Could GGG clean up the mw division (Charla, Eubanks, Mung, Zanibek, Lara and Falcao) in the next 2 years?

Post by apollo creed »

GGG is old but we know that he is very tough and durable with a very good training ethic. Also he is living a clean & healthy life.

I'd like to see GGG retire after his next fight with Falcao in Kazakhstan but maybe GGG wants to enhance his boxing legacy and retire as a unified mw champion?

I think the fights with Charla and Lara would be difficult/impossible to be made bc both are with PBC and GGG seems to keep working with DAZN.

somewhere along the line he'd lose

he's what, 40 or 41 already? still good but clearly fading. he's going to fight falcao in khazakstan, who knows if he'll go on after that homecoming.

i would still love ggg-mung though

I think he can go on longer than most might think. I was impressed with the win over Murata. Yes he is slowing down but he looked strong. Canelo is Canelo so no comment on that fight. Really looking forward to the Falcao fight.

Not sure if he would necessarily beat Charlo today. Much less likely that he'd be able to beat 6 guys in 2 years. He'd probably be way past his prime by the second or third fight.

the sad thing about the mw division is that falcao is still better than the last opponent of charlo, mung, jani, and lara. they all be doing f@ck all

although at least jani tried to get a fight with andrade before poo poo ran away to fight no one at 168. problem is he's now on a can crushing diet himself :verysad:

G may as well retire after his fight with Falcao but we don't know for sure.

Indeed, against Murata G was looking very strong and muscular. Of course that he was slow and ring rusted but he finished the job very well.

Well, Charlo is inactive and I think he has slowing down too.

Based on GGG's last two fights I think he could handle Charlo and Janibek to unify all the titles at mw next year.

True. But the good news is that all these guys/ their handlers would take a fight with a 41 y/o GGG in a heartbeat bc G is a huge scalp at mw and a good payday.

Probably G's next move like fighting in his homecountry would be his last fight and then retire.

Canelo x 3
Jacobs
Chenko
Lemieux
Murata

Nice resume and nice paydays. :TU:

They're all waiting for GGG to retire.

They've been patiently waiting for a few years now.

Losing to a 41 year GGG is certainly not in their plans.

Charlo is VERY inactive right now

Code: Select all

No.	Result	Record	Opponent	Type	Round, time	Date Notes
32	Win	32–0	JM Montiel	UD	12 Jun 19, 2021	Retained WBC middleweight title
31	Win	31–0	SDer'chenko	UD	12 Sep 26, 2020	Retained WBC middleweight title
30	Win	30–0	Dennis Hogan	TKO	7 (12), 0:28	Dec 7, 2019	Retained WBC middleweight title
29	Win	29–0	Brandon Adams	UD	12 Jun 29, 2019	Retained WBC middleweight title
28	Win	28–0	Matt Korobov	UD	12 Dec 22, 2018	Retained WBC interim middleweight title
27	Win	27–0	H Centeno Jr.	KO	2 (12), 0:55	Apr 21, 2018	Won vacant WBC interim middleweight title
26	Win	26–0	JS Heiland	TKO	4 (12), 2:13	Jul 29, 2017
This is shocking! The fight fight Heiland was his ONLY fight in 2017 as well.

Indeed that would look really bad. I mean, imagine Charlo , Munguia or Eubank Jr getting stopped by an ancient version of GGG? lol

The thing is G is the kind of fighter that ages well with his boxing style and his toughness. I mean in his last fight with Canelo, G took some solid haymakers from Canelo and he kept going like nothing happen. Also G's jab is still solid.

Indeed. Also wbc allows him to stay like that with ease. I think Charlo is kept on idle-safe mode for a future cash in vs Canelo or maybe GGG.

Too many boxers these days get a good payday and sit on it. Pay bills buy cars, live rich, etc. The sport has spoiled most. When money gets low, they fight sgain but there's really no future for guys like Mall. That said, I'd like the paychecks he's got.

Career Earnings: Jermall earned $500,000 from his 2016 fight against Austin Trout. He earned roughly the same for his bouts against Julian Williams, Matt Korobov and Hugo Centeno Jr.. He reportedly grossed $700,000 from both his fight against Brandon Adams and Dennis Hogan. He then earned $1.25 million for the match against Sergiy Derevyanchenko.

Officially Mall's net worth seems to be around 3 M's which is not so much. Maybe he has some other deals, investments, endorsements, etc ??
