Giovanni De Carolis and Erik Bazinyan may be Andrade's next opponents. He'd probably want to continue on the same track record at 168 like he did at 154 and at 160.

I think its more about Bena's handlers bc Bena is a young-mexican former champion, now a top contender with some hype behind him, so his handlers want to put him in a position for a more lucrative fight , i.e Benavidez could fight Plant for the WBC smw title , if Canelo will drop it.

Bena probably will make the same kind of money by fighting Uzcátegui, as he'd make by fighting Andrade. Also Andrade could be a much risky fighter for Bena. Its risk vs reward.

Yeah but he was fighting weak opponents. He ain't proven/ battle tested at the top level. We don't know how really good he is.

Indeed, not so much money but Andrade was in safe mode at 154 too. He wanted to cash in vs Cotto or Canelo but he didn't want to build up his resume vs guys like Lara, Trout, Korobov, Hurd, J-Rock , etc. I mean he didn't want to risk.

If you look at Andrade's track record, he is trying to stay at that weight were the golden gooses are but he doesn't really want to take some risks and fight some top contenders to build up his boxing profile. He just wants to cash in vs a big money name. He couldn't do it at 154 (Cotto, Canelo, FMJ), he couldn't do it at 160 (Canelo and GGG) and I doubt he would do it at 168, unless he'd fight some top fighters.

After blatantly ducking Zhanibek Alimkhanuly twice (at 160lbs) and Zach Parker twice (at 168lbs) the 'King of the Tune-up's', Demetrius Andrade, has just admitted he needs yet another tune-up prior to facing anyone half-decent at 168lbs:

“I would definitely like that (Plant fight). I want to get in the ring, get a little rust off, and then in early 2023 be in there with Plant, for sure.”
