't even buy two pints for that

Was never a problem seeing next day Hagler/Leonard/Hearns/Chavez without the nonsense buildup and inane incessant commentary. Maybe next day next week youtube coverage is the way to go. Purses may have to be cut though.

Aye binned it all years ago. Couldn’t justify the outlay and I find the hype around fights nauseating these days. I’d rather wait till the fights done and then just catch it later than have to sit through that.

The realisation came to me when I was paying for Sky and realised I enjoyed watching a fight more, even if I already knew the result, in a language I didn’t understand - than listed to it live with Adam Smith and a collection of other salesmen babbling away in the background!

Get a Firestick and get it chipped. All the sports and PPV are on there. £80 for the year

Binned DAZN after PPV direction was announced but still have BT as under contract until next summer and then will take another look, but want Champions League. Not bothered about Premier League so no Sky Sports.

I'm a long time BN subscriber and also get boxing fix from their podcast, which is excellent for Steedman's chirpy analysis and questions and Christie's miserable/totally real boxing chat which I love! Really enjoy Bunce's BBC podcast too.

I listened to Joshua v Usyk 2 on the radio then watched the broadcast on youtube a couple of days ago. Last PPV I bought was Brook v Khan and unlikely to buy another one any time soon as dont think other fights worth it. Perhaps weirdly, I'd rather pay to watch Fury v Joshua than Fury v Usyk. Usyk is a bit of a fiddler - a good one, yes, but not particularly exciting to watch.

I cancelled allegedly, sky and bt sport a few years back.

Competition is meant to be better for consumers but unfortunately its the opposite when it comes to televised live sport. Then most of the best fights ended up in ppv on top of subscriptions so it became an easy choice.

I've got used to listening to fights on the radio live and/or watching the full fights on YouTube the next morning.

I don't have any. I listen to fights on the radio, or wait until they appear for free online in the days following. I go to amateur shows in person. If people hadn't bought PPV in the first place I think we'd have a lot more boxing to watch than we do now. People who buy PPV are killing boxing IMO.

Edit - Actually I have checked and I do not get Premier Sports - but I get BN. I do subscribe to BT Sport and Sky - is allegedly still "free" if you have BT?

Yep - it’s free if you subscribe to Bt sports. Will be worth checking your bank statement for any unknown monthly payments going out just in case!

Easy to do that or find a website stream. If my mate got PPV on, usually about 4-5 go round and I just give him a tenner. said he would for Benn Eubank Jr.

There's very little boxing around that's actually worth watching, never mind paying good siller for it. I prefer watching fights on Youtube, even when it's only high-lights. Playing out fights on Title Bout Championship Boxing, as old as it is, is still better than shelling out for streaming services and PPV.

I will probably ditch DAZN at the end of the month unless they pep up their schedule. Hardly touch it and PPV is a bit of a slap in the face. I have my subscription to BN, that I will definitely keep.
