If Canelo will stop old GGG, it would be a a big performance knowing that G wasn't dropped or stopped before?

If GGG was 32 and Canelo 40?
Could this fight happen?
The problem here is that Canelo has to have all the advantages before he agrees to fight.
8 years in age, home soil (T Mobile, Sin City), sanctioning bodies, promoters and regular Canelo judges (Steve Weisfeld and Dave Moretti) in his pocket, significant weight advantage (we know he'll be well over 180lbs in the ring), and as usual with our boy Saul, non existent drug testing.
But apart from all that, this is a 100% legit straight up fight.

The thing is Canelo has all the advantages on his side. Its not a level playing field type of fight. Its just a business fight. Old G is being "sacrificed", but at least he'll get paid very well and he knows that.gilgamesh wrote: ↑16 Sep 2022, 11:38It's noteworthy when the 40 year old is still a World Champion who's beating everyone else he fights wouldn't you say?apollo creed wrote: ↑15 Sep 2022, 17:10Thats very true. You never fail to produce utter garbage do you?
Beating GGG at this stage, and at his age, is not a legacy fight, not even if he stops him. It's GGG's last fight most likely, and he's over 40.
When G was 34 y/o, Canelo vacated his mw wbc strap avoiding his mandatory challenger in GGG, hiding behind poor opposition like Khan, Smith and JCCjr.
You guys are talking like Golovkin is shot, and not still a consistent winner.

Only an idiot (EO) would defend Canelo ducking GGG years back, vacating his belt, claiming he wasn't a 160lber, fighting at 155, while re-hydrating to 180.
He avoided him for a year and a half, until GGG looked vulnerable in the Jacobs fight. Facts.

Canelo always has advantages. It still don't mean a big win means nothing. Won't mean as much as it would've if he had kicked Golovkin's ass the 1st time, but it will still mean something.apollo creed wrote: ↑16 Sep 2022, 13:31The thing is Canelo has all the advantages on his side. Stopping Golovkin will be impressive in any case, since his chin has never been cracked.
Re: If Canelo will stop old GGG, it would be a a big performance knowing that G wasn't dropped or stopped before?
Yeah, this forum goes from saying it'll mean nothing when GGG is still undefeated other than the Canelo losses. It'll still mean a lot if Canelo dominates GGG.gilgamesh wrote: ↑16 Sep 2022, 22:39Canelo always has advantages. It still don't mean a big win means nothing. If we go by the argument GGG is shot, then if he does beat Canelo it wouldn't count. Canelo is then at the point where he's irreparably past-prime and should retire.
GGG is a refined boxer and one of the best MW ever. Dominating him or beating him clearly right now is still a huge win. At the very least, he's a top 2 MW and a top 5 SMW at worst. That can't be argued.
Re: If Canelo will stop old GGG, it would be a a big performance knowing that G wasn't dropped or stopped before?
We all know physical attributes begin to go south around 40. GGG having a clean lifestyle extends that somewhat, but getting your body to respond in sync with your mind is tough.
I hope GGG performs well enough to win. I can't envision a KO like many are predicting. Now he's been with Banks a while, (2019) maybe we'll see a couple new things. Covid messed up a good part of their time together so maybe it will show more now.
Still picking GGG to win.

the actual fight, right? u surely don't expect the corrupt judge/goon squad to give g the decision?Bandog wrote: ↑17 Sep 2022, 08:14 We all know physical attributes begin to go south around 40. even if well deserved, no way he will get the decision.
golovkin would have to win every single frikkin round clearly with no room for discussion whatsoever like bivol did...
that won't happen,
it's gonna be a pretty close fight with golovkin still edging it.
regardless they gonna fornicate him over for the third time.
triple g, triple fvcked.
well compensated shaftings at least.
still, imagine his status would he have deservedly gotten the rightful decisions vs. the almighty messiah of beef & boxing.
all we want is fair judging. may the better man win.

Got me to thinking, imagine if GGG was rightfully awarded wins in the first two fights? But here we are, Canelo still on the pfp list, despite getting dominated in his last fight.

GGG is 40 now. He was robbed the first time vs Canelo, and there were signs of him slowing down even then. He is still a top 5 fighter in his division but at his age he clearly playing with house money, He can still hit and jab.
If by chance he is stopped tonight, it won't mean a thing . Sooner or later at age 40, father time can knock ANYONE out.
But if he wins via KO ( the odds of him getting a decision are long with these judges ) it will be a KO over a prime Canelo.
I'd like to see him go for it, like I said at his age he is playing with house money.

Re: If Canelo will stop old GGG, it would be a a big performance knowing that G wasn't dropped or stopped before?
Indeed, at that time Canelo was much younger and he was able to drain himself to 154 and then rehydrating a lot and be a weight bully on fight night, and back then his narative was that he is small for 160 lbs ........... but now he is the bigger man and G has to move up. wtf?
Canelo knew from those sparrings back in 2011 that GGG is too damn strong and skilled, so he waited for G to get older like 35 y/o to fight him.
Is Canelo olympic style drug tested by WADA or he is just "tested" by another org?

Even back then GGG was old-ish like 35-36 y/o. Not a spring chicken anymore. Now Canelo is trying his luck against an ancient version of Golovkin. lolgilgamesh wrote: ↑16 Sep 2022, 22:39Canelo always has advantages. It still don't mean a big win means nothing. Thats very true. G is very professional but you can't beat Father Time especially when we talk about a fighter with GGG's style and all his amateur fights. He has lots of mileage on his clock and a lot of wear and tear. Its not like GGG is fighting like FMJ or B-Hop.Bandog wrote: ↑17 Sep 2022, 08:14 We all know physical attributes begin to go south around 40. I noticed that are some sneaky haters that really want to see an old GGG getting beaten up or stopped by Canelo just for the fun of seeing GGG's granite chin being cracked or to mock GGGs fans which is sad.

true. Anyway regardless of the outcome G is gonna make a fortune. I mean it will worth it as he is still healthy.pound per pound wrote: ↑17 Sep 2022, 10:03 GGG is 40 now. I am a huge fan of GGG and think that he won the first two fights, but he is clearly shot now and will be stopped.
His great chin may cause him getting too much damage before getting stopped. I hope his corner throws a towel before there is permanent damage.
Regarding the thread title: NO, stopping this version of Golovkin will NOT be a significant achievement for Canelo.

Indeed G is faded. Hope G's trainer will stop the fight if G gets too much punishment. There is nothing funny being crippled when you r retired. Health comes first.

Sounds like a bunch of excuses to me. You ain't even Golovkin so why you're feeling the need for excuses when he's not I don't know.apollo creed wrote: ↑17 Sep 2022, 10:51Even back then GGG was old-ish like 35-36 y/o. Whatever the official records say
To most
Canelo is 1-2 and 0 v GGG (1-1-1 at absolute best)
That’s the bottom line
GGG can sail off into the sunset with his head held high
