It looks like Ricky Hatton will relinquish his third world title outside the ring. Promoter Dennis Hobson told the BBC, "We are finalizing negotiations at the moment. Moving back down to 140lbs to fight Urango is our preferred route." Urango's manager Luis Navarro told Fightnews that Urango has already signed for the fight. "This fight of a lifetime has already been signed and a tentative date as well as location has been scheduled," he stated via email. A December 9 HBO-televised bout in Atlanta has been penciled in. The WBA has ordered Hatton to make his mandatory welterweight title defense against Oktay Urkal, which was one of the provisions for the WBA's sanctioning of Hatton's title shot against Luis Collazo.
Hatton-Urango likely
Channel Five showed Urango vs Ben Rabah a few weeks ago. Urango is several leagues below Ricky Hatton.
UK fans will most likely be charged fifteen quid to see Hatton's next bout regardless of the opponent, and this hardly represents good value for money for the paying punters, IMO.
I know the politics aren't making things easy but for pete's sake can't they find a better opponent ?!
I said on this forum the other day that I'd still like to see Hatton take on Gatti and this just re-enforces that feeling....
