I wonder how much long term damage AJ suffered in the two Usyk fights? I'm looking forward to his comeback fight, apart from the silly comments after the last fight, I think he carries himself very well. He went up a lot in my estimation when he lost to Ruiz, took the loss on the chin and didn't come up with loads of excuses.

For the Ruiz defeat, he promised to reveal why he lost in the immediate future, but as far as I'm aware he has never said what it was to this day.

Maybe he came to his senses because we all know why he lost and fanciful excuses were not required.

Anthony Joshua Vs. Dillian Whyte II Possible For January Or February Says Eddie Hearn

Eddie Hearn says the next fight for Anthony Joshua will be in January or February, possibly against Dillian ‘The Body Snatcher’ Whyte.

Hearn states that Joshua (24-3, 22 KOs) said that he wants the rematch with Whyte (28-3, 19 KOs) next. However, Whyte, 35, still needs to win his November 26th confidence booster against American Jamaine Franklin (21-0, 14 KOs) on DAZN at the Wembley Arena in London.

According to Hearn, Whyte is “probably the frontrunner” for Joshua’s next fight is he gets through the Franklin contest on November 26th without losing. Another option for Joshua is Otto Wallin.

Whyte is coming off a sixth round knockout loss to Tyson Fury last April, and he needs a solid win over Franklin in November to make him a viable opponent for Joshua.

“Probably January or February is where we’re looking at,” said Eddie Hearn to DAZN Boxing Show about when Anthony Joshua will be fighting next.

“In terms of names, talking to him the other day, he wants to fight Dillian Whyte, really. Dillian Whyte fights on November 26th against [Jamaine] Franklin, who is talking a tremendous game, and we’ll see how that plays out.

“I think Dillian Whyte is the frontrunner [for Joshua] if he comes through. Otto Wallin is a guy that has reached out numerous times. That’s a good fight for him as well.

“Then there’s the Wilder situation. I’m not saying that’s going to be the fight for January or February, but it’s definitely a fight that he’s looking at. The feeling for AJ is the value of, and by the way, none of them are easy fights, the value of a tune-up is sometimes they’re as dangerous as each other.

“I don’t think he [Joshua] wants to start dropping out of the top 15 and top 10 of the governing bodies and just looking for an easy touch. I think he wants a real fight, and those are all real fights that you could see.

“I’m not happy it didn’t happen because I got most of the blame,” said Hearn when asked if he’s happy the Joshua vs. Tyson Fury fight didn’t get made for December 3rd. "It probably wasn’t the right time. But once he’d taken the bait, once he had it in his mind that it was the fight he wanted, that was it. The decision was made,” said Hearn.

I sense they haven't got a fking clue what they are doing with Joshua, but just keeping his name out there.

The idea he fights in January or February against Dillian Whyte is ludicrous.

The roll of unnecessary rematches continues? Instead of the wanted fights. This sport sucks.

The title of this thread will have to keep being changed as each month ticks by and it becomes apparent that he isn't going to fight in that said month.

Hearn doesn't need to flap his gums unnecessarily, just tell us when Joshua actually has a fight signed and sealed, when and where it's going to be.

Wallin keeps begging for this..

“I think it’s positive that my name is being mentioned but I would like to be the frontrunner,” Wallin told Express Sport via Rekatochklart. “I think Whyte is a good style for Joshua, he knocked him out last time, I don’t think much has changed.

“A guy like Usyk is a terrible style for him because Joshua struggles with good boxers and I’m a good boxer and I’m a southpaw so I think I can give Joshua a better fight. I’ve proved myself with Fury, I gave him a really tough fight and he handled Whyte much easier than me.

“Judging from that I think I’m a much better fight for Joshua and we fought twice in the amateurs, I lost close decisions in fights that could have gone either way and we’ve sparred before, so we know each other pretty well.

“He knows that I’m a good fighter and I know that he’s a good fighter. I think that fight makes a lot of sense especially given that I have a good following in England thanks to the Fury fight and the problems I gave him. So, I think people would respect that fight.”

Talking of a spring time fight v Whyte now, and it seems the Fury fight was never an option as his head wasn't right after the Usyk beating according to an interview.
Maybe he won't bother to fight again ? He's rich enough not to want to do the hardship of a training camp and put himself through another fight

I think it's looking like AJ-Whyte 2, April time and titled 'Bad Blood 2' with Whyte throwing a table at AJ in the press conference. Big stadium fight, 1.2m PPV. In theory Whyte should be made to measure and has probably lost his punch resistance. AJ is back with a super knock out. Failing that they'll have a rematch clause. Maybe they follow that up with AJ-Chisora

Anthony Joshua's Next Opponent Will Depend on Return Date, Says Hearn

"I think it all depends on when AJ fights, if he waits until April or May, he may go straight into the Dillian Whyte fight. If he fights in February, he may have a warm-up fight first," Hearn said to The DAZN Boxing Show.

"He’s coming to Abu Dhabi this week; we are sitting down with him to plan the next step and we’re on the verge of mapping that out."

"I actually sent Shelly Finkel an email back in August to talk about a deal and he actually replied to me yesterday. I invited them out here to Abu Dhabi this week, they can’t come, but I see the Deontay Wilder fight probably being the second fight for Anthony Joshua in all honesty, but he’s up for fighting anyone," Hearn said.

"If he waits, he may go straight into that fight, it all depends on when he returns, if he returns early in the year, he’ll fight someone else first and if not he’ll go straight into the Whyte or Wilder fight."

Joshua: I Would Fight Wallin, Whyte, Hrgovic - I Like Fighting Good Opponents

"Yeah I'll fight Otto. Yeah, I'll fight Dillian. I'll fight Hrgovic. I like fighting good opponents. And as much as it's becoming a champion, I always felt like it was important for me to fight the best in my era," Joshua told DAZN.

"Because there was this whole stigma about cherry picking. Boxing, if you want to get to get to the top, you have to take risks. Calculated risks, but you definitely have to take risks. And I just like taking risks. It's not how popular a fighter you are that makes you a good fighter, it's how good a fighter you are that will make you popular.

"So competing with the best and training for the best has always helped me elevate my game. So yeah, would I fight Wallin? [Yeah]. As I said, they may not be the most popular guys on social media, but they're solid fighters.

"I'm not gonna sit here and I'm not gonna tell you, 'Nah they're rubbish.' I'm gonna give them the credit they deserve and I'll never underestimate anyone I step in the ring with. That's how we have to think. Everyone is a solid competitor. And that'll make me raise my game."

On fight night, Fury would have last fought 8 months ago.

If Joshua fights in April, he'd have not fought in 8 months also.
