Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
I would have loved to have seen Frank matched a little tougher in his career, more Bert Coopers and less Rodolfo Marins.
So had Frank been matched with Smokin' Bert, a proper tough nut that traded with some of the best of the day, how would he have fared?
I'd like to say that Frank might get Bert out of there in about 8 rounds but there's also the thought that he might tire down the stretch and get stopped late.

Cooper was all wrong for Big Frank, he could have got him out early but you're right - he was woefully undermatched in his career and would have loved to have seen him in with the likes of Greg Page, David Bey, Willie de Witt, Mike Weaver, Tim Witherspoon over 10 rounds, Jimmy Thunder etc - Cooper - I think would have stopped Bruno early....

Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Another case of a guy getting his biggest win on Mythical Fights.
Not sure what the fascination with Bert Cooper is all about.
Always thought of him as kind of a joke. Had some power but little defense and not much of a chin.
Made a lot hay from the "knockdown" of Holyfield, but come on.
Got stopped by Carl Williams. Quit against an ancient Foreman. Stopped by Bowe in two. Stopped by Moorer. Lost a decision to an ancient Weaver.
The best you could say is that he went the distance against Mercer.
Can't imagine him having any chance against Bruno.

Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
I think Bruno beats him too. Cooper was good sure, but I don’t think he was at Bruno‘s level. Although he was no Chuck Gardner either.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Cooper could give Bruno a fight, if he was prepared well, but most likely Bruno would KO pretty early.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Like Duke said Smokin' Bert was good, but a little inconsistent than his former mentor in Smokin' Joe as Bruno would wear him down behind his long left jabs and right hands then knocking Bert Cooper out in 6 rounds.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Bruno kayoes Cooper in 5.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Bruno for me at the end of a ram-rod jab, Cooper was tidy but not all that good.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Imagine how good Cooper would have been if he hadn't smoked.
Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
Bruno's stiff, powerful jab and power in either fist, makes it a hard night for Bert, imo.
Probably inside 6-8 rounds.

Re: Frank Bruno v Smokin' Bert Cooper
I can see Cooper at his best giving Bruno a struggle, and rattling him with a few shots, but ultimately I feel like Bruno is the bigger, stronger guy. More talented. More heart I felt like.
I think both guys would feel like they could beat the other guy so neither would give in easy, but Bruno is gonna win the day here. I think he stops Cooper around the 8th or 9th round in a pretty good fight.
