December should be a month with A LOT of fights.
They probably can.. but they shouldn’t do another PPV.

He should get back regular showtime.

He used to do good numbers (by todays standards)..

Wouldn't be against see Wilder Vs Joyce but they've been mentioning the fight with Ruiz for a while now, surely it would be easier to get over the line.

Hearn: Wilder-Ruiz is a Brilliant Fight, I See Him Beating Deontay Wilder

“Ruiz/Wilder is a brilliant fight,” said Hearn to Fight Hub TV. “I see him beating Deontay Wilder.”

“I really like Andy Ruiz,” continued Hearn. “I thought he looked better against Ortiz, good victory. Wilder was good the other night. Helenius might be past his best but still, Wilder is very dangerous. He’s brilliant for the sport. And Andy Ruiz is a warrior. I just think Wilder vs. Andy Ruiz is a brilliant fight.”

Of course, the judges only necessary if Andy is still standing at the end. But as others have pointed out, pocketing rounds isn't exactly Wilder's strength. I don't know what will happen if you put these animals in the ring together but I vote for 'competitive'. :D

It's very likely that Wilder will win by KO/TKO..

Ruiz doesn't move his head very well, so he'll be easy to hit. Wilder has long arms so the shorter-armed Ruiz will have a problem keeping his distance.

Although Ruiz doesn't have a bad chin, after several big punches from Wilder, he'll be stopped.

Ruiz is the better, more skilled boxer and has faster hands. However, Wilder has the jab and movement to outbox Ruiz from the outside like he did in the first Stiverne fight. If Ruiz came in 265lb plus, he likely wouldn't have the workrate to win. If he came in under 260lb - and the lighter the better to a point - he would have a real chance and I might even favor him.

Ruiz didn't exactly impress against grandpa Ortiz, nearly lost in fact. He won wider on the cards vs Arreola, but got hit more.

Ortiz is right after fighting both - Wilder just may kill Ruiz. He doesn't have to hit you at the end of his punch, he can knock you down or KO you at short range too. Ask Fury or Helenious.

Andy Ruiz's Father: Deontay Wilder is The Fight We Want!

“There is nothing [official]... We have until December to decide who he's going to fight. But Wilder is the one we want," the elder Ruiz told Izquierdazo.

"I think Wilder wants [unified champion Oleksandr] Usyk or [Anthony] Joshua, he said he was not interested, but we hope the fight will take place because they are going to make it a mandatory," Ruiz Sr. said.

“There is one more fight left (with PBC) and they have not told me who we are going to fight with. It can also be with the other Cuban, with Frank Sanchez, but we will see who they want to put him with," Ruiz Sr. said.

When will Deontay Wilder vs Andy Ruiz Jr happen?

He wants Wilder or Ruiz to claim the coveted mandatory spot for Fury in 2023. That’s a fact. The only thing to arrange is the date and venue.

WBN believes Las Vegas is the current favorite to host between February and May. It depends on whether Mexican boxing star Canelo Alvarez intends to take that Cinco de Mayo date.

Canelo is nursing an injury that could keep him off his usual date in Nevada.

The May 6th cross on the calendar would be ideal for both fighters with previous headlining experience on the strip and the Mexican angle.

New York [Barclays Center, Wilder’s top territory] and Los Angeles [Ruiz’s best venue, the old Staples Center] are currently being ruled out in favor of neutral ground.

Wilder’s trainer Malik Scott stated he didn’t want “The Bronze Bomber” to fight Ruiz. However, that’s not his decision, and the wheels are already in motion.

Cinco de Mayo is seven months away. They don't need to wait that long for this. Wilder is getting older by the day. :OhYes: .

If Wilder doesn't get worse because of his age, it will quite easy for him to ko Ruiz. Ruiz seems to have a good chin, but his defense is not that good and i don't think he can handle Wilder's power anyway.

Well one thing Wilder's got going for him is that old adage "Power is the last thing to go"

It's definitely the last thing you want to go when it's the only thing you've really got.

I always hope Andy trains and gets into shape whenever he is set to fight someone.
I'm let down every time.
And as he gets older, carrying that extra fat around the ring slows and tires him faster.

He clearly lost a lot of fat the last time. He still weighed a lot.

There’s a difference tho between fat and muscle.

Against AJ in Saudi.. that was plain FAT!

Much as I like Ruiz I'm not so sure that he can weather the storm. It will be an interesting contest because I do think Ruiz will at some point trade it out with Wilder but ultimately I think that Wilder will stop him.

That will only increase Wilder's stock and overall legacy because Ruiz had defeated Joshua and was a unified champion for a time. And if Wilder does beat Ruiz that only increases Fury's stock and legacy too, since Tyson Fury defeated Wilder basically three times.

Considering the two men have a promotional history together Wilder would not make the kind of mistake that Joshua did not taking Ruiz seriously. But I also think Ruiz will probably train for this the hardest of his entire life because he knows that Wilder will be the toughest challenge of his career.

I'm having flashbacks a bit to when Arreola fought Wilder, and remarked that Wilder was the hardest puncher he ever faced. And I'm thinking how an even older version of Arreola went the distance with Andy Ruiz not long ago.

This might be a bigger upset for Ruiz if he beat Wilder than the Joshua fight was. But I tend to think this fight isn't going to go more than five or six rounds if it goes down.

Andy Ruiz On Deontay Wilder Fight: "I Throw That Right Hand To His Temple And He’s Gonna Go Down"

“We knew he was going to get that win easy. That was his sparring partner, so what do you do with sparring partners…..you know exactly what you’ve gotta do, you know exactly what they do,” Ruiz said of Wilder’s comeback win. “We’re right here trying to stay busy and we’re ready for whatever comes my way. For me, I feel like I can take a punch. I’m not saying he [Wilder] doesn’t hit hard or nothing, but just like Eddie Hearn was saying, I’m gonna get in, I’m gonna throw my combinations, I’m gonna be fast, explosive, and I throw that right had, in his temple, and he’s gonna go down.”
