Press Release

Golden Boy will return to Fantasy Springs Resort Casino on Thursday, Oct. 20 for its Thursday evening series Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN. The special night will be themed pink to commemorate Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be broadcast live worldwide on DAZN.

Headlining the show is newly-signed, blue-chip prospect Floyd “Kid Austin” Schofield (11-0, 9 KOs) of Austin, Texas. Schofield will be looking to dazzle the crowd yet again after his impressive knockout win over former IBF Junior Bantamweight Champion Rodrigo Guerrero (26-15-2, 16 KOs) on the undercard of Ortiz vs. McKinson on Aug. 6.

“I am at a loss for words," said Floyd Schofield. "This is a dream come true. My dad always told me this was all going to happen. To see it really happen, is beyond words. Now I have to do my part and win.”

Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas (22-5-1, 14 KOs) will be looking to avenge his last defeat in the ring against Lamont Roach, Jr. on the undercard of Zurdo vs. Barrera last July 2021. Rosas is a two-time world title challenger and former WBO Youth Super Flyweight and WBC Caribbean Boxing Federation (CABOFE) Super Flyweight Titleholder.

“He might be very well-spoken and media trained but I am a warrior,” said Daniel Rosas. “I hope he knows that on October 20, I will be coming with everything for him.”

Press Release | Eric Tudor To Return on Card

Highly touted super welterweight prospect Eric Tudor (5-0) will return to the ring on October 20th on the Floyd Schofield-Daniel Rosas undercard in Indio, Calif. The fight is part of Golden Boy’s monthly prospect series that stream live on DAZN.

Tudor’s opponent will be the battle tested Isiah Jones (9-7). The Detroit native has only lost to undefeated opponents.

If all goes well, Tudor will return to action on a major card in December.

“I’m very focused on taking care of business in October against Jones. There is a lot on the line. I’m grateful to the opportunities Golden Boy has given me and I believe that another victory should earn me a long term promotional agreement,” said Tudor.

The 2020 Romanian Olympian made his pro debut in February when he stopped Dalton Duncan in the opening stanza of their bout scheduled for four rounds.

He has followed that up performance with four more victories including three by knockout. He was last in action in February when he stopped fellow unbeaten prospect Edgar Valenzuela (now 7-1) in two rounds.

Tudor’s trainer Derik Santos is very pleased with the progress his young charge has made in the professional ranks.

“You can see he is growing as he has progressed from four to six rounds,” said Santos. “He already had a pro style and we are just developing it more every time he steps in the ring. I’m very happy with the improvements he’s made.”

Rosas was a pretty good contender-level fighter a decade ago when he was fighting at junior bantamweight and bantamweight. At 33, as a lightweight at this point in his career, he's just another quick KO to pad the youngster's record.

Just gave that a watch, if his dad is to be believed then we could have another star on our hands, reckons Schofield rocked Haney in sparring, don't like people talking sparring stories unless maybe it's the fighters themselves

Schofield ices Rosas in a round, very impressive, lightening quick hands, put the pressure on Rosas straight off the bat, throwing combinations to head and body, never giving him time to settle into things before uncorking a left hook which sent Rosas down hard, ref didn't ever bother to count

Oscar might have another potential star on his hands

LIVE DAZN Results

Joshua Garcia was put to the test in his audition to one day join the Golden Boy Promotions stable.

The 20-year-old from Moreno Valley, California prevailed in the very venue he visited so many times before as a fan, outlasting a determined Christian Lorenzo over four rounds. Scores were 40-36, 39-37 and 39-37 in favor of Garcia, a promising prospect who made his televised debut Thursday evening on DAZN from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

Roberto Diaz, vice president and executive matchmaker for Golden Boy, warned Garcia—who is trained by Manny Robles—that he would be matched aggressively on the show and delivered on that promise. Los Angeles’ Lorenzo (3-4, 1 KOs) didn’t give an inch against the unbeaten Garcia, forcing exchanges at close quarters and enjoying success with right hands upstairs.

In the end, it was Garcia’s hand speed and combination punching that caught the eyes of the judges, as he improved to 6-0 (3 KOs) with his fourth win of 2022.

Ramon Marquez will celebrate his 19th birthday on Friday but it was his unbeaten opponent who was afforded the opportunity to celebrate. Eric Tudor continued his brilliant first year as a pro with a second-round knockout of Arizona’s Marquez. The undefeated junior middleweight from Fort Lauderdale, Florida scored two knockdowns before forcing the stoppage at 2:41 into round two.

