I mean compared to the judges scores.
97+97+96 divide 3 for CS, etc.
That's not how you score fights though.
It's how you measure how close your score is to the judges though -
99-91 being further away from the consensus scoring than 96-95.

You're the only person I've ever seen do that.

If seven rounds were clear for one fighter then this standard deviation theory doesn't really hold water.

You think? I didn't have the luxury of watching it on TV but from where I was sat I thought the result was fair.

It does make me wonder how women's fights would turn out if they were 3 minutes instead of 2 minutes. Serrano would have most likely won against Taylor if that were the case. If Marshall was coming on strong in the later rounds, I can only think she would have benefited had the fight been 3 minute rounds.

I’ve not really seen Marshall before and I can’t see what the big fuss about her is, she looks awkward and amateurish.

i was never on the marshall train and had said as much well before today. always saw that he was slow and plodding, but simply too strong for her undersized, old, and generally sh!te oppositon.

claressa was obviously levels above anyone marshall had faced, and having fought hammer, crews, and gabriels had been in with better than sav had. she had all the speed and movement to counter sav's slow plodding. it was never gonna just be sav walking through her

harper got destroyed by baumgardner at 130, then came all the way up and schooled sav's best win, who was amazingly a unified champ! gives you some perspective of how much farther talent goes in the heavier ladies divisions

imagine joe cordina coming straight up from 130 and schooling jermell charlo

Didn’t do her much good though, Shields seemed to her hurt her more and she isn’t a big puncher

Thought Mayer won by 3-4 rounds. Didn't see it close at all.

Shields proved herself but had it 5-4-1. Shields won her rounds big but didn't see it as a shut out at all.

i guess it was some karma-istic balancing act for mayer getting egregious a-side judging and winning by like 10 points in a 50/50 fight vs douche

Never seen Marshall before was shocked with how slow she was. When she was creating angles with her feet it was like she was doing it in slow motion. She reminded of a poor kenny Anderson.

On the positive side she has a good chin and engine, she was just not on the the same level as shields.

Never seen Shields before and was really impressed with how good she was but I think Marshall might of flattered her a bit.

I thought Mayer was outboxed, the Sky commentary team seemed to be bigging her up despite the fact she just plodded around the ring, failing to pin down Baumgardner and eating clean counters. Adam Smith and company will never change, they always get behind someone early then act all baffled when the scorecards don't match their own bias.

This was the best advert for women's boxing I've seen, simultaneously the worst for short rounds.
agreed.
Bollocks to that, the rematch should be 12x3. When women run a marathon, they still run 26.2 miles.

Turned the sound off so don't know. Interesting how people see it differently. Baum was quiet for most rounds, exploded for little spurts, some missing some landing, but was soundly beaten by Mayer's jab. I was actually surprised how easy Mayer had it. For me it was one of the worst decisions I've seen in a long time. But always respect your POV mate.

Likewise. Btw you said about Baum exploded in spurts, that's true, but a small spurt in a 2 minute round is probably twice as effective as it would be in a 3 minute round. I also think that scoring is probably twice as subjective too, over 2 minutes.
