Joseph Parker vs. Otto Wallin - Who wins?

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Otto Wallin's Promoter Will Explore Fight With Joseph Parker

The team behind heavyweight contender Otto Wallin would like to secure him a fight with former WBO world champion Joseph Parker.

A few months ago, Parker suffered the first knockout loss of his career when Joe Joyce stopped him inside the distance of their WBO interim-title clash.

Wallin is pushing to make himself the frontrunner to face former two-time champion Anthony Joshua in 2023. Joshua is considering several names for his next fight. Wallin is one of those names, but not at the top of the list.

The Swedish boxer had his first bout on UK soil back in February with a decision over Kamil Sokolowski in Cardiff.

"Otto fought in the UK this year," Wallin's promoter Dmitriy Salita told Sky Sports. "His goal is to get a rematch with Tyson Fury and to fight Anthony Joshua.

"Tyson is fighting obviously against (Derek) Chisora in December, but Joshua seems to be in flux. Otto wants to keep busy with significant fights. Joseph Parker is a good opponent for Otto to fight - and one that we will pursue with interest."

Back in 2019, Wallin gave Fury one of the toughest fights of his career. Fury had to overcome two severe cuts, which came from punches, to win a twelve round unanimous decision.

Joshua is coming off back to back decision losses to unified champion Oleksandr Usyk.

Salita is not confident that Joshua would want to face someone with the boxing style of Wallin.

"Otto feels very confident about his chances to win, while it's possible that Joshua may feel a little intimidated coming off a loss against a southpaw in Usyk. He did a great job, but he lost," Salita said.

"There have been some good discussions, we love the fight and we're ready for it, any time, any day of the week."

Looks like Wallin and team are desperate to just throw their name into any hat.

Just asking for any fight.

Does Salita not have any backing?

They should just admit they want to fight whoever brings in the most money!

There is an article every other day about Wallin and his team trying to secure a fight.

He may as well fight Bakole, now that would be good.

Wallin will send Parker to the gatekeeper spot, where he belongs.

Have absolutely no idea what people see in Wallin. I'd be surprised if he ever becomes anything other than a competitive opponent in his career, such as Chisora.

He's absolutely milked his 'cutting Fury's face' .. he started fighting dirty in that as well.

Apart from the cut, which was bad let's be honest and credit where it's due, Wallin was soundly beaten that night. He didn't cause him any trouble.

This is what he has done since: (granted, he did have a fight with Whyte cancelled last year)

I scored it a close 115-113 live. I haven't watched it since. I don't like re-scoring fights.

TYSON FURY	9	9	10	9	10	9	10	10	10	10	10	9	115

He is exactly the kind of guy that should be trying to go for the vacant euro belt. Atleast then he should get decent opponents or mandatories to face.

he sliced up and hurt the world #1, that will inevitably get some people rating him even. beat breazeale easily too, who is still one of wilder's best opponents lol. a southpaw who can move fairly well with a sharp left hand. he lacks power and variety but isn't bad.

from what i've seen, he boxes to the level of his opposition, which is why he looks so meeeh when he's fighting these weaker guys he has been

This looks like the perfect comeback fight for Parker.

Just as long as he doesn't expect a huge payday.

He can't lose to Wallin and he can't afford to lose to Wallin and he won't lose to Wallin.

It will be a nice 12 round exhibition bout and a chance for Parker to show off his technical skills.

If Wallin wants to copy Joyce then he's only getting himself stopped.

I’m not sure how Parker goes with southpaws but I think he should have to much for wallin. But the southpaw factor is big here. Parker hasn’t fought a southpaw since Jason Bergman…

I don’t want him to fight this year after the Joyce KO, shouldn’t even be sparring this year (which is a shame, he could spar southpaw-fury which would help fury vs chisora, and help Parker vs Otto).

Not good for Parker who should rest after that beating. A healthy Parker is interesting.

This is not about Wallin being so great, it's about Parker being mediocre, timid and beaten.

I think its a great fight for parker. but needs to be late feb at the earliest. (idealy march or april)... This would be an excelent undercard fight for Fury vs Usyk.
