Yeah. On the channel 5 show. Can’t remember the opponent but it was someone I’d never heard of before. It’s been added to replace the Nathan Gorman fight.
Re: Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly - Terms Agreed
v David Benitez, an 8 & 7 Argentine. Lost his previous 3.

Re: Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly - Terms Agreed
The more I think about this fight the more I think its going to be a thoroughly entertaining domestic clash.
Somehow Troy has to withstand the typical Kelly fast start and then drag him into a war.
I think Kelly is a slight favourite but would love Troy to upset the odds

Thought Troy looked fornicating awful last night. It'll be like target practise for Kelly early doors, williamson will have to grit his teeth and get through it and impose his strength late on.
That Argie hurt him once or twice last night. If he had better conditioning he could have gave him a scare.

I think Kelly takes Troy apart with ease before Troy can come on late.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 04:07 Thought Troy looked fornicating awful last night. He nearly got banged out vs Cheesey and Cartwright and took a lot last night against a game… but very limited Rafa Benitez.
Troy is a KO waiting to happen… at British level.

Could be right. No doubt Kellys gonna be catching Troy with whatever he wants early doors but williamson took some huge shots from cheeseman without going down and Kellys power seems to flatter to decieve.Dioufy wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 14:24I think Kelly takes Troy apart with ease before Troy can come on late.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 04:07 Thought Troy looked fornicating awful last night. I could easily be wrong on this, though… that’s why it’s a tremendous fight.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 15:25Could be right. I think Troy is at his absolute ceiling in boxing and it’s time to see where Kelly is really at…
If Kelly is truly beyond British level then he should look spectacular in dissecting Troy… if he’s British level then it’s a 50/50 tear up and FOTY candidate.
Re: Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly | CH5 - December 2022
He WAS awful, but then he was just walking thru' him, completely dismissive and trying to get a highlight-reel KO for the TV. Not a lot to read in to it, imo. That said, he WAS awful and Kelly looks even more nailed on than before to be winning the early rounds.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 04:07 Thought Troy looked fornicating awful last night. This is an absolute cracker for free terrestrial TV !
Hopefully a great atmosphere, LLB fight will make some new boxing fans

Kelly looks big and solid (even @ SWW) and his punches are fast and accurate, but who did he ever really blast out a good level ? It's by no means certain that Kelly is beyond Brit level. He defo is, IF he puts it all together, but..., he doesn't seem to be able to.
That said, I agree with you at the same time !
It's what makes this fight so good. You can back and forwards over who is even the favourite.

I’d imagine so. Like you say it got him some rounds which he probably needed. Nice fight for council tv. Good to see British title fights televised again. We used to get them all the time, seems undervalued now.Bigdogsnose wrote: ↑18 Sep 2022, 15:55Short notice sort of stay busy fight as well. TROY WILLIAMSON-JOSH KELLY SET FOR DECEMBER 2 IN NEWCASTLE
It’s title time on the Tyne, with the epic North-East battle for the British Super Welterweight Championship confirmed between Darlington’s Troy Williamson (19-0-1, 14KOs) and Sunderland’s Josh Kelly (12-1-1, 7 KOs) at the Utilita Arena, Newcastle on Friday December 2, live on Channel 5.
Kelly expressed his desire to compete for Williamson’s Lonsdale belt as the two came face-to-face in July after ‘PBK’ beat Lucas Bastida to claim the WBO International Super Welterweight Title on July 30 at Newcastle’s Vertu Arena.
With the champion equally keen to get the fight on, Williamson since added a win of his own to his undefeated record as he stopped David Benitez in the sixth round on September 17 at the University of Bolton Stadium live on Channel 5.
“We’re two fighters flying the flag for the North East, but only one of us holds that British title,” said Williamson. “Every fight is going to be a tough fight at this level, especially when belts are on the line.
“I’m the champ, I’m undefeated, and I don’t think there’s anything he can throw at me that’ll stop my reign as Super Welterweight king as I move on to bigger and better things. One thing is for sure, and that’s fireworks.”
“This is set to be one of the North-East’s biggest fights in recent memory, and you can see exactly why,” said Kelly.
“Troy is British Champion for a reason and he’s obviously a good fighter. However, he’s just another obstacle in the way of me achieving what I’m destined to achieve, and he’ll be taken care of on December 2.”
After producing a stoppage win over Ted Cheeseman to become the British Champion in October of last year, Williamson has since defended his title against Mason Cartwright to set up this hugely anticipated clash against Kelly.
“The last time we ventured to the North-East, the people clearly showed their passion and love for boxing,” said Wasserman’s Head of Global Boxing, Kalle Sauerland.
“This time it is on another level as we bring one of the most hotly anticipated domestic dust-ups available. Two of the North-East’s own battling it out to boast the title of Britain’s best. Newcastle is about to host one of its biggest nights in the sport, and I cannot wait to be in the arena for an electric atmosphere come fight night.”
Williamson vs Kelly for the British Super Welterweight Championship tops a huge night of boxing in the North-East on Friday December 2 at the Utilita Arena, Newcastle with more major fights to be announced soon. Promoted by Wasserman Boxing in association with William Hill and Infinitum Entertainment, all the action will be shown live and free on Channel 5.

Terrific fight. There’s something about a really well matched domestic fight - we don’t get nearly enough of them.
Re: Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly | CH5 - 2 December 2022
Potentially one of the hottest British title fights of 2022
Fantastic news that it's on Channel 5
The fans deserve this and it's high time Wassaman Boxing delivered.

Coco, re: your comment "Yeah but Kelly wasn't even competitive" against Avanesyan....could I invite you to watch that fight again ???
Granted it was a European title fight and, therefore, scheduled for 12 rounds...but, in the 6 rounds it last lasted Kelly punch picked beautifully at times and staggered Avanesyan too !
I think uncompetitive is a bit harsh

Kelly accused Troy of being a Middlesbrough fan, not Newcastle, on Twitter. Troy's reply? "I don't support either".

Re: Troy Williamson vs. Josh Kelly | CH5 - 2 December 2022
kelly had 3 good rounds vs ava, started slowing in the fourth, beaten up a bit in the 5th, stopped in the 6th
he boxed well at times for sure, but for a very short duration, like it was an am fight. he needs a lot more steam to do that for 12
will be interesting. should be another one where kelly starts well, probably lights troy up at times, but can he hold on?
troy has looked mediocre at times, but he's brought it in his biggest fights. i think he's one of those who does better on the bigger occasions
