Not whilst he considers himself entitled and privileged.

Even then it would be Andrade before Benavidez.

We all know he took he took the easier option by fighting a fast fading 40 year old ex champ.

A rematch with Dmitry Bivol also looks unlikely as boxing's biggest cherry picker seems to have finally run out of easy pickings.

Given the corner he's now painted himself into Cinco de Mayo 2023 might well be his last outing.

Here’s a list of the fighters that Canelo fought during his last ten bouts:

• Gennadiy Golovkin (twice)
• Dmitry Bivol
• Caleb Plant
• Billy Joe Saunders
• Callum Smith
• Sergey Kovalev
• Daniel Jacobs
• Rocky Fielding
• Avni Yildirim

Who did David Benavidez and Demetrius Andrade face during their last ten bouts?

David Benavidez refused to consider facing Jermall Charlo in a catchweight bout and was needlessly stripped of his WBC world 168lbs title twice.

And Demetrius Andrade ducked Zhanibek Alimkhanuly on two occasions, which resulted in his being stripped of his WBO world middleweight title.

Boo Boo was previously stripped of his WBO world 154lbs title due to him ducking Jermell Charlo and Matt Korobov.

Depends on...

A> What these fighters do between now and May. Parker, Lemieux are decent at best. Fight each other and make your own legacy. Be open to being B side if the fight is presented.

B> What happens at 175 between now and May. If unification can happen sometime in Spring at 175, I can't see Canelo turning down the opportunity to being undisputed at 2 weight classes in the 4-belt era.

Don't count on the pressure of sanctioning bodies or boxing media to do jack shyt...

Alvarez already defeated Andrade on press conference year ago. Speaking of Benavidez, i dont know why are guys suddenly talking about him as Canelo beater or "Canelo scared of this guy". Benavidez did nothing to earn the fight and his fights does not suggest he has bigger chance to beat Canelo than Jacobs, Smith, Saunders and Plant. Both Andrade and Benavidez are just another whores wanting paycheck. Well, if nothing else, at least Benavidez calling out Charlo and other guys.

The calibre of opposition facing Andrade and Benavidez is utterly embarrassing.

They’re not big names. Both men regularly have their titles stripped. Both face nobodies.

Neither Benavidez nor Andrade are achieving big numbers commercially.

Should Canelo be criticised for facing Bivol or Beterbiev instead of Andrade and Benavidez?

How moronic must any human being be to criticise the fighters that Canelo is facing in comparison to Benavidez and Andrade?

Benavidez had the canelo fight on a platter... then missed weight. he needs a statement win to earn that right back (or canelo to run out of opponents).

Boo boo just ducked alimkhanuly and has never fought at 168, so probably needs a few good wins to earn it.

Now, just because i dont think they have earnt it dosent mean i dont think they are good fights, they are reasonable canelo opponents, there just not in a spot to bitch and moan if it dosent happen... why dont they fight each other, that would be a start.

Those aren't marketable enough and don't have any belts. The SMW isn't interesting for Canelo now. The Redhead decided to take time-off, maybe even for a year. Probably he'll wait for the LHW stuff. Bivol wins Zurdo, Beter wins Yarde, then the fight for the undisputed championship, then Canelo goes for the winner.

If Andrade and Benavidez fought each other, I imagine Alvarez would be relatively interested in fighting the winner. However, the problem is there's a lot of fighters who want to get a shot at Alvarez without earning it. If Andrade had beat someone like Charlo, Daniel Jacobs, Benavidez, Munguia, Saunders, or Chris Eubank (or Ramirez / Callum Smith, prior to them moving up in weight); then his stock would be high enough to garner some interest. But Andrade isn't going to get a shot at the biggest cash cow in boxing by beating Walter Kautondokwa, Alantez Fox, Artur Akavov, Luke Keeler, and Jason Quigley. Like, Andrade is the type to try to talk his way into a match instead of actually earning it AT ALL.

Even so, there's no doubt that Andrade and Benavidez are two of the best options left at 168, but so what? Those are weak ass options that aren't even remotely intriguing to Alvarez compared to the Bivol rematch. The only way that Alvarez would resort to an Andrade / Benavidez fight is if Bivol, Beterbiev, Joe Smith, and Ramirez were all tied-up. Benavidez and Andrade really need to just fight each other or fight Jacobs / Saunders in order to produce someone who is more worth of the big paycheck. (Note: in the past few days, articles have dropped that give conflicting accounts regarding whether Saunders plans to return.)

It's a little disturbing how seasoned fans are now freely talking about numbers and sales as of that's any of their concern.

Shouldn't boxing be all about belts and titles? Champions and challengers?

If we accept these auction style fight arrangements then we're also accepting that boxing's really little more legitimate sport than watching YouTubers slugging it out.

Everyone knows that Benavidez is the rising star at 168, and almost everyone knows that Canelo's flapping and making quacking sounds.

No one has to earn or prove the right to fight the champion, they just have to be the best out there.

It's up to the true champion to defend against the best out there, and not merely cherry pick and set rematch terms (take drugs, buy judges, referees, pick venues, cheat the challenger etc).

The increasing use of the rematch clause should let everyone know that boxing is not a sport with a level playing field.

In fact I don't see the rematch clause going away anytime soon. The challenger thinks I can win twice and more importantly get vastly improved pay conditions whilst the champion gets a second chance in the case of a bad day at the office.

Who gets screwed?

The fans of course.

The rematch should only ever happen if there is no better fight out there, that's it.

i wud rather see canelo rematch bivol than fight either anrdade or beni .
Why should he bother with them given how far apart the level is based on who has fought who .
They only want the $$$$

He'll fight one of them at some point but the other will never get a fight with the cash cow.
Canelo is a once a year fighter from this point forward.
He's 32 and about to have surgery on his hand. Canelo fighting 3-4 times a year is over. He's got 5 or 6 fights left in his career..........Benavidez and Andrade are not going to be two of them.

Maybe Benavidez. I doubt Andrade ever really creates any real public demand for him to get a fight with Canelo.

They litterally had to drag Canelo in the ring to fight Lara. Andrade's style is similar, plus he's bigger, and better.

Hearn offered $50 mil for Canelo to fight Andrade, anc Canelo fought Kovalev for $35 mil.

No for Andrade, and No for Benevidez, since he's Mexican.(Canelo's new excuse)

Queensberry Promotions won the purse bid to stage the Andrade-Parker fight on the 5th November.

They were the only party to submit a bid, which they won with a paltry $305K offer, and is an incredibly low amount considering the WBO's minimum bid was $300K.

Demetrius Andrade will probably duck the Parker fight again, because his payday will be approximately $183K (i.e. 60% of $305K), even though he's completely out of options.

Boo Boo was previously accustomed to receiving $1.5m paydays until Matchroom dumped him and then stripped him of his WBO world middleweight title due to him ducking Zhanibek Alimkhanuly twice.

If anybody genuinely believes that Demetrius Andrade is being ducked is intellectually subnormal and clearly suffers from mental capacity issues.

Parker is an easy belt at 168, which just happens to be canelos preferred weight. People should be lined up to fight parker for free..., back yourself to win and put yourself in with a chance at mega millions down the line.

Andrade Should call out the winner of Crawford-Spence, for a Super Clash of Titans, @ 160.
Adrade-Crawford, or Andrade-Spence would be the Hagler-Hearns, or Hagler-Leonard of this era.
Craw or Spence Could Easily move up to 160.

No marquee fighter should consider facing Demetrius Andrade.
