Obviously some of these guys were much better than others. That was part of the thread. You do have to be at least a decent fighter to win the lineal title. There is only one, not three or four WBS titles.
Some of these guys were very good, and some great. btw - Bob Fitzsimmons did fight a guy who weighed about 260. Fitzsimmons knocked him out in the second round.

I was thinking of Ed Dunhkorst, but ok.
This is what cracks me up:
- Young fans make the claim that the bigger guy would beat the smaller guy. The weight advantage is all that counts. No reason to consider the ability of the fighters. Nothing more to see here.
-Then it is pointed out that the smaller guy beat a much bigger guy in real life.
- Then it becomes "well that big guy didn't have much ability".

In mano y mano combat, if a man outweighs another man by 100lbs and still can't beat his much smaller opponent he's got to be absolutely sh*t at fighting.
