joyce is more accurate than pparker despite being slower, speed alone wont do it for jp
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
Parker has a lot of success in the early rounds, hits Joyce with his best shots, but they have little effect. Parker then starts to lose heart, and Joyce stops him mid to late rounds.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
I'd put money on Parker, tbh. Seems like a terrible stylistic match-up for Joyce, imo. Parker always has close fights, though.

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
Its an interesting fight. What Parker did to Chisora seems to suggest that Parker is a new and improved fighter. Joyce on the other hand is a sort of heir apparent and it's very likely that any fight he would have gotten into these last two years vs AJ that he would have won all of them.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
I have no idea if Joyce will win but I'll guess he will. I like Joyce's everything behind the jab style. A consistent left jab is almost a lost art.
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
Joyce gives Parker his first stoppage loss. Won't go the distance IMO. Parker will have a lot of success in the early rounds, then he'll gas and start to lose heart. Joyce stops him late on IMO.

Press Release
Seven-weight world champion Amanda Serrano admits she was taken by surprise when she received the news that IBF champion Sarah Mahfoud was prepared to accept a unification fight that will take place in Manchester on September 24.
The Puerto Rican southpaw - based in Brooklyn - who holds the WBC, WBO and IBO world featherweight titles was set to oblige a WBO mandatory against Yamileth Mercado in August at Madison Square Garden.
The proposed show was ultimately cancelled, leaving the 33-year-old without a date, resulting in her management team hooking up with Queensberry to place 'The Real Deal' on the blockbuster Joe Joyce-Joseph Parker heavyweight card at the AO Arena.
Much to her delight, the undefeated Dane and IBF world champion Mahfoud chose to share the Manchester stage with her for a unification match.
"It is thanks to my team, the fight on August 6 fell off and I said 'I need a fight, I need a fight'," said Serrano, recounting events. "They got me on this card and I am super-honored to be on this card and honored to have the opportunity to unify in my division.
"They are both tough fights, Mercado and Mahfoud, one was my mandatory with the WBO and one is a champion. Of course, you always want to fight the champions and I have been looking for this fight for a couple of years now, for her and the WBA, the two belts I am missing to become undisputed.
"I couldn't believe that she took the fight, I was like 'yes!'. Everything happens for a reason, the timing was great and she decided she wants to fight now, so let's do it. It is in Manchester, my first time fighting over there and the UK fans are amazing and I just hope they come out and support the fight."
Serrano admits that she has not intently re-watched her last fight, the epic clash with Katie Taylor that took place in New York back in April and delivered the best possible statement on behalf of women's boxing.
"I kind of have, I have dibble-dabbled, but I always just see my mistakes, which is a good thing so you can fix it in the next fight.
"It was just a great night, a great event and I didn't want to ruin it because we put on a hell of a show, both of us. There was blood, sweat, tears in the ring that night and the fans came out and supported us.
"So I just wanted to leave it like that. I just wanted to remember it the way I remember it," she added, before pointing out that she does not consider the split decision reverse as a blot on her record.
"You know what, I feel like you never lose, you learn and I feel like I never lost that fight. I am coming back to my weight class and I am back to where I feel comfortable at, at 126lbs, where I am strong and where I am champion.

Parker wide UD (although may be close on cards).
Joyce’s best win is DD and he was losing it on points before Dubois’s injury.
Parker has been in the ring with much better opponents than Joyce’s and even in his 2 lost ones he didn’t exactly look bad.

every decent fighter runs parker close
and lol the 'until the injury' nonsense again
joyce started smashing dub's eye with the jab from round 1. dubs didnt get counted out because he took a single unlucky punch in round 10. if dubbers hadnt been ko'd and made it out of the round, joyce would've been ahead on the cards going into the last 2 anyway
joyce gradually wore dubs down and gave him a 10 count, dubs didnt catch some fluke injury as if he threw his ankle out

Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
Joyce's chin is inhuman, but Parker has very good movement if he's in shape. Joyce was losing handily and getting the crap beat out of him by Takam until Takam blew his load pretty much trying to crack Joyce's chin.
I don't think Parker will fall for that. I think he'll play it extremely cautious and fight off the back foot. Only issue is he tends to make fights close where he should handily win. Parker also has underrated power.
I really think this is a great fight for Parker and he's getting extremely underrated if a scrub like Joyce is being favored. I'll eat crow if Parker gets stopped or loses wide.

I’ve always liked Parker. And I’ve never enjoyed watching Joyce. I’ve gone for Joyce to take, what would be a very debatable decision. Only thing that goes against Parker is his lack of heart. If he can stick to a gameplan he will be able to move around Slow Joe with relative ease.

Heavyweight boxing's 2 gentlemen, and what's even better, a near 50/50 fight!
Absolutely looking forward to this.
If Joyce keeps that jab going, this will be a hard night for Parker.

No kidding, people need to watch that fight. Joyce wore Dubois down and made him quit, it wasn't a situation where he wished he could continue but for the injury. If anything, he was frustrated by Joyce the whole fight and the eye gave him an excuse to quit because he was being soundly beaten.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022, 03:17 every decent fighter runs parker close

The cards were close because all Joyce did was jab jab jab, nothing flashy, Dubois was the one trying harder and pushing forward even if he was rarely succeeding, so he got the rounds. But the tide had completely turned and he knew it.

Well of course Parker is faster, but The Juggenaut has been slower than everyone he ever fought and it hasn't stopped him being robbed of an OGM and getting to No.1 contender status has it ?
Re: Joe Joyce vs. Joseph Parker | ESPN - September 24, 2022
Joyce looks a little robotic and he's old but I think I'll take him over Parker. Also, the new BoxRec re-design is dogshit.

Joyce is slow but there's something of the Joe Louis about him the way he stalks and stalks and eventually gets his man.
He's also got a fabulous jab.
I think Parker is in over his head here.

This fight. I just don't know. I guess its about what Parker isn't. We know who Joyce is. Based on intangibles and who wants it more, I changed my mind. I'll side with Joyce now on points. Parker yields too often.

37!
He has moved way too slowly.
Heehee, slow Joe.
Looking forward to the fight, maybe his birthday wish will be granted but 37 candles is a lot to blow out in one breath..
