With theseBritish guys though, you kinda still want them to go through the Brit/Comm/Euro process. Which You can still do in a short time.

Just seems to be something about Joyce , you look at him , he's a bit slow ,, does'nt seem to have the power the real punchers have , almost no urgency about him , but yet he puts the pressure on , at his own pace he can just keep on keeping on , yet he's big enough to set the pace . Dunno i can't put my finger on him , he just seems to do nothing great and everything good ,,, Think Usyks movement would give him problems , but most the others including AJ and Fury are going to have a hard night at the office with him ,, Wilders got a punchers chance thats all ,, I would like to see Joe and Fury ,, but i'll go on record now and say i highly doubt it will happen , Fury will call out AJ put obstacles in the way , tell the world Jocye is nothing and got nothing he wants , and fight Chisora or similar

some of what Joyce said

On the win over Joseph Parker
“I’m just over the moon, it’s great, man! That was a tough fight. I got through it. I trained hard for this, so did Joseph Parker. I’m quite happy with my performance. I think I have to watch it back to see what I have to improve. I mean, I always take shots, but I’m exciting to watch, I guess.”

On what message he thinks he sent to Fury or Usyk
“I’m here. ‘The Juggernaut’s’ here, baby. [laughing] That’s enough talking. Slowly getting better, I hope! But yeah.”

On the finish of the fight
“What a tough guy! It’s hard to — I was hitting him with everything and, like, I saw the cut opening up and I thought maybe the ref might have a look at it, but he stuck in there. I was just, like, trying to knock him down — body shot after body shot, head shot after head shot. What a tough guy. A warrior. A lot of respect to him.”

On being told it was a left hook that finished: “Aw, yeah, sick. Yeah, I’ll have to watch it back.”

On whether Parker hurt him
“Yeah, there’s a few shots that, if I go back and try to remember — yeah, he’s a tough guy, and strong shots, as well. I really had to, like, dig deep and push forward, because he was really tough and fighting all the way to the end.”

On what he said to Parker after the fight
“It’s just respect. I could shake his hand now, because the fight’s over and we could be nice again.”

On what could come next
“I’ll fight Tyson Fury, no problem, but hopefully Usyk next. ... Usyk! Let’s get it on, my friend.”

CompuBox Stats

Image
An interesting fact, the combined total punch count for both Ruiz Jr. and Ortiz during their bout was 728 shots, but that contest went twelve rounds.

In stark comparison, Joe Joyce threw 844 punches over ten rounds and one minute in the Parker bout.

Put it this way, Andy Ruiz Jr. threw 287 punches over twelve rounds in his fight against Luis Ortiz.

And whilst I agree that punch stats are usually meaningless, but when you combine these facts with the proverbial eyeball test, it's hard to imagine most heavyweights (not named Usyk and Fury) being able to cope with Joe Joyce's relentless pace.

If you can't hurt somebody and they're relentlessly coming forward, constantly throwing a barrage of shots at a rate you've never experienced before, then how on earth do you overcome that mammoth challenge?

I'm surprised he is asking for Usyk, the one guy I think would get the better of him.
Well I don't care if it's Uysk or Wilder or Fury or AJ. As long as it is soon.
It would be heartbreaking for him to lose his form, or chin while waiting on a title fight.

He’s been asking for the Usyk fight since he turned pro really. But of course he’s never been on that position and Usyk was still at CW.

:TU: I can understand redemption.
Usyk and Yoka have to be on his list.
I just think he can stay busy and make good money without being shelved waiting for a title shot that may take, heck, years...
Two years and he is 39, there has to be some decline.

Agreed. Give the guy a title fight. He ain't getting any younger. Everyone makes fun of his speed, or lack thereof, but he keeps winning and KOing guys who haven't been KOd.

I frankly like his Mummy Foreman style.

Also agree that I can't see him beating Usyk. Can't really see him beating Fury either. I'd favor him against Wilder, AJ, or Ruiz.

I hear you, but it's not that simplistic as it's not accounting for the right opponent's ability to stifle that output through footwork, setting traps, or simply having enough power to hurt Joyce.
Look at the way Pacman's punch stats went off a cliff against Floyd when they fought.

I think that he’s always had the same style & isn’t explosive explains it.

Most fighters gas when they empty the tank trying to finish someone. Joyce never really does that & he constantly mixes arm punches with more substantial ones so a lot of the shots he’s throwing aren’t draining (similar to Usyk).

That’s not to say he isn’t suspicious, I wouldn’t back anyone as clean with any confidence but there’s no sudden up turn in performance or change in appearance like how Povetkin suddenly got fitter & harder hitting or how Fury lost all the weight before they had positive tests. Joyce has always had the same style & similar performance level.
You make some good points :TU:

Only just caught up with it. Terrific main event. Joyce isn’t an easy night’s work for anyone.

I really enjoyed the Cacace fight too.

I think Frank/BT missed a trick not having it on regular BT actually. I genuinely don’t remember a PPV with so little build up or reaction. Most of my general sports fan mates didn’t even know it was happening let alone watched it which was a real shame considering how good a fight it was.

Hopefully they can Joyce active whilst the Usyk/Fury/AJ situation sorts itself out. They were talking about March which seems too long a break.

Considering he missed out on having DDD-JJJ as a PPV.. he wasn’t gonna let this pass.

Also, PPV was probably the only way to make the fight..

I get that PPV was probably the only way to make it work and pay them what they want but if it was only bought by 150,000 people, and it clearly didn’t generate much press, then it’s not going to help make be as big of a star fighter as he probably deserves.

They made the 100% right call with the Dubois fight not having it as PPV, Joe had good momentum after that but it wasn’t really capitalised on.

Yeh. I agree.. the Dub fight was right to be on regular sub BT.. As you said they, they missed the after-trick.. They did nothing with that momentum.

Are you sure that is the world total and not just the BT one?
You can't get BT outside of the UK so Sky Box Office carried it in their territories and didn't FITE have it on their platform for America and the rest of the world?

In that particular case it may have been down to PacMan being 5 yrs past his best with an injured shoulder as much as anything Floyd was doing
