Press Release

The unbeaten Joe McGrail and Steven Cairns head up an undercard packed with next generational talents at Probellum Liverpool II.

Probellum returns to the city on Saturday, October 15 when Peter McGrail headlines a hard-hitting show at the Eventim Olympia, Liverpool.

McGrail steps up to face Nicaraguan dangerman Alexander Espinoza over 10 rounds and is supported by Jazza Dickens‘ latest fight and the must-see UK debut of Olympic super heavyweight gold medallist Bakhodir Jalolov.

Former amateur sensation Peter (4-0, 3 KOs) is being moved quickly towards title contention but younger brother, Joe, is an emerging force to keep an eye on too, and he delivered a punishing KO the last time he fought in front of his home fans.

Cairns (3-0, 2 KOs), the well-supported Cork fighter, also produced a highlight reel finish at Probellum’s debut event in the city, earlier in the year, and the self-styled ‘Irish Takeover’ is a super featherweight destined for the top.

The classy Will Cawley boxes for the third time as a pro, in Liverpool, and the former Great Britain amateur (2-0) is ready to remind boxing fans why he is so highly thought of.

Joe McGrail said: “I produced the most explosive performance of my career in Liverpool in April and can’t wait to be boxing in front of my fans again, on October 15.

“I’ve been on the road since then but I’m returning with bad intentions and plan on putting on a show. After my fight, I’ll be at ringside to watch Peter headline the night, in a big moment for his career.”

Alex Dilmaghani is the most experienced name on the undercard and the former world title challenger (20-2-1, 8KOs) sharpens his tools ahead of a potential clash with British and IBO champ Anthony Cacace, with a six-round contest.

Liverpool’s well supported Frankie Stringer (2-0) impressed when making his pro debut in April and is ready to put on yet another display of intent, when he features in a six rounder at Probellum Liverpool II.

The popular Blane Hyland (6-1) showed his mettle last time out by getting up off the floor to defeat Stephen Jackson on points and the former Team GB southpaw fights again on next month’s show.

John Edwardson (3-0) kicks-off the card and looks to build on his promising start to life in the pro ranks with a fourth fight, since turning professional, earlier in the year.

Steven Cairns said: “After my devastating knockout at Probellum Liverpool last time, I hope I won some new fans and I fully intend to deliver excitement and entertainment for them all again, next month.”

This is a real bad fight I think. It’s not like Jalolov has turned pro. Pointless mismatch for his 12th outing.

I’m glad some of the Probellum boys are fighting but it’s a poor show.

Would have got more “eyes” on the Friday.
None of the big Prem sides playing and no Sky Sports show then....why do they schedule like this..unless no suitable venue?? 🤦‍♂️

Press Release | IBO SANCTIONS DICKENS VS. DLAMINI FOR VACANT FEATHERWEIGHT TITLE

The stakes have been raised for Jazza Dickens after it was confirmed he will now fight for the vacant IBO world featherweight title at Probellum's Liverpool show on October 15th. [The title was last held by Tugstsogt Nyambayar in 2019]. Dickens faces dangerous South Africa Lerato Dlamini at the Eventim Olympia on a big show that includes Peter McGrail’s hardest fight to date and the UK debut of heavyweight Bakhodir Jalolov. A Liverpool favorite Dickens (31-4, 12 KOs) knows there is no easy route back to the top of the division after last year’s world title attempt and the fight with Dlamini (18-1, 10KOs) comes on the back of April’s clash with former European champion Andoni Gago.

Dickens sparkled in front of his home fans that night, stopping the Spaniard, but the 31-year old is braced for a tougher night against South African Dlamini, with the IBO crown now up for grabs. Dickens said: “My route back towards the top of the division is laced with dangerous fighters, none more so than Dlamini. But if I want to land those huge fights with Josh Warrington, Leigh Wood, and the rest of the other champions, then I have to get past him. There is no room for error, I must produce the best performance of my career and so the stakes are extremely high on October 15th.”

Dickens will not only put himself in the frame for featherweight mega fights by winning the vacant IBO belt, but the southpaw can also follow in the footsteps of two legends. Marco Antonio Barrera and Prince Naseem Hamed have previously won the title and the crown was on the line when the pair met in a 2001 Las Vegas showdown.

But Dlamini arrives in Liverpool in confident mood having warmed up for the IBO clash with a fourth-round TKO win.
