Ruiz to 5. Ortiz to social security, he's out of top 15. Please retire.

Of course. Voted first; commented after.Ruthless-RKO wrote: ↑05 Sep 2022, 19:45 Make sure you get your votes on the poll.
I’m gonna go off that.

Ortiz is not a top 12 hw anymore. His legs are completely gone
Ruiz is ok where he is though in reality I suspect he'd lose to every other fighter listed in this bunch

i agree i think he'd lose to most of the rated guys, ffs chuck martin was bouncing him off the canvas and dropped his arse with a jab.
a chuck martin jab people. and taken 5 kds in his last 2 fights. if he continues he's going to get laid out

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
Ortiz would get obliterated by someone in shape.. I bet Jah could stop him.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
Uh, Ruiz beat Joshua and (arguably) Parker who are both in the top 5 according to these rankings. I'd say Ruiz jumps up to #3, under Usyk and Fury.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
It would be a shorter list of who wouldn't stop him if we are talking boxers on the way up.Jeff_lacy_ko wrote: ↑05 Sep 2022, 21:34 Ortiz would get obliterated by someone in shape.. I bet Jah could stop him.
He is old and chinny. It happens.
Lucas Browne was the same after he turned 40, Ortiz is closer to 45
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
Ruiz no change
Ortiz down to 14
Ruiz is too inactive to be taken seriously at this point. Can't put him in the top 5 for this win over a shot grandpa

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
I was keen to get rid of Ortiz due to being shot, but he won 7 rounds (ish) by most accounts, so can’t move him bellow Otto… Ortiz to 10
I’d actually like Ruiz down to 9 though.… Ruiz vs AJ II was a bad performance, Ruiz vs Arella was a bad performance, Ruiz vs Ortiz was a bad performance ( in my opinion). Don’t see how he is getting voted into the top 5 by some of the back of 3 poor showings.

Ruiz to 8th. I can't see him higher than Joyce now.
Ortiz to 14th. He'll be stopped by the majority of top fighters.

Quite a split poll for Ortiz.
Ruiz seemed to be on the rise but recent votes have him staying put.
We’re not really getting anywhere fast with these HW performances.

With Ortiz going basically even with a top 10 guy at 43 yrs old speaks volumes about most of the HW division, and shows Ruiz isn't much more than a gatekeeper.
Time to give someone like Jared Anderson or Frank Sanchez a shot. Other than Fury, Usyk, Wilder, and AJ, not a lot of good fights. Same place we've been 6-8 yrs ago.

Anderson needs to step up another level before being thrown to the big dogs.Bandog wrote: ↑06 Sep 2022, 09:09 With Ortiz going basically even with a top 10 guy at 43 yrs old speaks volumes about most of the HW division, and shows Ruiz isn't much more than a gatekeeper.

But your overall post makes sense. Ortiz is old as dirt and hung with a guy that is supposedly a top 5 fighter.
I can not drop Ortiz off of that performance. The other contenders need to take that spot not just move up because he is too old.
Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
Ruiz just got overrated after upsetting Joshua. I guess, the likes of Joyce, Whyte and Sanchez will KO Ortiz, what Andy failed to do.tiny_acres wrote: ↑06 Sep 2022, 09:28Anderson needs to step up another level before being thrown to the big dogs.Bandog wrote: ↑06 Sep 2022, 09:09 With Ortiz going basically even with a top 10 guy at 43 yrs old speaks volumes about most of the HW division, and shows Ruiz isn't much more than a gatekeeper.

Yes and Ruiz still couldn't do it. This was a close fight. I actually thought Ortiz would pull the upset. Ruiz has regressed and remains out of shape.margaret thatcher wrote: ↑06 Sep 2022, 10:27 jab of the gawds charles martin almost did it, ortiz is in love with canvas these days
Ruiz does not need to go up in the ratings off of this win

Based on the current poll..
So far, it steers me to move Ruiz one place up only to #5 and Ortiz to #10..
A lot of mixed votes and good arguments to be fair.

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
Very interesting, extreamly close fight yet the majority are voting Ruiz into the top 5 and Ortiz outside of the top 10. Feels weird.
Hypothetically had the judges given Ortiz the win (some people here had Ortiz winning) would we be voting Ortiz top 5 and Ruiz out of the top 10?
Ruiz’s last good performance was over 3 years ago. When was Ortiz’s last good performance? From what I’ve heard Scholars estimate it was around the time Moses split the Red Sea…

In Ortiz's case, 11 votes for remain and 9 for out of top 12.. not much in between.. That's why i'm inclined to put in #10..gregregegg wrote: ↑07 Sep 2022, 05:47 Very interesting, extreamly close fight yet the majority are voting Ruiz into the top 5 and Ortiz outside of the top 10. Feels weird.

It's not so much Ortiz, it's the ones below him..
Ortiz was ahead both times when he lost to Wilder, but then again, aren't most? Even with the KD's, there are many who still had Ortiz win..
In the end, the fact is, he lost the fight.. Close fight, but he lost..

I usually look at it as a whole.
Just as many are saying he shouldn't remain at 8 (in Ortiz's case)..
Usually best to find a middle..

Re: BoxRec Forum HW Top 15 ranking - Ruiz vs. Ortiz
This is none of my business, since I'm not really interested in BoxRec's ratings, but if we were to gauge form from their last four bouts...
Andy Ruiz Jr. has beaten Joshua, Ortiz and Arreola, with one loss to AJ.
Whereas Whyte defeated Povetkin and Wach, but was KO'd by Fury and Povetkin.
Dillian Whyte's overall resume is better than Andy Ruiz Jr's.
And the Brit at his prime would be favoured to beat the Mexican-American at his prime.
But in my mind, the current iteration of Ruiz Jr. appears to be more impressive than the shopworn Whyte, who seems extremely vulnerable to uppercuts nowadays and also appears to have far too many miles on his proverbial clock.
Most people will aggressively disagree and loudly proclaim I'm "WRONG", but that's my opinion.