Tudor set the tone early, taking the fight straight to Marquez and landing with right hands upstairs and digging left hooks to the body. It was the body attack that quickly broke down Marquez, who was floored by a left hook to the liver midway through round two.

Tudor had Marquez (5-3, 5 KOs) on the canvas moments later, though he was once again able to beat the count. Tudor applied further pressure, landing a left hook to the body and three shots upstairs before referee Thomas Taylor jumped in to stop the contest.

Tudor cruises to 6-0 (5 KOs), with all five knockouts coming in two rounds or less. The 20-year-old rookie turned pro in February, with Thursday marking his third straight appearance on the Golden Boy Fight Night on DAZN prospect-based series.

Jorge Estrada’s longest fight prior to Thursday lasted just 111 seconds. The unbeaten Mexicali native fought well beyond that, going the distance in taking a four-round, majority decision win over Mexico’s Sergio Gonzalez (6-12-1, 2KOs). One scorecard of 38-38 was overruled by more sensible and matching scores of 40-36 in favor of Estrada (4-0, 3KOs) in their junior middleweight heat.

Headlining the show, 20-year-old lightweight prodigy Floyd Schofield Jr. (11-0, 9KOs) faces faded former title challenger Daniel Rosas (22-5-1, 14KOs) in a scheduled eight-round contest.

STILL TO COME:

Anabel Ortiz (32-5, 4KOs), Mexico City, 108 pounds vs. Maria Santizo (10-1, 1KO), Guatemala City, Guatemala, 106.6 pounds—8 rounds, junior flyweight

Floyd Schofield Knocks Daniel Rosas Out In 97 Seconds; Calls For Marc Castro, Keyshawn Davis

Floyd Schofield envisioned his Golden Boy Promotions debut ending in a first-round knockout.

The 20-year-old lightweight was prophetic in that perception, needing less than 100 seconds to take out Mexico City’s Daniel Rosas. A clean left hook upstairs put Rosas down and out, producing an immediate ending at 1:37 of the opening round of their DAZN-aired main event Thursday evening from Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.

Schofield—originally from New Jersey, and now based out of Austin after his family overcame homelessness—didn’t go looking for the night, coming out patiently and looking to set up his power shots. That opportunity came in a hurry, when Rosas offered just enough of an opening for Schofield to attack the body.

Rosas had a brief spill to the canvas, though accurately ruled a slip by referee Ray Corona. He would find himself back on the canvas a few moments later. Schofield landed in rapid fire succession before closing the show with a sweeping left hook. Rosas hit the deck and was never a threat to make it to his feet. As much was recognized by Corona, who immediately motioned for medical attention.

Rosas was able to come around and make it out of the ring. He does so with his second straight defeat in hand, falling to 22-6-1 (14 KOs) and likely no longer of use in developmental fights such as this.

Schofield cruises to 12-0 (10 KOs) with the win, his fourth of 2022 and with all ending inside the distance. Thursday’s feat came eleven weeks after first catching the eye of Golden Boy Promotions, when he stopped former junior bantamweight titlist Rodrigo Guerrero after five rounds on an August 6 DAZN show in Fort Worth, Texas. Golden Boy signed him to a promotional contract just eleven days later, with this bout marking the first of what is expected to be many headlining acts.

Thursday’s bout was scheduled for eight rounds, though Schofield expects to advance to the ten-round level by his next fight. The desire is to have at least one more fight before the end of the year and then advancing to the absolute top level of the division in the year ahead. For now, he will just settle for the division’s fellow young guns.

“Hopefully I can get another fight before the end of the year and then get some of these guys they’re calling top prospects,” Schofield told Golden Boy Fight Night’s Brandi Flores. “Marc Castro, Keyshawn Davis, all of them who they consider a top prospect. There can’t be twenty of us; only one can come out on top.”

Rising Prospect Floyd Schofield Calls Out Keyshawn Davis

“Hopefully I can get another fight before the end of this year, and I want all the top dogs they call prospects, because I’m the top prospect, and I think I just proved it.”

Floyd Schofield feels like that number should be narrowed down. “Marc Castro, Keyshawn Davis, all of them, just everybody who they consider a prospect lets fight, lets see who’s the prospect. It can’t be twenty of us, only one can come out on top.”
