Ruiz should have KOed Ortiz, but he simply couldn't do it, because he was slow on his feet and opened wide for counters. Ortiz is clearly better schooled than Andy, but he's too old and his chin has gone. I scored the fight even without the knockdowns.

It reminded me of Hrgovic-Zhang, where the better, but older fighter lost because of his age.

I had Ortiz winning that 113-112, apart from a few knockdowns it was dire, a fat bloke against an old bloke, we all know Ruiz has quick hands and the first KD he scored in the 2nd was top drawer, rapid right hand , the second KD was a bit more scrappy albeit the same shot, after that Ruiz done precious little, barely threw a punch until the third knockdown in the 7th again it was the right hand, then back into the shell he went, Ortiz just pumped out the jab and occasionally dropped the left hand, didn't always land but nearly always outworked Ruiz, pathetic showing from Ruiz especially, looked shit scared to lead off or counter, outworked by a geriatric

yeah, they are more confident that Wilder gets past Helenius than I am.
The way Ruiz has performed against Areola and Father Time, I think he is an easier prospect for Wilder than Helenius

Can definetly see where your coming from , Ruiz could have and perhaps should have , picked up the pace , but i really don't believe people are giving Ortiz enough credit , he's south paw ,, tough has teak , still hits hard , very very experienced , and a tough matchup for anyone if there not careful

Ruiz has slowed his punch output considerably in the last 3 or so years.
I get it - he can knock guys out, but I had it really close against Ortiz who wasn't throwing a lot either. And spoiler alert- he didn't close the show on the weekend either
