For me, that result looks better as time goes by.

Plenty men beaten Dereck, although Haye did finish him better than all of them

At the time he wasn’t always beaten.. he’s lost 3 time I think.

Helenius*
Fury 1
Vitali

But yeh, that fight has aged really well for Haye.

He dealt with him better than anyone.

Yeah. Was a weird show. I got a photo with George Groves before the main fights started and met Andy Murray too. Me and my mates still reminisce about Angel singing before the main event and getting boo’d out of there.

Mental night, I got completely hammered and barely remember anything beyond about half seven! The only thing I do remember was chanting ‘you fat bastard’ as Chisora entered the ring.

Yeah. We got soaked and ended up having to stand on our seats to watch the fight as the rows in front kept standing. Went crazy when the knockout happened. One of my pals stayed sober but kept getting lost on the drive back to Birmingham. Took us 2 1/2 hours to get out of London.

I fondly remember the response on here to someone asking if there were any nice restaurants or gastro pubs near Upton Park they could go to before the fight

I remember whilst I worked for David I wasnt part of the close team yet.

The first memory I have of this fight was that I was BANNED from the show for apparently my conduct towards Mr W arren & staff on the forums.

The second memory was on the night of Davids altercation with Chisora, I was up in Yorkshire having what I thought was a bit of peace from David. I remember receiving a call from a highly agitated Haye for not phoning him.

I asked David what his problem was and he said “do you not watch the news, I suggest you get off the phone and ring me back when you have”

I turned the tv on and had heart failure when I saw everything that had gone on. I remember phoning back the next day, David was already back at his house having managing to get a flight back before he was prevented from doing so.

I didn’t go to the fight and if I was honest I was gutted.

Without doubt one of David Haye’s best victories.

Good result for Haye, Chisora's beard had been solid up until then. Managed to track down a pub that was showing it which was more difficult than I expected it to be as it wasn't on sky sports! Ended up in the world's end on Finsbury park.

Very interesting post. Working for Haye wasn't a job for the faint hearted.

Haye could definitely punch, and was probably at his peak at that time physically.

Probably his best performance at heavyweight.

I agree, and probably one of the best performances at HW in the whole (mostly barren) decade.

Mixed feelings on this one....I thought they should have respected the BBBofC and not gone ahead with the bout, however, it was one hell of an exciting fight and a great finish from Haye.

Haye was always up against it at heavyweight, he wasn't a naturally huge guy, and packed on a lot of muscle to be competitive. However he could generate enormous power, the issue was, he wasn't really built to take punches from the really big boys, he didn't have the thick neck and massive skull of a genuine heavyweight - so he always had to avoid being hit square.

Totally agree. But he did seem acutely aware of his limitations at HW and it made him formidable, as he knew how to manage risk. Just wish he'd have rolled the dice a little more against Wlad.
