i think bivol's definitely fighter of the year, though as far as other notable guys:

bam rodriguez beat cuadras, sor, and that last dude......

haney became undisputed, although i dont think kambo x2 is quite up there for the top spot

shak beating valdez and robson, though not making weight could hurt his argument

I dunno if Bivol over Canelo is upset of the year. IMO, if you had watched Bivol previously, it wasn’t super surprising that a prime, long-time champion lt.heavy with his skills would beat Canelo. Opetaia beating Breidis was more of an upset. Magsayo beating Gary Russell was a bigger upset. Fernando Daniel Martinez (twice) beating four-year belt holder Jerwin Ancajas was more of an upset.

C'mon, it was the helluva upset. It's easy to say now. Almost everyone noted Bivol's credibility, but picked against him.

I also expected Bivol to win, atleast inofficially. I expected him to get robbed, though.
The thing at that time was: Canelos chin is too good for a boxer like Bivol to knock him out. And with those corrupt judges there was almost no way he could lose by decision.
And I don't think many people believed he would dominate Canelo to a degree, where it's basically impossible to not give him the decision.
Well, he did.

That's why he was that big of a favorite and therefore a big upset for sure.

I should clarify my opinion on Canelo vs Bivol as upset of the year.
I don't think anyone on planet earth would possibly think that the judges would score honestly against Canelo.
The upset was the fight being fairly judged

Ok, that makes more sense. I had watched plenty of fights involving the two and predicted Bivol would win by UD, as did a few of my friends who watched the fight with me. But you’re right, when the time came we were surprised the judges scored it relatively fairly. In the other three fights I mentioned, I didn’t think the challengers had a chance of winning

I didn’t. Watched the fight with a few friends and we all thought Bivol would win, but were surprised the judges scored it fairly. The other three I mentioned I didn’t think the challengers stood much of a chance

The scorecards were lopsided in favor of Canelo so the people who thought that were right. The people who were wrong imo were those, perhaps Canelo himself, who totally bought into his hype and expected him to go on to fight Usyk at cruiserweight.
